  • 2000 Jeep Cherokee XJ gets the full treatment. 33” MTZ on 15x8 pro comp street lock wheel. 4” Rough Country lift with quick disconnects. Ride is amazing and after a little trimming, no rub at all.

    Answer for DJ's comment: How is the lift holding up? He's heard mixed reviews on RC quality.
    RCG response: "We sold the Jeep pretty quickly but we have run this lift on 4 of our XJ's and they hold up great. The mixed reviews on quality are from the guys who buy this lift and take it hard core rock crawling. That is not what this lift is meant to do, this lift is geared more toward light to moderate offroading...although we have put it through the paces on some pretty decent obstacles. The ride is great, even with the base shocks but is much improved with the newer V2 option they have now. Thank you for your comment and your subscription."

    Your sons camera work made me dizzy but good tip on dropping the lower control arms. Woulda been good to see him wrestle them back in place and explain how he installed the bump stocks. Also no mention of the rear axle. I have an 87 MJ metric tonne with dana 44. No mention of track bar placing. Need complete info . Dandahermit

      To reinstall them…at that point there is no real tension in them so they sit in the seat with no fuss. We did not do bump stops on this Jeep but if we were we would replace them while we have the spring off. Can be done with the spring on too but much easier when removed. Then, we use the jacks to raise the axle back in place. One side at a time or together makes no difference. Once in place we install the bolts…seriously all in all no wrestling with it this way. On the rears…it’s truly simple…especially if you’re upgrading your whole spring pack. If you’re adding a leaf it’s a bit more involved but not too bad still. As long as the bolts don’t break! The rear springs are unbolt the old, drop the springs put the new springs in one side at a time and reinstall bolts. Then lift the axle back in place and install the ubolts. I agree we should have videoed it but honestly we did it so fast we simply forgot. Thank you for your comments and hopeful for your success on your lift. Shout if you have more questions.

    Hi, did you end up using the new rough country leaf springs for the back? If you did - did you use shackle relocates?

    • @roughcountrygarage7943
      @roughcountrygarage7943  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yessir, we did use the new spring packs. I would recommend them highly. We did not use relocation shackles but new shackles are available from RC. We used the stock shackles for this installation. The new leafs offer perfect lift and since it wasn’t really built for rock crawling the factory shackles offer enough articulation for this installation. Thank you for your feedback, this is exactly what I’m hoping for with the channel.

      Sorry, just got saw this. For some reason I’m not getting email alerts for comments. Hopefully you’ve gotten them in by now but we usually use the floor Jack to manipulate the axles. In some cases we’ve had to use ratchet straps to help hold them in place to set the control arms. Update me on what you did. Thank you and sorry again for the delayed response.

    What's the best way to buy parts from Rough Country to completely rebuild the on my XJ part by part I want to do a three and a half inch lift I'm on by the parts as I go and have everything everything I need and then start rebuilding I heard some companies do this but it's mostly for muscle cars you list out everything you want and once a month they send out the parts and a stage bushings Springs shocks linkage and it takes about a year but eventually have everything you want does Rough Country offer something like that

    • @seancrider9141
      @seancrider9141 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not that I’m aware of. The kits come complete with everything you’d need to do the lift. The kit only includes the parts necessary to acquire the lift…they don’t provide suspension parts necessarily that “wear out”. Those would be purchased at your local parts store. Rough Country does offer upgraded wear parts for certain pieces.

    • @roughcountrygarage7943

      We didn’t actually use blocks on this build…we used RC’s 4.5” spring packs. They don’t offer blocks on lifts taller than 3”. They use add a leaf’s and drop shackles.

    • @seancrider9141
      @seancrider9141 ปีที่แล้ว

      It will be, the rear springs are a little stiff, they will settle in some over time but if you really want to level it, use some pucks on the front springs..,that’s what we do.
