    Good pros and cons! Pretty much totally agree, although I’m glad my bed doesn’t leak. My old shell leaked like crazy and stoked the Ovrlnd doesn’t. The low profile flexibility and lightweight is what sold it for me!

    Man I have the Alu-Cab and now I really wish I went with the OVRLND Campers. Just having the extra space just makes it so much more roomy on the inside. Oh having a side awning or a 290 awning make the outside spot like into another room that is nice. Oh for that 3rd gen taco bed holes sikaflex fill them up. Great video!

    • @HeyJonMoore
      @HeyJonMoore  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Man, it's never too late. I'm sure you could flip that Alu-Cab in a heartbeat if you wanted to. But the 290 awning sounds like an even better and less expensive proposition. And thank you for that recco! I'm stoked to get that patched up

    Great video Jon! I’ve got an install scheduled for my ovrlnd in a few weeks. I also have a gen 3 Tacoma.
    That leak issue got me worried.
    I’ll have to reach out to them and see if there’s anything I can do beforehand to make sure it’s sealed.
    My wife and I are swapping our 13ft fiberglass trailer for the ovrlnd.
    -A big pro of the truck camper for us is being able to do quick weekend trips without having to pull the trailer behind. Even though it’s a small trailer it still adds to stress levels and bad fuel economy on the highway.
    -Another pro is being able to turn around. I can’t tell you how many times with the trailer we couldn’t check out a dirt road for fear of there not being adequate space to turn around.
    -the one con of the truck camper vs a trailer is you can leave your campsite fully setup with a trailer and go explore with your unloaded vehicle.
    That’s the only con I can think of other than the ones you mentioned.
    Again great video and look forward to more! Thanks

    • @HeyJonMoore
      @HeyJonMoore  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks Matt! Yes, just make sure it's sealed up before you install the camper. I'm sure OVRLND has the fix for this now.
      Thanks for all the notes too! And you're totally right about not being able to leave it at the site. That is clutch in some situations.
      Appreciate you man.

    Awesome video! I full time in one of the “Hiatus” campers on a 1st gen Tacoma.
    Another pro (if you do happen to have 4wd): is being light and nimble enough to enjoy some jeep trails and get a little flexy! For my lady and I we hunt out these trails and MTB trails.
    With and OVRLND (or a Hiatus) your camper doesn’t have to be JUST a camper, it can also double as an off road toy (if that is at all your thing). Maybe this is just a case for being more “nimble” than other sorts of campers.

    I had a 2023 four-wheel camper, hawk fully loaded and sold it in 6 months. Had some bad storms roll in in the middle of the night, and I couldn't even get the pop top down in one of them. And the noise from outside is unbearable.
    Im getting ready to purchase either the Alaskan truck camper or small hard sided camper.

    Greetings from Pontassieve in the province of Florence I have a fantastic Suzuki Jimmy 4x4 1.3 LT van with a 2001 m13a petrol engine that I use on mountain and forest roads and on gravel and scree dirt roads and I also use it to transport agricultural loads and for me the Suzuki Jimmy 4x4 remains the best 4x4 thanks to its smaller size compared to large 4x4 off-road vehicles and then it remains the best 4x4 vehicle because I live in the countryside and work in the agricultural sector

    • @HeyJonMoore
      @HeyJonMoore  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You hit the nail on the head. It's only a problem if you don't adequately seal it up before the install. One of the other comments mentioned Skillaflex. Might look into that. Although I'm sure that the folks at OVRLND have a fix for it by this point.

    The gap in the tacoma is just completely stupid. It makes no sense why it was designed that way. It's as if it was designed only to frustrate the owner. I see no other function it could serve.
