  • “Tears of Isis” soundtrack is featured on Ani’s new album release Guardians of the Dragon Path, a collection of songs to accompany the book of the same title. The lyrics are drawn from the Egyptian lamentation rituals of Isis and Nephthys which celebrated the annual summer inundation of the Nile, when the tears of the two sister-goddesses lamenting the death of Osiris filled the river to bring fertility to the region.
A variation of this Egyptian ritual is celebrated August 15th in the Mystery Plays of Elche Cathedral, Elche, Spain, with the Christian Marys enacting the roles of Isis and Nephthys; the cultural blending of Egyptian and Spanish flamenco styles is evident in the song. Interestingly, the French philosopher and historian Voltaire (1694-1778) described Spanish music and ritual customs as being descended from the Egyptian priests and priestesses of Isis.
The Guardians of the Dragon Path book, music album, and videos are linked on the artist’s site: aniwilliams.com/product/guard.... Song features Ani Williams on harp, vocals and sistrum, and Pablo Belchi Gabarron on flamenco guitar. Recording and mixing Barthelemy Izoard. Film by Le Poulpiquet ©2023 Ani Williams

I had images of Isis hovering over Osiris in her Swallow form. Beaming rays of light onto him, then he stood up and they stood together as beings. Beautiful. Absolutely beautiful ❤️😊
