This is the best movie ever filmed. I live in Hope B.C. where it was filmed. was in grade 3 I think and we got to go for field trips down town to watch film. I watched the filming when he ran out of the police station and tackled the guy on the motor cycle it was awesome. In filming the the bike actually went into the crowd and hit my cousin. My dad has the ladder that was in the police station that pulled from the roof.
This is the movie that made Sylvester Stallone stand out to me and rank him as my favorite actor. I knew that Stallone had done the Rambo movies but never seen any of the Rambo movies, it wasn’t until I saw First Blood on AMC when I said “Okay, Mr. Stallone, now you have my attention.”
He was a great Cool Actor I remember he was in a film before his iconic role as Col Trautman, the film was titled Devil's Dog The Hound Of Hell, He played a typical Father and Husband who deafeted the Devil's Dog At the end👍👍👍🥂
When he passed away the mentioned in the news he was iconic as Coloniel Trautman even though he played so many other roles before and after the Rambo Films, "I Come To Get My Boy. I recruited Him, I Trained Him, I Commanded him in Vietnam for four Years, I say that makes him Mine!" ( Trautman speaking to the Sheriff Teasel and Officer Dave at the control center)
Seeing this movie in the early 80's as a kid really made a strong impression. For me and a couple friends of mine at the time who loved everything military and playing in the woods....everything about the movie captured your imagination if you were that kind of kid. Fast forward to the late 90's, myself and a friend found ourselves in Hope BC while hitchhiking across Canada. absolutely beautiful and scenic little town and surrounding area. I remember stopping at a small coffee/doughnut shop and they had some literature pamphlets about First Blood being filmed there...which was an awesome little surprise.
One of the most suspenseful action pacted films I've ever seen. I was absolutely thrilled watching First Blood the first time and it never gets boring.
I remember when my mom and dad took me in my brother to see Rambo at the movies it was a double feature so we got to see Rambo and red Dawn. Rambo is and will always be one of my favorite movies. And I love the book
The last 10 minute scene in First Blood was the greatest acting moment of Sylvestre Stallones career. He should have received an Oscar for that performance. It hits hard at the truth and has reduced me to tears. This film is iconic, brilliant, and legendary. It is action packed from start to finish. It brought out the plight of Vietnam veterans. It highlighted the specialised skills of the Green Beret's to perfection and illustrated why 'elite special forces' are called that. Richard Crenna and Brian Dennehy gave totally superb performances. Altogether one of the best films I have ever watched in my life.
Glad to have found this. Great trip thru memory lane. This was always looked upon as a successful action movie but i think it goes just a little deeper. It's an emotional time bomb that goes off in that final moment when Rambo falls apart. I was about 10 when it came out. It's the part i still love most till this day.
Still the best film in the franchise, that fact that he never kills anyone is probably my favorite fact about the movie. We get to see that he's dangerous and highly skilled but the fact that he never kills anyone and he gives that line, "Don't push it, I'll give you a war you wouldn't believe" after incapacitating all the deputies... damn. That's some heavy shit, I still get goosebumps about it.
This movie will always be one of the best action/drama movies of all time. I'm from 94 and when I was 8 I saw it the first time and from that time off I was hooked and saw every Rambo and Rocky movie about 20-30 times :D
Rocky will be the more revered of the two legendary characters, but First Blood is Stallone’s FINEST acting performance by miles .. just an outstanding piece of cinema, my 3rd all-time favorite
This movie is a masterpiece from top to bottom. They way story is told it's so captivating and Stallone makes the role of his life showing top skills.I' ce seen this movie on video tape in 95 when I was just 11 years old and since then I got to see it again for 30 or 40 times.Like Alien, like Terminator 2, like Platoon, full metal jacket and many super movie that are far better than what we have today, First Blood is there in the peak of the American cinematography.
Thank you for posting this…Through the power of TH-cam you get to see and hear things you would normally not ….Clicked on this on a whim..Always loved Sylvester …But …Hearing his take on the Vietnam Soldiers and how he didn’t want them to feel that there was no way out…Well…That really seals the deal…True legend and a nice guy too….
Music was incredible...Goldsmith!!! End scene is one of the great acting performances Stallone never will get credit for...and that is what makes him a legend! We have such low expectations for Stallone he always wins in the end.
Great film. The story, the acting, and the scenery. I think the 1st time I saw it, I was 10 years old when it aired on USA television for the 1st time, just before Rambo II came out, I think a couple of weeks. And I was just mesmerized by the whole thing and still am.
Very important movie in my life, theres alot to learn from our friend Rambo. Everytime i watch First Blood, i get a little bit emotional. Love this movie!👍

I can’t imagine John Rambo without Sylvester Stallone :). I saw Rambo Last Blood in the Cinema with my boss and we both loved it :) !
My favorite movie of all time. Great acting, great actors, great directing, great story, great filming locations, beautiful music. The only movie I have watched over and over and never get sick of it. For some reason it touches my soul.

This movie is a great lesson to those who dont know about that war and how the war was faught with a not all in to Win mentality . Same for the Afghanistan war for a more contemporary example . The filming location and music was perfect. The miserable weather and beautiful scenary really gave it a cold intense wintery feel, weather i'm used to seeing here in the U.K.
Great short film about First blood. Thank you so much for posting it here. My favourite movie and soundtrack. There is some kind of magic with the movie.
I love it. Beautiful soundtrack. One of the saddest scenes is right at the start of the film happy and smiling to when he realises his old friend from his special forces team had died leaving him as the last one wandering lost with PTSD in grief...
I can't remember seeing the movie as a kid but I definitely remember wanting a Rambo Knife. A killer knife and secret survival kit in one package? Amazing!! Every boy's dream.
The best action movie I’ve ever seen! Stallone is amazing in the lead role, with Brian Dennehy and Richard Crenna contributing massively to the movie! Great music throughout the film!
This movie got everything right. Great cast(Sly, Dennehy, Crenna, Caruso, Jack Starrett), great cinematography, great film orchestration, great script. Bad ass movie through and through

+Jeremy Costello I did not like the series much. The first movie-First blood was great The sadness of it. The lonly soldier that has to fight back. But the coming movies where just action. And rambo turned out to be this real mascular person showing of his body-Stalon in the first movie hardly looked like a body builder
Rambo brought a weak version of the Vietnam to his fellow Americans, but did not murder them like he and his kind did to the innocent people of Vietnam. Fuck 'Rambo' and everything he wasted his life on.
Brother Malachai. Most times when there is a succeful movie Holliwod will make non stop sequels that most of the time would be shit. Some time a sequel is very good- Like in Back to the future 2, The goodfather 2, Terminator 2(which is better then the first one in my opnion) But when u go on to 3,4,5 most times they have not got nothing to do with the first one. I did not like the rocky series much- The second one was shit and very slow but- Rocky 3 was one of the best movies ive seen. Silvester Stalone wrote the script and gave everything in that movie. But that was one of the only number 3s that was better then all the others. Back to the future 3 was no level close to one and two. The goodfather 3.... after i watched Ramo 2 and 3 i realy did not like them. As i had not liked rocky 4,5,6- He should have stoped at rocky 3- But they never stop when they think they would cash in on the sequels. First blood told A commando soldiers story. He fought alone for his life. That was what made it so big in my opnion. Then They thought-Sly is a big star The movie was a big succes so lets do what we always do- Destroy the gretness of the first one by making crapi sequels.
greatest movie ever about the vets. they were trained to fight and to survive. but when they were home in the states, they were called babykillers. SUCH A SHAME! i was born in germany. my dad was a soldier in viet and germany. the last days he lived, he told me about vietnam. the did what they had to do. the Civilian people hated them for it. vets are the victims. as a upright person i say: we owe them so much! never forget! greetings from cologne, germany arthur brehm
Oh how I love this film. I remember the first time i saw First Blood when my school showed it in the school hall..the moment Rambo ran Amok in the police station, all of us high school boys went into a frenzy and started throwing chairs. We Felt his anger..until our school teacher had to stop the film at that moment and all of us received a tounge lashing. After about 15 minutes of Apologizing and begging to him to put the film back finally he took pity on us and continued the film again. We all watch it quietly after that until the end. We loved First Blood so much!
i really like how they edited it...especialy when cl. says, "there was a time when he was very special.." and then the music starts in the background. i wonder if others appreciate this kind of stuff...
Stollone is never seen as an intellectual or "bright" but he has a wisdom and sensibility that has proven gold over his career. In the end, he was the brightest of them all! How many studio execs have come and gone, writers, directors? We can all give grace to any man in Hollywood attaching to the wrong woman...that's a given.
After Columbia, Warners and Universal were all turned down "Rambo: First Blood" for a host of reasons then Orion finally picked up and it became a winner, when the film released on October 22, 1982 and went on to become a box office success. The "Rambo" franchise has been both successful and profitable. The rights were now owned by Lionsgate/StudioCanal between May 12, 1985 and today while Trifecta Entertainment & Media got the TV syndication rights on most films such as the "Rambo" trilogy, according to Nick Redman, Paul Seydor, Garner Simmons and David Weddle along with Julie Kirgo, Lem Dobbs, Jeff Bond, Jon & Marilee Burlingame, Elayne Boosler and Bill Siddons, Shelley Ackerman, Bonita, Brenda Strong, Kathryn Bigelow, Mark Rydell, Nicholas Meyer, Christine Lahti and Thomas Schlamme, Stefanie Powers, Elaine Wilkes, Terry Moore, Karen & Kat Kramer, Camille Fielding, Molly Haskell Sarris and Dr. Ruth Mandel.
I remember first watching First Blood, and I loved it. I looked into it and found out that it was based on the novel of the same name, and that its character, John Rambo, was more violent, even more merciless than this movie version. The more I read about the Rambo character in the novel, the more I liked the movie version of Rambo.
Great movie and an epic soundtrack from Jerry Goldsmith. One of those movies you absolutely have to watch when flipping channels, even though you've already seen it a hundred times!
I saw First Blood part II first and I was impressed. At the end of that one was this exchange between Trautman and Rambo: "You'll probably get another Medal of Honor, Johnny." "Give it to them. (Pointing at the guys he just rescued) They deserve it." "Everything that happened here may be wrong, but dammit, don't hate your country for it." "Hate it? I'd die for it." "Then what DO YOU want?" "I want what they want! I want what every guy came over here and spilled his guts for wants! For our country to love us as much as we... love it! That's what I want!" I was in the USAF at the time and I got choked up. I didn't have to fight in a shooting war when I was in the military, thank God. But I got it. And I heard that there were many Viet Nam war veterans who saw it and burst out crying after that scene.
I busted off, when Richard Crenna says "we wanted to see Rambo successfully get on with his life" because immediately the arrest and the labor camp came to mind (from the beginning of First Blood II).
Thanks so much. Didn't know Kirk Douglas was offered the part of the colonel. My first motorbike was the Yamaha XT 250 which I bought new in 1981. Great example of the high concept film. Unforgettable.
I was 6 years old when this movie was in the cinema. My dad tried to sneak me in but we got caught. So dad got a pirate copy a few weeks later.Ive also read the book several times or more which in its on way is just as good as the film.Interesting difference in the book, when rambo escapes from jail he isnt wearing any clothes and so steals that motorbike naked.
Jeez its amazing to see so much effort being put before bringing out a movie. One of my favourite movies. Terrific script and brilliant acting , never bores you.
I still LOVE this movie today. It's because it is very real and believable. That the absolute best green beret could do all these things. Unlike so many movies that are just unbelievable in so many ways. However, the greatness of First Blood, is the story behind the action scenes. There was nothing that left me disappointed or left wondering. It's probably my favorite movie ever as far as action movies go, with a great story behind it, which is really the foundation for the movie. That, and I have always been a huge Stallone fan.
Great documentary, Kirk Douglass story is good. The film having a Jerry Goldsmith score makes the film for me. "All action films come from First Blood". Bloke in the documentary. Used to be able to watch the whole film on TH-cam. Can't now.
awesome, loved that , never forget seeing that film as 13 year old lad, 80s VHS , blew my mind. To this day a great action film. Love it. Great to hear back story of hw it came about. Ted kotcheif made my other fav film, wake in Fright.
Same here. I rented the movie. VHS early 80s. I'm now 65. Last year I ordered the knife from V.Neeley of Lile knives. Took 2 months for him to make it. It's my #1prized possession. Worth every penny. I will pass it on to my grandson. Have fun.
I think First Blood caused a nation to do some soul searching. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial (i.e. the Wall) was built shortly after this movie came out. I think this movie was the impetus for Rolling Thunder. The year was either '91 or '92. I lived in Northern Virginia. I had never seen so many Harleys in my life during Memorial Day weekend. Every hotel/motel was slam packed. I was fortunate that my eldest sister married a veteran of the Vietnam War. He had been U.S. Army Special Forces (Green Beret). Being associated with him, I had the privilege to meet some other veterans of the war. You would have never known they had been soldiers. A bunch of laid-back guys... unless they got provoked by someone. The last thing you ever wanted to do was to make one of these veterans mad!
Good afternoon. I was nine years old when i first saw this movie on hbo. I remember they had been promoting it for weeks prior to its initial showing. I was immediately captivated by this film… i’ve seen it around 17 times. The score gives the movie a soft, almost sad sentiment at times. During action scenes the music flows beautifully. Breaking out of the holding cell, taking down the kid on the bike, the chase through the rural, muddy and wet landscape…. Amazingly put together - just beautiful. Similar in scope to the first predator film and its relative musical accompaniment. I’ve watched the movie on dvd with the audio commentary (great background information) but this video post, i feel, is superior because it includes Mr. Stallone and his thoughts on the making of such a profound endeavor. The whole vietnam war issue was such a mess, such a delicate subject… he co-wrote the screenplay (script?), so that definitely gives him ownership and direction of the protagonist and the final outcome. I’ve been tempted to read the book, but i’ve shied away from it fearing that it may take away from how i feel about the movie.
@@K1ng1995 Hi. I would love to, and honestly, i think i will. I was reading that they have some sort of festival, but that it usually takes place in october (?). Anyway, thank u for the invite 🤙👊👍
Just a bit of resonance re: Kirk Douglas whose film, Lonely Are The Brave, is very similar to First Blood as a "wilderness manhunt" that frustrates law enforcement until the very final moments...
First Blood is timeless!
Richard Crenna, Brian Dennehy. Two of the best movie actors ever. RIP to both of them.

"Here I cant get a job parking fucking cars"
greatest movie ever about the vets.
they were trained to fight and to survive.
but when they were home in the states, they were called babykillers.

Legendary movie and actors forever remembered seen it so many times
Oh how I love this film. I remember the first time i saw First Blood when my school showed it in the school hall..the moment Rambo ran Amok in the police station, all of us high school boys went into a frenzy and started throwing chairs. We Felt his anger..until our school teacher had to stop the film at that moment and all of us received a tounge lashing. After about 15 minutes of Apologizing and begging to him to put the film back finally he took pity on us and continued the film again. We all watch it quietly after that until the end. We loved First Blood so much!
I can't imagine ANYONE but Richard Crenna as Trautman..
i really like how they edited it...especialy when cl. says, "there was a time when he was very special.." and then the music starts in the background. i wonder if others appreciate this kind of stuff...
After Columbia, Warners and Universal were all turned down "Rambo: First Blood" for a host of reasons then Orion finally picked up and it became a winner, when the film
released on October 22, 1982 and went on to become a box office success. The "Rambo" franchise has been both successful and profitable. The rights were now
owned by Lionsgate/StudioCanal between May 12, 1985 and today while Trifecta
Entertainment & Media got the TV syndication rights on most films such as the
"Rambo" trilogy, according to Nick Redman, Paul Seydor, Garner Simmons and
David Weddle along with Julie Kirgo, Lem Dobbs, Jeff Bond, Jon & Marilee
Burlingame, Elayne Boosler and Bill Siddons, Shelley Ackerman, Bonita,
Brenda Strong, Kathryn Bigelow, Mark Rydell, Nicholas Meyer, Christine Lahti
and Thomas Schlamme, Stefanie Powers, Elaine Wilkes, Terry Moore, Karen &
Kat Kramer, Camille Fielding, Molly Haskell Sarris and Dr. Ruth Mandel.
Fantastic film and the last act takes First Blood head and shoulders above all the other Rambo films. Classic
How suave Richard Crenna was. Top class.
Brilliant film completed by the brilliant theme music
In my top 10 all-time greatest movies! Superb job on this video.
watched this on a multi broadcast top-loader with remote control on a wire. Happy days.
They just dont make em like this anymore
Why cant this be done in Hollywood anymore? Thanks for the upload.
"God didn't make Rambo, I made him" Haha.. Classy.. lmao
I saw First Blood part II first and I was impressed. At the end of that one was this exchange between Trautman and Rambo:
"You'll probably get another Medal of Honor, Johnny."
"Give it to them. (Pointing at the guys he just rescued) They deserve it."
"Everything that happened here may be wrong, but dammit, don't hate your country for it."
"Hate it? I'd die for it."
"Then what DO YOU want?"
"I want what they want! I want what every guy came over here and spilled his guts for wants! For our country to love us as much as we... love it! That's what I want!"
I was in the USAF at the time and I got choked up. I didn't have to fight in a shooting war when I was in the military, thank God. But I got it. And I heard that there were many Viet Nam war veterans who saw it and burst out crying after that scene.
Absolutely excellent film one of the best of all time.
AMC showed this today. Of course I had to watch it again !!!
I busted off, when Richard Crenna says "we wanted to see Rambo successfully get on with his life" because immediately the arrest and the labor camp came to mind (from the beginning of First Blood II).
I Grew up in Hope BC,watched this being filmed when I was 9.
I watched this recently again. it is just as good as in the 80s
Thanks for putting this up. One of the most loved films of my childhood....way bigger to me than Star Wars and equaled only by Red Dawn and Rocky.
Thanks so much. Didn't know Kirk Douglas was offered the part of the colonel. My first motorbike was the Yamaha XT 250 which I bought new in 1981. Great example of the high concept film. Unforgettable.
Good freaking movie. I'm watching it right now Lol.
My dad snuck me in to see Rambo: First Blood Part II and succeeded.
Your dad sounds like a top fella.
Jeez its amazing to see so much effort being put before bringing out a movie. One of my favourite movies. Terrific script and brilliant acting , never bores you.
One of my best film ever. It looks so real.
Can't now.
One of the best films in history.
I love this movie so much. Sly is a great gift to us all.
I first watched this movie just a few years above. I tried hard to hold my tears at the ending.
One of my all time favorites
awesome, loved that , never forget seeing that film as 13 year old lad, 80s VHS , blew my mind.
Have fun.
It's nice see a movie film in my hometown knowing where every place is
Trautman : "It's over Johnny"
Rambo : Just finished Rambo V
Come to Hope BC on July 1st they celebrate Rambo day. I've been and its a lot of fun

Hi. I would love to, and honestly, i think i will. I was reading that they have some sort of festival, but that it usually takes place in october (?). Anyway, thank u for the invite 🤙👊👍
Perfect cast, script, music its a *Super Classic* iconic
Rambo: " I didn't do anything"!
Me: It's true,he didn't do anything,leave him alone!
best rambo!
Still the only ‘Rambo’ movie I watch.
Just a bit of resonance re: Kirk Douglas whose film, Lonely Are The Brave, is very similar to First Blood as a "wilderness manhunt" that frustrates law enforcement until the very final moments...
MASTERPIECE...❤
This movie together with Predator 1 are THE best action movies ever ...
