    So kewl to see it all coming together. Great job on the landing gear paint, a different take on them that came out pretty sharp. 🤔 Definitely borrowing that 👍.

    That is looking bloody terrific! The engine etc are....stunning. She's going to look unbelievable when she's all tarred up .....I can't wait to see her finished.
    One concern I do have is that the landing flaps on the Spit' were either full up or full down as far as I've ever known. I happily stand to be corrected though.
    You must be pleased with her; I'd be thrilled!

    • @monsieurchevrebois9811
      @monsieurchevrebois9811 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Correct, the flap switch is up or down. You could always say there was a hydraulic leak !
      Thanks for the tip about the missing instruction for the reflector gun sight. That perspex piece is not in the instructions and it's a bugger to fit afterwards.

    • @johnalecsscalemodeling
      @johnalecsscalemodeling  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks appreciate that clarification and Monsieur's below as well. I was so tempted to leave them fully up. I don't think I've even seen them all the way down. Fortunately, they're only a smidge open! Thanks for watching and commenting

    • @johnalecsscalemodeling
      @johnalecsscalemodeling  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you as well, appreciated. The way I glued it, Wouldn't be too much effort to close them up. Yeah, I could see the part, and the basin, then noticed they don't tell you to put it in. In the instructions, the perspex and the sight seem to be in one piece. Thanks for watching.

      The pilot selected flaps down, Pneumatic pressure snapped them down quickly, and the little flap on the top of the wing opened, to allow space for the linkage. When down the flaps were almost at 90 degrees. selecting flaps up, dumped pneumatic pressure, and the flaps spring loaded shut(up). the flaps were not left down for three reasons. 1. they could be damaged on grass if the aircraft bounced. 2. flaps down restricted airflow through the radiators, on a long taxi the engine could overheat. 3. pneumatic pressure was only applied with flaps down, and the jacks lost air, which the pilot needed for the brakes. The only hydraulic system on the spitfire was the undercarriage. John the model is Stunning

    You never saw the flaps down because they were liable to be damaged while taxying, they were so close to the grass. Most pilots seem to select "Up" on the rollout, or feel the ire of "Chiefy". Does not detract at all from your superb model. Your channel is so relaxing...

      Thank you Glyn - I used VMS Satin HD varnish. The Vallejo ones are ok as well, you need to thin them with their thinner tho. The VMS you can spray as is or thin with water. Thanks for watching!
