Solid review as usual! The design is what won me over as I was resistant to the buttons. Controls are a little wonky via the app so hopefully there will be an update. Liking the customizable EQ and ANC (bit of white noise on transparency but not a killer). Ultimately the dual drivers, look of mini-speakers sitting comfortably, and audio quality won me over. Mic is not the best, but mainly using it for music so not a deal breaker. Thx Gentlemen!!

Wow, that transparency mode sure is a mixed bag, isn't it?! 😮 I can see how it would deliver perfect sound when dealing with someone in person with your earbuds on. Maybe even better than anything else I have. But that call test with wind and traffic was dreadful. 🤦🏼‍♂️
But I'm one of those _spec types_ of which you spoke of, and in that area, I find them lacking. 😒 Oh, well. 🤷🏼‍♂️
Enjoyable and informative, as always! _Thanks!_

Thank You once again. My Sony link buds s has been stolen, and I was thinking to buy maybe something in smaller price, and with similar call quality, and I watched already 2 or 3 videos of competition, and only here I could properly hear the difference, and I know. Thank You.

Edifier always has great sound, but always does something wrong. I've returned countless Edifier buds, sometimes it's connection issues, sometimes battery issues. The last pair I returned is neobuds pro, it has amazing sound and ANC, but every week, the connection between the left and right buds somehow gets cut off and I had to perform a dull reset procedure to make it work again.

I have the neobuds pro and neobuds 2. Both of them 3 months later the left earbuds sound lower. Very annoying because it works but unbalanced. Very frustrating. I'm getting the I phone 14 and get airpods pro2. I'm done with the unreliability.

These are definitely not the Neobuds Pro and they are not pretending to be but these are however great entry level buds. Having said that I'm desperately hoping that Edifier price these appropriately, budget buds that are on a strict low codec diet. Great critique, I'm not sure I agree with every conclusion but definitely well said.

Ok, at the moment in The Netherlands, you can get these for 59 euro's. But for that price there's also the Earfun Free Pro, Soundpeats T2, Cambridge Audio Melomania 1, JBL tune 230nc (with discount). I've been watching earbud reviews for a month now and still don't know. Could this Edifier be the best option of them all? I want battery life, good soundquality, and good passive isolation. Don't care about wireless charging, multipairing or in ear detection. Thanks!

Hello my fellow favorite headphone reviewers. A lot of the "big name" earbud companies have recently updated their flagship lineup, and it seems like the game has completely changed when it comes to high-end ANC strength, with last year's A and S-tier ANC suddenly seeming average. At the same time, it seems like direct comparisons have gotten rarer, and people just describe the ANC as "strong" or "really good" whereas last year you'd always get some kind of comparison with famous buds like the XM4, ("The ANC is really strong, just slightly below/above the XM4's"). So what I'm wondering is if it might be a good time to revisit your ANC tier list from a while back, because I'm having a really hard time getting a grasp of how the new Galaxy Buds Pro 2, Pixel Buds Pro, Quietcomfort 2, Airpods Pro 2 etc. fare against the "last generation kings" like the XM4's and Neobuds Pro. Is the difference between the new kings and the old kings as significant as the difference between say the XM4's and some average 100$ earbud? And how far are they from on-ear champs like the XM5 and Airpod Max? I know a large ANC comparison & comprehensive tier list requires a ton of work and effort, and maybe you've already thought of it (and maybe already started working on it?). I basically just think now would be a great time to do one.

Did I miss something or is there no indication at all when the buds are charging? Neither on the case, the buds, NOR the app. The case LED does pulse when the case is charging, but this is unrelated charging the buds themselves. I've only had them for a month and have already run into the situation where I pull them out of the case and they were under 10% battery -- needed to do a hard reset (tap three times on the button on the case) before they would resume charging.
They do sound very very good for music, with a surprisingly non-mainstream fairly balanced tuning. Much better than Bose QC 2 and Liberty 3 Pro, which are blah and unengaging.
This is type of longer term ergonomics and quality of life stuff that reviewers should address.

I am still trying to figure out the super limiting awkward controls where one function gets replicated to both buds needlessly taking away some very essential controls and idiotically replicating the limited control on both buds thus limiting the already limited controls why ? Maybe their brilliant Edifier engineers decide to be lazy and say screw the paying customers we just can’t be bothered
Just take it as it is. Good job Edifier shows how you care about your devoted clients

  • @AllenReinecke

Been trying these for a few days. For the price, I think these have an excellent sound, with some EQ'ing, and a surprisingly good ANC (probably because I can get superb passive noise control with those tips). ANC-on wind noise is bad even in a slight breeze. Also even with ANC off! However the controls are an absolute deal breaker for me. AWFUL! Why make the left and right buds do exactly the same thing and no option to change single press??? I use my phone to control the music and forget the buttons entirely.

@@zendex8017 I still have them but have not used them since I wrote this comment. I charge all my buds up every few weeks but I've settled on my Sony XM4 buds and my XM5 headphones. Both have great sound, though the XM5'S are awesome and I use them in my home.

Man that faired really badly on the voice isolation test. There was barely any voice isolation. Not recommended for those who take meetings outdoors or who work from home with a lot of dogs/children. The Neobuds pro (not the Neobuds S) are just slightly more expensive but have far superior voice isolation.

03:10 limited controls is a total dealbreaker. Who the heck needs both buttons to do the same selected function??? Even my cheap Tranya M10 has full independent button controls.
I truly don't understand this release from Edifier. Besides included ANC, they are inferior in every way to their own TWS1 Pro, and absolutely inferior to most competition at that price and cheaper.
