I appreciate that you never skip on speakers quality checking with all your reviews. I am certainly impressed with the Bang and Olufsen ones in Dragonfly series of the laptops. Good built-in speakers are essential to me.

Nice laptop. Camera looked excellent and mics sounded just okay. Display is very good. Sound was good. Good for the traveler who needs something light. Watching you handle this unit at the beginning of the unboxing I noticed this tends to be somwhat of a fingerprint magnet. Good port selection and nice that they put one USB-C port on each side. Like the easy access to the inside for ssd upgradeability and also the ability to replace the battery if it ever goes bad. Overall an excellent laptop. With the 90% recycled magnesium it makes one wonder what they are recycling the magnesium from. Great review.

The HP Dragonfly G4 seems to be a very good laptop for the business professional on the go with a great OLED display with 398 bits of brightness, good port selection, excellent battery life, very clear webcam with built-in mic array plus great audio quality from the speakers!! What makes this laptop an exceptional one is that it is priced so that it won’t break the bank. At the end of the day, it’s a productivity laptop that will get the work done and that’s what’s important. Excellent video Andrew!!! 👍😁

Check my comment above. Unfortunately (I own the G4 with all specs maxed) the left usb-c/TB4 is working at 10% of its capacity. Lost so much time trying to software fix. The PC is now in repair at HP Europe (my custom config came directly form china to the US). They still have not found where the problem is coming from. Probably the CPU (my guess). Very disappointed (in addition to the weight - which is 20% higher than announced - this was a bummer)

Using the Intel U series CPU was a good product design idea. Thin laptops with Intel G/P/H/K series CPUs tend to run too hot. Looking at you X1 Carbon Gen 10.

This would have been LAPTOP OF THE YEAR if it had Ryzen 7840U. everything here is perfect. The weight & Size, the Battery capacity, the build quality and most importantly the ports. They had to ruin it with Intel garbage mobile CPU. Its a crime to use intel CPUs on ultraportabls. HP wasted a big opportunity here. The CPU and iGPU would have been at least %100 faster than this.

You ranked the keyboard a 9 compared to last years 10 score of the g3. Also you gave the hp spectre 13.5 a “10”. Is the keyboard on the spectre better? How about the OLED? Are they both the same panel or different?
Which laptop and screen would you pick for a pure writer and reader on the go? Thank you! This channel is the best!

    I own the G4. I ordered the maxed specs (3k OLED + 2tb SSD + 5G sim + i7 13th gen). Great laptop all around BUT
    - 1.2 kg instead of 1kg announced
    - the left thunderbolt port is delivering only 43MB/s read-write instead of 5GB/s (40 Gb/s as per usb-c 4 / tb4). I spent 2 weeks trying to software fix. The tech service in the US had no clue. Sent it for repair. They have not found the glitch yet. I guess this is a motherboard issue but I am not sure. Lots 2 weeks of productivity already...

To be honest I found the sound of the built-in mic way too low. It sounded if you were in the back of a large room. At one point, when you leaned forward it sounded better. I totally agree with you on the audio of Bang&Olufsen, it sounded good, especially for a business focused laptop 😉. Thanks for another great review Andrew!

I have been an XPS 13 and 17 user for a good 3 years now, And I am looking for a great in-between the XPS 15 doesn't do it for me, and I'll explain why. First, the trackpad on the whole XPS lineup is too small for the sizes of these machines. The new MacBook Airs have massive trackpads in a 13 and 15-inch laptop, like the G4. The webcam on the whole lineup of XPS machines is just terrible given the price, 720p with terrible color and contrast is a no-go in 2023/Early 2024, This HP has the best webcam on any laptop period for this size. The ports on my XPS 13 are quite literally just lackluster at best. 2 T4 and a headphone jack that's it and the same can be said with the 17 just add some T4 ports and a full-size SD card reader. The Sound on the XPS machine has come a long way however the sound will distort at higher volumes which again when considering the price of these machines is unreasonable. The only thing I hate about the G4 is the keyboard font/layout and the color of the keys. HP should learn what people want which is a black backlit keyboard such as the XPS lineup and no other buttons, the fingerprint button should be integrated with the power button such as the MacBooks and XPS series of machines, and the font should be similar to the XPS and Macbooks. I do have to say this has to be the best looking and feeling trackpad on a Windows laptop period (HP G4), The size is amazing. However, this machine when configured with a U-Series i7 and 1000nite touch display w/ 32GB 512GB SSD can cost $3,700+ for a system that lacks a P-Series chipset and less than 64GB of RAM. Specs aren't everything but for almost $4,000 there are some things that could be done better. Personally, I hate the keyboards on anything other than the XPS or Macbook series of machines because of the font and the ugly color-matched keycaps. However, I can't deny this is the best version of a laptop in my mind, oh and just cause they should just make the whole chaises boxed similar to the new Macbook Pro (m2 pro).

I had a G1, now a G2, both with the i5, now considering the G4. On the cons side on both laptop, the rubber strip feet fell off because of the heat of the CPU. Also, I found the screen size is a bit small when doing email and accounting. How do you compare the G1 and G4 ?

One of these days you should test those Kensington lockports. Try grabbing a test laptop off a table with the lock and reenacting a snatch and grab, I bet it would break the lock right off from the shell and the laptop would still work fine. idk though

Why can HP not make a cheaper version for the consumer? Nothing special with i5/i7 choice, a couple of screen options, 16/512 or bigger ... what pushes the price so high? Chassis? Go for aluminium then. It would be a killer laptop if cheaper. The battery life is what is needed at lower prices - any special tech to achieve that?

    • @little_fluffy_clouds
