    Looks really great! Not sure I agree with the recommendation of a drill or (especially) angle grinder to cut out a channel in drywall. A drywall jab saw and the ability to draw straight, vertcial lines ( square, ruler, etc.) makes more sense & they don't cost much.

    • @AlphaMachina
      @AlphaMachina 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +EverythingisFire All you have to do is punch a whole behind the monitors, another hole behind the desk, and pull the wires through with a fiberglass wire pulling kit. I do it on a daily basis setting up home/office/business networks.

    • @AlphaMachina
      @AlphaMachina 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cast-in-place walls, yeah. I got ya. But no, I didn't work that out. People don't do that around here unless it's a commercial space, and even then, 2x4's are added and walls are built on the inside of the concrete to add sheetrock so that it's easier to run electrical and other cables. Bare concrete walls, though, not so much.

    • @AlphaMachina
      @AlphaMachina 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You should have made it clear that it was a solid concrete wall you were working on. Apparently I'm not the only one that didn't work that out. We just thought you were a masochist.

  • @whuber97
    @whuber97 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    In the US, burying power cables in the wall as you describe violates electrical code. For the low voltage wires like HDMI/displayport/etc., it's no issue, but the power cables need to be connected to an electrical outlet that is installed up high behind the monitor/TV by a certified electrician.

    Great video! I'll have to reevaluate my gaming setup. I have about 30 consoles hooked up to the tv. It's the power cables that are causing the problem on my setup. I might have to get a different type of power strip than the ones I'm currently using. I have dark glass shelves so I definitely won't be drilling through it. I'll try them cable clips, velcro cable ties and some tube wraps to hide stuff. Wish me luck 😃🤞

    Honestly hands down this is the best cable management I've ever seen in my entire life. Zero cables in sight. I'm envious my friend. I would drill the walls and do try to do the same but I rent this house so that's not an option :/
    I know this video is old, but if you can throw a guide on cable management DIY I would really appreciate it :)

    one things for sure none of us can beat the dust, its everywhere no matter how many times you fight against it all it takes is one night for dust to build up a little, it keeps coming forever and having a setup like this can cause a lot of dust underneath even the table, but it might be better under than over, maybe the best thing is to just accept the cables all over the place, and it won't hurt you anymore, the same thing as accepting your imperfections.

      Ricky that's a bit of an extreme, I was diagnosed with obsessive compulsive disorder at the age of 8. I've never actually heard of being like that. For me, I have 14 alarms set In the morning, my first alarm is at 6:23 and that's when I get out of bed, my second alarm is 6:26 is when I leave my room and brush my teeth, and after brushing my teeth I tap my toothbrush 12 times on the side of the sink (not that I keep track of it, I kinda do it subconsciously) and I still have 12 more alarms set for different things, and if I do any of them out of line I feel like my whole day is messed up. Like you know that feeling when you go on a trip and you feel like your forgetting Somthing? I feel like that's the best way to describe how I feel like half of my life. I would say my condition is some what mild, but I've never heard of it being like how you described it lol.

    I like the drilling in the desk idea. Nice and simple. You must have plaster walls and dont have Drywall, I'm sure building codes and materials used are different where you are. Thankfully, we have drywall and soft insulation which makes fishing wires inside walls extremely easy. No plaster needed. Just cut your holes, fish your cables, and slap up a wall plate.

    That is a Stunning Setup I'm trying to achieve something similar but I used an extra deep kitchen worktop for the surface area so I could have a 10 foot desk without any sections the downside is the surface is not glossy on the upside the surface is incredibly tough it doesn't seem to scratch easily at all and it looks great I'll try and post a video when it's complete thanks for the cable management advice.
