It is a fake story. It is true Greedy Arab merchants were in the African slave trade. But then again, the biggest participants in the African trade were Africans themselves, where tribes hunted and chained their other enemy African tribes to sell them, usually, to White Europeans and, yes, to Arab greedy merchants!
Arabia never needed large number of slaves. The Arabs, before oil discovery, lived in harsh lives. They ate lizards. No plantations or industry for any need for slave labor. Brutal and greedy Arab merchants sold bought and sold African slaves to mainly White Europeans for Trans-Atlantic slave trade!

10 years ago there was a popular black youtube vlogger who converted to Islam but after realising how racist Arabs were when his Arab fiance's brother disapproved of their marriage he deconverted and left TH-cam without a trace. This was back when Atheism vs theist videos were popular. His TH-cam name was SwordofAllah. I also see Arabs who are extremely racist to Pakistanis but this is an issue thats rarely addressed.
Even Ayanaa Hirsi Ali said when she lived in Somalia she was brought up to hate Jews and other non-Muslims but when she briefly moved to Saudi Arabia with her family she experienced so much anti-black racism towards herself and her mother that's when she first started to question her belief in Islam.

He describes the raid as a horrifying experience. He was separated from all his family since then and never to see them again or know them till his passing away in 1983 at the age of almost 100yrs. This is North American ignorance, or better said the erroneous influences of the powerful USA. southern Europe was also colonized by the Middle East and North Africans and we share much of our dna with the Middle East and North Africa. It is also argued that as Mediterranean people our DNA was Never actually separate due to the Mediterranean and mixing was very common as well as parts of southern Europe are closer to Africa than mainland Europe itself which is why the Mediterranean has always been a mixture. Sicilians at one point spoke siculo Arabic, before that is was Greek, then Latin. Now Sicilian is a mixed language with all influences. Spanish still has Arabic influences as well because of this. Malta still speaks a dialect of Siculo Arabic.

African Historian Tidiane N’Diaye writes: [The Arabs] brought with them an avalanche of sorrows. As the Arabs advanced, mere survival was a real challenge for the people. Millions of Africans were victims of raids, were massacred or captured, castrated and sent to the Arabo-Muslim world. And that in inhuman conditions, by caravans across the Sahara or by sea, from trading posts dealing in human flesh from East Africa. Such was in reality the major occupation of the majority of Arabs who Islamized the African people, all the while posing as pillars of the faith and exemplary believers. They often went from region to region, the Koran in one hand, and the knife for castrating in the other, leading a hypocritical “life of prayer,” never uttering a word without invoking Allah or a saying or deed of the Prophet. Beautiful and noble principles but which were trampled upon-with such joy, such indignity, such dishonesty-by these Arab slavers, who submitted Africa to fire and sword. For, behind this religious pretext, they committed the most revolting crimes and the most atrocious cruelties.... The Atlantic Slave Trade lasted four centuries, whereas the Arabs raided Sub-Saharan Africa for thirteen centuries without interruption. The majority of men shipped disappeared because of their inhuman treatment and systematic castration.... For, even though there are no degrees of horror nor a monopoly of cruelty, one can argue, without risk of contradiction, that the slave trading and jihad carried out by Arab Muslims to procure captives for these predators without pity was far more devastating than the Atlantic Trade. And it is still being carried on under our noses.16

There is a reason why these kinds of fake stories don't make in history books! Look for populations of African descended people in the world and you will know who engaged in the African slave trade! Oh, another lie is the ones Arabs took were all castrated! The need for castrated eunuchs was very small and insignificant--to guard royal households. If the Arab and Muslim world needed large labor force, it would be cost-effective to allow slave breeding.

The first country to legally ban slavery was the kingdom of France in 1305*.
The last country to legally ban slavery was Saudi Arabia in 1968.

@@HarrisSultanAtheist The essay question was "Has Islam been a uniting or a dividing force in the politics and international relations of the Middle East?" I began my answer by mentioning the early history of Islam and how it destabilized and decimated the Arab pagan societies. I mentioned the conquests and the slave trade and tried to prove that the forceful nature of the Islamic doctrine was never a uniting force in the region; rather , the infighting among Muslims started just after the death of their prophet. Till this day, the region is one of the most volatile conflict zones in the world. The examiner did not like my argument but couldn't fail me. He/She graded me in such way so I will just barely pass the unit. Anyway, I'm hoping to do more research on it and maybe publish it for the world.

The saddest thing about this slavery is that it is still practiced in Sudan, Niger, Mauritania and some other parts of the Islamic world and you won't see any of those Muslim apologists who shamelessly repeat the lie that Islam abolished slavery doing or saying anything about it! What is more disturbing is when Muslim apologists insist that slavery is different under Islam where women and children are cared for in exchange for their sexual availability to pious old Muslim men. In 2014, al-Azhar (the Islamic world's most prestigious university) proclaimed that Muslims can capture women in battle for sex slavery. The woman making the announcement was Suad Saleh, a so-called 'moderate,' who said this at the very same time that thousands of Yazidi women were being horrifically raped by the Islamic State.
When a 12-year-old girl taken captive by the Islamic State (ISIS) explained that her 'master' would pray before he raped her: "He told me that according to Islam he is allowed to rape an unbeliever. He said that by raping me, he is drawing closer to Allah." Other sex slaves have been forced to pray before the rape or recite passages from the Quran during. When a Yazidi woman begged a caliphate member not to rape a little girl, he responded, "She's a slave... and having sex with her pleases God." ("Fatwa 64 from ISIS instructs slave owners to "show compassion" and "kindness" to the women they rape.)

_"While the transatlantic slave trade lasted four centuries, it was thirteen centuries without interruption that the Arabs raided sub-Saharan Africa ”,_ writes the Senegalese anthropologist and economist Tidiane N'Diaye, in his book *“The Veiled Genocide ”* , a pdf summary of which can be downl𝜊aded from the web.
Most of the millions of men they deported have disappeared as a result of inhuman treatment and widespread castration of males most of whom did not survive it.

The more I hear about the Arab slave trade, the more it makes me wonder what it would take for ‘Arab guilt’ to reach the same emasculating levels as white guilt. I put quote marks because Arabs, who tend to be Muslims, don’t really do guilt because they’re a shame culture, who care about honour above well-being. I can’t imagine the accusation of ‘racist’ coming from black Africans towards Arabs as ever having the same weight as it does towards whites, despite the Arab slave trade being much longer and apparently more brutal. If our standards were consistent, surely these things should apply

Muslim philosopher Ibn Khaldun (d. 1406) described the Arabs of his time (let alone those from Muhammad’s more primitive era eight centuries earlier) as “the most savage human beings that exist. Compared with sedentary people they are on a level with wild, untamable animals and dumb beasts of prey. Such people are the Arabs." After portraying Arabs as “wild, untamable (animals) and dumb beasts of prey,’ he wrote, “In the West, the nomadic Berbers... are their counterparts, and in the East, the Kurds, the Turkomans, and the Turks.” In short, “if taking lives and ravaging the lands of the infidel were the means by which the ends of expanding Islam were served, then the new [Turkic] converts’ traditional pleasures were now happily endowed with a pious rationale,” he writes.

This is a great video! The only problem is the equivocation of Christianity and Islam toward slavery. By the time of the secularization of Europe, even by the late middle ages, slavery was almost non-existent in Christian Europe. And in The States, the abolition of slavery was a largely Christian movement. Christianity with its championing of divine adoption through Christ naturally smothers slavery, not through dictum but through atrition. Thank you for bringing light to this.

@ippos_khloros I won't disagree with anything concretely in what you have said but instead will address what you did not, which was the point of my post. Jesus is quoted with the saying "You will know them by their fruit". We can't make absolute claims based on that statement as you have pointed out slavery is practiced throughout the world at the time of Jesus and is not condemned by Christians, indeed Christians are instructed to be obedient to their masters and masters treat their slaves with dignity even fraternity if they are Christian. But ultimately look at the two philosophies and the practices of the cultures where they hold / held dominance. Some will argue there is no relationship between the cessation of slavery in the West and its continuation in the middle east and north Africa and the religions of those regions. Others will argue there is a significant relationship. I think there is a relationship and it may be significant. I don't think the two concurrence of religion and practice in these regions is unrelated.

@ippos_khloros I agree entirely. I love watching Muslim content; I've probably watched hundreds of hours of content on Jinn, etc., but when I watched a Sufi point up to a mental image of a cross next to him and say "That man in the diaper is not Isa" it shows you the suffering servant, nonviolent leader does not work well with Islam, even today.

The reasons that Islam says to treat your slaves kindly are twofold. To keep the slaves from revolting, and because slaves were treated so poorly by Muslims, that these verses try to mitigate Muslim cruelty. You don't need to urge kindness to those who are kind, only those who are not kind.

It's about seeing how those verses in the Bible which might appear to be pro-slavery - for those that want them to be - fit into the larger picture of God's will. The original church was in the Middle East, Anatolia and Africa (AXUM). Many of the muslims were originally Christian, at least their ancestors were before the Islamic conquests and forcible conversion. They were the original Eastern church and martyrs. I'm glad Jesus is being revealed to them as he was revealed to their ancestors. Many Arabs, Levantine, Chaldeans, Assyrians and Africans were the early church members and fathers and through Jizya and TAKIA and threats were forced to renounce their original Christian heritage. I hope and pray to God they rediscover what their Pre-Islamic ancestors knew. The Quran can only be read in Arabic and followers must adhere to traditional dress, but this doesn't mean that God is Arabic or that followers must abandon their native culture. God loves all of his children from all backgrounds.
