Used it a couple of times and action was very lifelike (looked like local bait fish for trevally), craftsmanship very good....however eyeball fell out. I asked for replacement and it is on it's way! It was very easy to change out treble to single inline hook.

I pull mine across like a topwater lure. Mine looks exactly like that with a little bit different coloration and I tear them up every time. The one I use is so beat up from about 20 years of use and they still hit it. LOL it's been my favorite for years and years

I used a 6 foot medium fast action rod for years. Spooled with 12 pound stren mono. I caught tons of bass. Up to 5 and 6 pounds on a 1/4 ounce spinnerbait and Texas rig from 1/8 ounce up to a 1/4 ounce. Don’t get caught up in buying a rod for each technique like I did. It’s a money pit. With a 6’9 medium fast, 7’ medium heavy fast and 7’3 heavy fast you can do just about everything with.
Flourcarbon leader does it ruin it bad cuz in my area there is no bass so i have pike and i need flourcarbon so its not bite my line off srry for bad eng

JESUS! Why are people using such heavy line? I almost always fish 8lb mono, unless I'm fishing heavy weeds and lily pads, in which case I use 12lb braid. Never have a line break unless I get a northern that bites it off. JEEZ!
Then you're not fishing half the water you could. Reaction baits don't require crystal clear micro line. When you fish a frog next to a lAydown adjacent to a flat of weeds you absolutely will break off when the fish dives. Not to mention mono stretches and doesn't allow for solid hooksets for topwater in my experience.
Off topic question....I fish a pond that has 5-10lb bass in it. It is unfished beings that it's on my work property. Well the conditions are terrible, nothing but grassy mat everywhere. It's honestly horrendous and I don't know how to get these fish. I use a frog but I want different options. It's pretty shallow, and there's literally nothing but THICK mat everywhere. Please help!!!!

Not all mono floats. I personally prefer sinking mono (but not for surface lures, tbh). Furthermore, how can one talk about the parabolic bend helping set the hooks right, when one just said that there is no difference between mono and braid? This makes no sense. Braid has no stretch when compared to mono and that makes a big difference. Furthermore, not everyone around the world is striking the fish like there's no tomorrow, risking to rip its head off. But ok, whatever.

I think that sunset is generally better for most topwater baits. Especially a giant popper.

I dont really use baitcasters. For me personally a spinning setup works best! Great video and great tips. Where is travis???

7ft med fast works great for me on a 6.2 reel I mostly jerkbait fish so it’s awesome it’s an almost ideal set up for poppers

Use heavy mono. So they can't bite through.

Javier Marin flouro is denser than water which makes in sink and just makes it harder to throw surface baits.

Murkey water with little cloud cover, go bright. Cloudy and dark, go dark. That's just what I've found to work

If your just beginning then a baitcaster is not the reel to use. You'll be fighting backlash more than fighting the fish.

You're right. I would ideally use 10lb or 12lb Sufix Siege for a popper and you can fish a jerkbait on the same rod.
