    Meet Dr. Stephen Lemon Transcript:
I am Dr. Stephen Lemon and I’m a medical oncologist. When patients come to see me for their first consultation they often don’t know what to expect. So I put together a list of things that I will go over with my new patients.
A cancer diagnosis is scary but knowing what to expect in the first meeting with me can be helpful in putting patients and families at ease.
So I am going to walk through what I cover in the first meeting.
    - I will discuss diagnosis and what that means
    - Prognosis and the various treatment options recommended
    - I will review if the condition is curative or not
    - I will develop a personalized treatment plan which can include chemotherapy or other cancer treatments and the treatment schedule.
    - I will also cover benefits and side effects of the recommended treatment
And of course I am here to answer important questions like how treatment can affect daily routine and work and home life. I also discuss support resources like nutrition, physical therapy, social work and genetics.
For this meeting patients are welcome to bring family members or friends because a second set of ears is often helpful. I believe the best way through the cancer journey is with a team, and I am honored to be part of that team!
