Great work. I wish you had included the process of creating your stencil for this custom. What size did you make the stencil? How many times did you have to make the stencil to cover the area you used on the shoe?. This is important information that i feel was needed to be included in your tutorial. I understand that you sell stencils but the process would have still been useful

Thanks for the support. I personally don't do off white stencils (my stencil cutter has a heart attack when I try) but it would be the same way as applying any type of stencil.
I might have one on one of my Nikes/Jordans/Vans videos. But normally I use Angelus matte finished and hand paint it on (make sure the paintbrush is brand new). Or I use LK finisher in Matte or Factory Finish and airbrush it on. I'll have to do a full video tutorial in the future with it. Thanks for asking. Let me know if you have any other questions 👍
Thank you, my paint kept going under the stencil and sticking to my stencil while removing it. I just ordered an air brush. Also a few more questions 1. How long do you wait to paint between layers? 2. Do you need to thin out Angelus paints to use on airbrush? Thanks
1. You need to wait until it dries---so it could be just 15-30 seconds if you use a hair dryer/heat gun/embosser to speed up the drying time. Just remember to use very light layers too. 2. I only use a little bit of 2-thin when using angelus paints. My paasche vl seems to do really well---sometimes I don't even thin it out. In general though, you should use 2 thin to thin out the paints. Another suggestion is to actually strain your paints. Sometimes paints get globs in them and clog your airbrush. Hopefully that helps, sorry for the late reply

It should not crack when prepped and sealed properly with leather paints/sealers. But over time the paint can fade on the toe box areas (or where the shoes naturally crease). I personally recommend to my clients to only have the nike swooshes painted, for more durable customs since the nike swooshes on the sides should be safe from the natural creases of the af1s.
Yeah I took it down. You are welcome to reach out to me on my Instagram: instagram.com/hjartistrydesigns If you’d like! And request whatever stencils and I can give you prices.
Hi yes it is possible to not use transfer paper. You would just carefully remove the stencil with a weeder or exacto knife or possibly even your fingernails and place the stencil on your shoe. Personally I find that using transfer paper makes it much easier but it is possible to apply your stencils without transfer paper
Unfortunately I don’t ship to Europe. But check out shopone15.com or maybe see if Etsy has any stencil artists in your country. Just double check the reviews to make sure the seller is reputable. Hope that helps! Thanks for reaching out and hope this video was helpful!

Hello, I am a girl who is starting in the world of sneakers. Please, would you be so kind as to tell me what kind of vinyl do I have to buy to make painting stencils?
Nope, I don't add duller or 2-soft to the paint. I only add a small amount of 2-thin when airbrushing. 2 soft (Also known as gac 900) is for fabrics/canvas so I didn't use any. Also, Instead of the duller I use a matte finisher at the end when I am finished (since sometimes too much Duller makes the paint too chalky) Hope that helps! Either one will work. Just make sure if you use nail polish remover, it does include acetone... So the acetone will remove the factory finish on leather shoes and make it so they can then be painted 👍

Yes. You can use nail polish remover as long as it says acetone in the ingredients. I personally use Angelus Deglazer... Or if I run out I use acetone from Sally beauty supplies (beauty store) or I use acetone from Lowes/home depot. When you use acetone (in any form) I do recommend going outside or having your window open and a fan blowing the air outside... Since it isn't very healthy to be around the fumes.
HJartistry great thank you! Also for your stencils how big are each design? And how long till I get it if I order because I’m planning on ordering some from you.
@@caitlynhocson6166 no problem. Happy to help. The current ones I have are on a 6 inch by 6 inch sheets. It's a standard size (compared to the Normal LV design). Other designs are on a 6x10" sheet. Currently I am limited on designs but current designs are available at HJartistry.com/stencils. It takes about 7-10 business days from the date you ordered. Possibly sooner but it depends on what state/country you are in. Shipping closest to Pennsylvania takes less time. West coast is a bit longer and shipping to Canada takes the longest... About 10-15 business days.
Might be. Whatever is on my website is correct. I don't remember off-hand ... Too many to remember haha. The dimensions are usually on the second or 3rd photo but if you make your own you can just measure what you need.
The stencils are a vinyl adhesive stencil... So they stick. As long as you prep properly. They are not a mylar (not sticky) reusable stencil. They are just a one time use stencil. Hope That makes sense. Let me know if you have any other questions
Subbed! You did your thing here. Very straight forward and to the point. The shoes look great . I’m into customizing and htv and haven’t done shoes yet with HTV or HTP so if I lay the stenciled paper to the shoe it will stick it won’t move ?
Appreciate the support. The vinyl stencils should not move when applied correctly. Just remember that unlike HTV, vinyl stencils are meant to be removed after painting. But as long as the surface is clean and doesn't have too many ridges it wont move. If you are going over the nike sign and side panels with a stencil it will be more difficult to have the stencil stick and not have overspray...so normally I recommend if you use stencils make sure the shoe you are working on doesn't have too many ridges/stitches etc. Hopefully that helps :) Let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks!
@@HJartistry I have a follow up question. If the stencil is coming up kinda, can I use like the top coat as a base coat to get the stencils to lay down & be sealed?
@@haleybby23 I would never recommend leaving the stencil on the shoe permanently. I only recommend using the stencil as a guide, then painting, and then removing the stencil.

Yes I use permanent vinyl... Some people prefer the cricut brand or oracal. And then to remove it from the shoes I use a heat gun to loosen it up a little
Great video! 🎨 What type of vinyl do you use? I'm looking for a place to have this type of stencil made for me in my country, but I can't find anything because they don't know what type of vinyl it is, a copy shop recommended textile vinyl to me but I don't think that it will work with the heat of the dryer 😅 thanks ♥️
Yes I go over the stencil with a heat gun(to help it adhere better to the shoe) then I use paint and use the heat again to make sure the paint is dry. Once the paint is dry the you can remove the stencils 👍

Check out my TH-cam Angels custom
@@angelirisnales9748 thanks! Just got your order! Nice that you live in PA too. I'll pack them up and ship them out tomorrow morning 👍 sure, I'll check out your youtube. Feel free to tag me on IG too with your work
can u use acetone thats used on nails?
What size stencil is that?
Dimensions are on my website 👍
@@HJartistry 1.4”?
Might be. Whatever is on my website is correct. I don't remember off-hand ... Too many to remember haha. The dimensions are usually on the second or 3rd photo but if you make your own you can just measure what you need.
what size stencils are you using?
The exact measurements are on my website. And Hope you can find a good shop in Australia to help you out 👍
How do u get the stencils to stick before u tape up the parts your not painting ?
Thanks!
No problem . thank you for the swift reply ! Ah I get it now .👌🏾 thanks HJ much appreciated and definitely will
@@bronx_native sure thing! Happy creating! 🎨 🖌
Where are the stencils from?
From my Website. Linked in the caption 👍
Heyy wanted to ask what air brush you use to colour it? Also Love the work keep it up❤️
Thanks so much. Here is list of the items (including the airbrush that I use): www.hjartistry.com/supplies-for-customizing
I really like my paasche vl airbrush. But if you check out Amazon, most airbrushes, like paasche, iwata, badger, grex etc are good options. And if you don't like the airbrush you get on Amazon, sometimes you can return it.
Good luck and thanks for your support 🙌
Is your website still up? So if I order something will I recieve it?
Hi, it's still up but I just had a baby so I am not taking orders thru it. If you'd like you can dm me on my ig @hjartistrydesigns and let me know what you are looking for. If I have some precut stencils of the design you are looking for you can place an order thru venmo or PayPal if you'd like. If you are in the USA it would be about 5-7 business days.
@@HJartistry congrats on your baby, sure ill just message you on Instagram for the stencils I will need. Do you ship to the uk?
Awww I actually don't ship to the UK cause the tarrifs are pretty steep. But I can give you a customizer who does ship there if you are interested. Just shoot me a dm on ig and I'll send you the link. I believe he does good work.
@@HJartistry alright
Looks dope
Thanks so much! Appreciate it 🙏
Is it acrylic paint?
It's a leather paint. My website has a link to what supplies I use if you are interested.
I personally like angelus or Jacquard the best... But there are other brands
Did u use like normal vinyl or what
Yes, I use vinyl for stencils
What kind of vinyl? Right now I’m using permanent vinyl. My stencils seem thick sometimes, but then work great other times..
Yes I use permanent vinyl... Some people prefer the cricut brand or oracal. And then to remove it from the shoes I use a heat gun to loosen it up a little
This was so dope!!!!!
Thank you! Glad to hear it :)
@@HJartistry thank you so much! 🥰
@@andreagamar2387 no problem. I hope you can find some good vinyl. I usually just get mine off of Amazon. Best of luck! 🤞🏼 😊
How bout infusible ink on af1
Not sure if you mean invisible ink? There is heat changing paints, but I haven't used them before :(
after placing the stickers on the shoe, do you go over it with a hair dryer or heat gun?
Yes I go over the stencil with a heat gun(to help it adhere better to the shoe) then I use paint and use the heat again to make sure the paint is dry. Once the paint is dry the you can remove the stencils 👍
Do you also do customer shoes? If so what is the pricing and information!! Your work is 😊
At this time I am not able to do customer shoes. But I am doing a collab video with @kicksbyemma and she should have some openings. Feel free to check her out on IG 👍
THIS IS SO COOL OMG
Haha thanks! 💜
do you ship your stencils overseas?
Unfortunately due to shipping issues and higher taxes/tariffs, I do not at this time. But I would recommend going to Etsy and seeing if There is any stencil artists closer to you. Also check out their reviews on Etsy to ensure you get good quality stencils. Hope that helps, thanks for your interest.
And happy creating!!
