  • Mike Postle has been accused of cheating while playing no limit Texas hold'em poker. In this vlog I will highlight some videos of Mike Postle playing some unusual hands on the Stones Gambling Hall live stream in California. Let's investigate some of the poker hands that Mike Postle played and see if we can figure out if he cheated or not. I am not accusing Mike Postle of cheating.

    Jeff, I said on other video, 31:50 is the smoking gun, when he said I cant lose with this hand on the flop then the turn card peels off giving him a gunshot straight draw and he says oh shit. How would he know he could now lose on the river unless he knew his opponents cards. This guy is a piece of work, hopefully he gets what is rightfully coming to him

      THIS is idiotic. You've never heard someone say outlandish things at the table. You never heard someone say they have the winner preflop when they're hold 7-2. It feels like people are jumping on this bandwagon and forgetting what actually playing poker is like. He may be cheating, but THAT is not evidence of it. You're being absurd.

    • @stupidrules1000
      @stupidrules1000 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @altruistic angel I'd be happy to come to your home game and take all of your money (post-Corona of course).
      I paid my mortgage for 3 years before law school playing poker. I know what a poker cheat looks like, but more importantly I know what good evidence of a poker cheat looks like. A guy saying he's going to win a hand before he wins it is NOT good evidence.
      As I had been saying from the beginning of this (and I stopped following it last summer so I don't know what has come out since the ....and I kinda don't care), he MAY be cheating....I'll even give you that he is PROBABLY cheating. But what the OP is referring to is NOT evidence of that cheating. The same way that a woman floating in water is not evidence that she is a witch.

    • @bananajoelikesbanan
      @bananajoelikesbanan 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@stupidrules1000 bro, it's when you add all the evidence up. it's super obvious what's going on.

    • @stupidrules1000
      @stupidrules1000 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @altruistic angel except dozens of people who make a living at poker (definitely more successfully than I was, and I'd wager more successfully than you as well), watched him play and played with him, and it was only obvious enough to 1 person for them to say anything to anyone, and only obvious enough to a couple of people to stop playing with him. Which is to say...it wasn't and isn't obvious.
      So, yeah, I do know what winning poker looks like (and I've been playing long enough to know that even that concept has changed significantly over the years). And I also know that some people are just better at certain things than the people they are competing against (for instance all those kids that went to Stanford instead of Cornell....lol).
      But more importantly, I know how to respond to the actual point being made. For instance, in this post, I did not claim that he was not cheating, I only claimed that saying you have the winner, when you actually have bad cards is NOT evidence of cheating. It is just talking at the table. Maybe table talk is something that the younger generation of card players are not as familiar with, but it isn't evidence of cheating.

    For me the devil is in the details. When you look at any of his hands separately an excuse can be made for how he is playing. It’s when you look at the entire session and break down all of his river decisions that you begin to realize he is playing near perfect. In a game of incomplete information he makes decisions as one would if they knew exactly what their opponent was holding. Couple this with all of the extra ridiculousness of where he’s looking during hands, his demeanor at the table when he is in god mode vs when he’s not, the inexplicable changing of his hole cards, etc...we can come to a nearly definitive conclusion. What I think is lost in the discussion is that Mike is actually a really good winning exploitative poker player. The plays he makes in these hands preflop are clearly not +EV and so it can become extremely confusing. At this point I’d say it’s more likely he’s got mutant powers and is a member of the X-Men than there being a chance of him playing straight up. Hopefully justice can be served and those taken advantage of receive compensation.

      Charles, justice, at least to an extent, will come during a class action lawsuit against Postle and Stones. The 2 Ds occur during the civil suit process, Discovery and Deposition. Everyone at Stones who associated with Postle, players, dealers, commentators, Justin all get deposed, everything eventually comes out. However, very likely Stones will settle before it gets that far. And Postle will likely never be allowed to set foot in a California casino again. It's going to be interesting in the days and weeks to come.

He tried to say he loses sometimes. Which is true and part of the strategy. He didn't cheat every night he played Stones Live. He couldn't win 100% of sessions played. I would love to see him play without a phone or hat and see if he would be willing to do that. That's the smoking gun. Have him play 50 Stones Live sessions with no hat or phone. Phones should be banned from table for televised cash games. Opens the door for this to happen. I think Stones was in on it..or at least a couple people were. His behaviour is so odd. I have never seen anyone act like this at a table. If I was next to him I would lean over and look at his phone often. None of the noobs did that once.

    Great job Jeff - regarding Mike Postle's hat - I noticed at 24:07 (and other places) that he has this really crazy, uncommon bend to the peak of his cap. The more I look at it, the more I'm sure that he's bent it so ridiculously far on each side in order to shield his eyes from players to his side, so they can't see that his eyes aren't looking at his cards, but down at his phone between his legs. In fact in some shots it looks like the peak of this cap blocks his own hand even, and that the angle could only allow his eyes to see down between his legs and not the table. Look at 24:13 and 14, the tip of his peak and the angle of the entire peak would suggest he can't even see the table and his own hand, but instead only straight down between his legs, with those crazy side bends to the peak blocking any eyes from the players to his left and right.

    The PLO hand is so damning. You can see how Mike completely changes the way he plays. He’s playing it like a regular player, thinking hard about what Steve could have. Mike is playing cautiously. He doesn’t play cautiously when he has access to all the whole cards. He pretends too, but it’s a night and day difference, you can clearly see.

    Wow. 5:26 and he is visibly annoyed that his opponent is betting. 5:29 - he looks down at his lap, and nearly mucks his cards - he grabs them, starts to push them forward, then thinks better of it, and reluctantly calls. He has two pair!!
    Hands like this just show you exactly what he was doing.

    You have to figure he didn’t pocket the full 250k. Probably had to split it with one or two others. Going to be very interesting to see how this plays out. I’m not sure the casino can press charged since he wasn’t stealing from them and I’m not sure the local PD can do much to investigate beyond interviewing the suspects and some of the victims. The group that reported him completely messed this up. Would have been so easy to catch him red handed if they went about this in a more subtle way. Regardless, I don’t think he can ever show his face at Stones again. He’ll also be lucky if he doesn’t get the shit kicked out of him multiple times. If I were a player in that game and lost to him one suspect hands, he’d have one chance to pay me back. Otherwise, he’d have a ski mask and bat in his near future. Suspect list would be long enough that I wouldn’t be worried about getting caught.

    I like how he puts the cap back on his water around 23:10. Everyone holds the bottle away from their body when they put the cap on, don't they? He already looked down before he drank. The awkward, unnatural closing of the water bottle is like a subconscious, or very conscious, visual blocker for that second look into his (apparently) endlessly fascinating lap. No one can say he's 100% guilty without any hard proof, which has not been offered or discovered yet. Everyone deserves a fair trial, even in the court of public opinion, but the whole thing looks 99% bad. Fully expecting the other shoe to drop in a few weeks.

    Yeah, keeping a hand like 5 and 4 off suit is highly suspicious. Someone is honestly telling him the opponent’s cards on his phone, or someone is card calling the dealer’s hands or both. Even his hat. I don’t know, but it’s really something worth investigating, especially his body language on stream.

    There's also the fact that the more complete the information, the better decisions that can be made. His river play is so close to perfect (and not GTO perfect either, like literally correct given what everyone _actually_ has rather than based on some sort of range analysis) that it is pretty much statistically impossible. His main losses are bluff shoves that are called when they shouldn't be (other than from pure reads _against_ him anyway). Things like just calling AQsd against T8sd on a board with 7d-9d-Jd is completely ridiculous. You're ahead of the entire range of legitimate value jams other than one single hand, and facing a bet that's a relatively small % of the pot. Calling it as a "hey, look I make mistakes too" play is frankly just as suspicious as folding would have been.

    • @DreadX10

      Think that's light, from beyond the table, reflecting off the chip. When the light is still on, the 'chip-light' is also sometimes there, just not really visible due to lack of contrast. In the dark the light reflecting off the chip is clearly visible. The fast way these little lights switch on and off, shows characteristics with reflections more than with electronically switched lights (they go from 0 to 100 and back down a lot slower).

    If he wasn't so damn greedy, he could have crushed the game indefinitely. Make good value bets in spots that makes sense. Make good raises in spots that MAKE SENSE. Make thin value bets etc. Hav losing sessions and pay off purposely when it makes sense to pay off. Don't fold AK on K84 rainbow double suited. Call the all in knowing you are up against 88. Don't cheat every hand. Takes some hands off and play legitimately. Win 63% of sessions and not 94. Win at a very high win rate, but not one that is so high as to set off red flags.
    Guys like that need to be given a beating. There should be a underground group that hands this down. A few of these beatings being publicized would prevent this type of cheating in the future.

    You guys are missing the main part that proves he cheats no question when the system reads Mike's cards "wrong"it's then impossible that the booth nor the people working the software would know that his cards were reading correctly unless he told the people in the booth is cards were reading correctly because his cards are said to be incorrect without him tabling them, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR THEM TO KNOW HIS CARDS ARE WRONG WHEN HE HAS NOT TABLED THEM BECAUSE IF THE SOFTWARE SAYS HIS CARDS ARE DIFFERENT THAN THEY ARE THEY WOULD KNOW NOTHING OTHER THAN WHAT THE SOFTWARE TOLD THEM THE CARDS WERE IT'S IMPOSSIBLE UNLESS HE TELLS THEM THAT THOSE WERE NOT THE CARDS HE HAD AS WELL HE WOULD HAVE TO SOMEHOW KNOW IMMEDIATELY THAT A STREAM THAT'S 30 MINUTES DELAYED HE ALREADY SAW ON THAT STREAM IN THE MOMENT THAT HIS CARDS WERE WRONG THIS IS ALL IMPOSSIBLE WITHOUT COMMUNICATION BETWEEN HIM AND THE BOOTH OR THE SOFTWARE ENGINEERS WHICH MEANS NOT ONLY IS HE CHEATING BUT THEY'RE ALL IN ON IT THERE IS ZERO OTHER EXPLANATIONS FOR THAT 091 EXCLAMATION NOT TO ZERO OTHER THEN CHEATING AND COMMUNICATION

    I have seen players ALL the time over MANY games just look at their cards over and over,i think it is more or less a twitch habit,nervous habit.Cell phones should NEVER be allowed near the tables,this is a huge mistake and ALL of the players should have refused to play the game unless phones were removed.

      Jeff Boski here’s a good question... how well does this guy play in games that aren’t live? Y’know, if the table cams are wireless, you can intercept the signals with any cell phone. If they’re wired cams, you’d need to have the IP address of the adhoc system they’re running on and a way to access it(administrator access passwords). If they’re on a system that’s open to wireless, same thing. If the games are running live, with a delay, all you need is access to the website running the live feed. Every one of those situations is possible. Every one of those situations is fairly easy.

    The worst is that there might have been other players cheating the same way but were less greedy and obvious about it. Mike is guilty 100% what is not sure is how many are in on it.

    If he were using better tech so he did not have to look at his phone he could of got away with this for ever. He may have been the worst cheater to get away with his scam for more than a year. Had he stopped when Veronica came out or at least not played in that last game where veronica was the host he could still be doing it. Some people wont stop until they are stopped. It makes me think you would have to be crazy to play on a live stream.

    Busted, Mike should try another stream room to feel the steam.

    I heard he was in a hand with AK, flop was K8* and he check folded...other guy flopped a set of eights. I watched a video other day a guy had I think 10-8 of diamonds, he flopped a straight with a straight flush redraw, when the flop hit, Mike just immediately grinned and smiled obviously knowing the guy flopped a straight. His reaction was rediculous.

    definitely cheating. dunno about the hat shenanigans, but that hat bulge is undeniable. I liked your video. It seems the most damning of the ones Ive viewed.

    You have to do a follow up. His hand is under the table 80% of the time, checking cards, moving chips, and he seems to always be next to the dealer. Strange, very strange.
