I just love it when they bring guests to attractions that aren't as beloved as your Pirates or Haunted Mansions and they defend it so hard to the point of almost delusion. It's so fun.
The land pavilion is in the shape of a volcano! If you look at the concrete in front, it looks like lava coming out of the volcano. What makes new land? A volcano.
I went into this podcast with zero passion for theme parks and now want to actually go and ride the (slower) rides. This podcast is my happy place because it's just people discussing the things they love intelligently and ardently. This episode is a great example of what makes FYA so special. You can't beat Offhand's enthusiasm for this ride!
I just have to say Dallin is the real deal. Met him at WDW in January and he got stuck in our skyliner gondola. We talked the whole ride and he spent much of it talking about his love for LWTL.
I ate at garden grill for my 9th birthday dinner and they had all the characters come over and they had the whole restaurant stop and sing to me and other diners kept stopping by to wish me a happy birthday, so that restaurant and living with the land always hold a special memory in my heart
Ok first of all, this might be the best episode yet. Secondly, I feel compelled to inform you guys (and Dallin) about Fruit & Spice Park in Homestead, FL. For $10 you ride in a tram through a botanical garden/orchard while a tour guide teaches you about each of the fruit/spice trees. Each area is divided by different regions of the world, and you can hop off of the tram and eat any fruit that fell on the ground. A must do for Living With The Land heads
I don't have an attachment to this ride, so i have no skin in whether or not this passes or fails. However, I disagree with failing it on innovation. A crucial innovation of this ride was overlooked in the discussion: it pushes sustainable food sourcing for theme parks forward. Theme parks use up a lot of energy and tend to be not great for the environment. By introducing an attraction that both sustainably provides food for the park ( cutting out the pollution created by transporting food to the park on ships and trucks) AND has the potential to reduce the park's carbon footprint by planting crops that would absorb some carbon emissions - it seems like this attraction is a huge step forward into a future where sustainable and environmentally conscious practices are standard in park operations. its not the most exciting innovation in terms of fancy ride technology, but i would argue that its potentially a massive innovation in terms of park management and logistics.
I rode this for the first time yesterday and I have to say, it's an instant new favorite. I like that the tropical greenhouse portion shows you plants that you may not have seen in the wild before-- Papaya, dates, ginger root, and (of course) breadfruit were all things I'd never seen growing in person before. It's like a zoo for plants!
This is my highschool orchestra teacher's favorite ride. When we went to Disney as an orchestra he kept recommending it(which isn't surprising cause he has a farm at home). So as a gift from my senior class I made him a hat with glittery letters that said "The Land's #1 Fan". He was very thrilled lol
I don't know how to really describe it, but I feel like Living with the Land perfectly captures what Epcot is about. It's my favorite ride there. I go annually for food and wine and after getting a really nice buzz around world showcase I love heading over there to just vibe. Get on a boat, zone out, relax and just be at peace. It's so zen, and I could live in the garden. If you ever get there chance to take the walking tour, do it.
Ok, but as someone who works in both ag and science, there are really NO facilities with world class research that don't have INSANE biosecurity controls, but you got whole boatloads of people just gliding through?! That's already world class ride design, which is also likely the real reason they do not let you wader, especially where there are fish and aquaponics involved, that stuff does not like contamination. I get not everyone would be as stoked as i am hearing about it, never been to Disney but this sounds like my jam. I actually really agree with Ryan that more people should care about what the idea behind the ride says and how the systems work to feed people, bc we all need to eat and we should respect the process that makes that happen
As an adult I took my partner to Epcot for the first time and took him on Living with the Land and when we got off and for days after he just kept talking about it and how much he loved the ride lol It’s one of my favorites and I’m glad that as someone who doesn’t know or go to theme parks and has no nostalgia attached to it, he loved Living with the Land as much I do!
This is my dad’s favorite ride (he’s a farmer). When we first started going he liked seeing the new farm techniques. Nowadays it’s outdated but he still likes it for promoting farm life
There is something really special about old EPCOT and I think Living With The Land perfectly shows this. The shiny new toys of Cosmic Rewind and Remy’s are great, but it’s rides like The Land and Spaceship Earth that make me love going to EPCOT.
Definitely one of my favorites. I did the Behind the Seeds tour last week. You get a slice of cucumber to sample and get to feed the fish. Very cool tour. Rode the ride right after and got evacuated right after the dark ride part and basically got to retrace the path from the tour. It was the best day!
Standing by you, Ryan. I went on this attraction on my last trip precisely bc I heard you guys and other theme park heads praising it, and it really is magical. I had no idea there was a tour until it was too late to book one, so I’m absolutely going to book one less dining reservation on my next trip so that I can take the tour! Was not expecting it to wind up world class but I think you and Dallin’s arguments were 100% valid and not shoehorning it in.
We go on this LWTL every time we go and my small kids are fascinated by it too. The dark scenes are amazing and the greenhouse is so cool for the adults while the kids LOVE looking for hidden Mickey's. I would definitely want to work on that ride as a CM.
one of my sibling and I’s favorite bits is talking about Living with the Land’s crazy “fifty foot drop” while waiting in the queue and boarding. I’m so ready for this.
Living with the Land is always a must do for me whenever I go to Epcot. I love how its just a relaxing ride. No thrills, no flashy gadgets. Just serene. It keeps the spirit of Epcot and for being such an old attraction it holds up to this day.
As a child, I always thought that the farmhouse belonged to John and Sarah (from Carousel of Progress). I have loved this ride since I was really little - the Mickey watermelon blew my mind. Epcot has always been my favourite since I was young - growing up in the 80s/90s. LWTL is a gem and a close second to Spaceship Earth for me.
Also....I definitely credit Spaceship Earth for my becoming a linguist. Just saying....might not be aquaponics, but could definitely happen :) Also, my (then) 11-year-old declared this as his favourite ride after his first time. He still talks about it 18 months later.
I gotta go with YES Living with the Land pushes theme park tech forward. No other ride in the world has a working farm that not only grows its own food but then makes that food available in the theme park. That is an extremely efficient system. Then need to start raising cattle at Animal Kingdom to help complete that cycle.
I went to Disney for the first time last year at age 44 and have been back twice since then. I love Living with the Land for two major reasons. One, because I'm older, I like the slower, more peaceful rides just as much as I like the thrill rides. Two, I was on that ride with my friends when I managed to snag our first ever virtual queue for Guardians of the Galaxy for our whole groups, so it just has good memories for me.
THE MOMENT I'VE ALL BEEN WAITING FOR! Offhand Disney and FYA collab. Naturally, where Offhand Disney goes, Living with the Land follows. Or is that the other way around? WHATEVER! My Tuesday CANNOT get any better! So stoked to hear the whole thing. Love you guys!
i haven’t been to epcot since i was around 5 yrs old so i didn’t remember much. when i went in 2022 i didn’t have any expectations except for being excited to “drink around the world” with my friends. we were all so pleasantly surprised w this ride and the calm ambience, the green house, and the learning aspect. it’s now my favorite ride in disney world and if i ever get to go back i would definitely want to ride this ride multiple times again💓
😅 laughed at them talking about being inspired to do aquaponics. I distinctly remember sending ride videos to my brother who WAS actually studying aquaponics and freshwater science.
This ride was such a fun experience! Rode it my first time last summer, I love the theming of the whole building it felt super nostalgic! I love this podcast ! Never stop making episodes !
I don't know what you guys were talking about, of the current pavilion buildings, the Land is my favorite building architecturally. It is fantastic from the outside, especially the mural on the entrance, and I really like the shape and look of the glass roof. Horizons was a cooler building for sure, but the land is the best building currently at epcot :)
I. Love. This. Ride. (I used to work there but regardless I would still love it) I want to come back now that I have finished the episode to say I love how this ride was defended. Y’all get it ❤
When and if you do Muppet Vision 3D. I want the episode to start by saying "It's The 'For Your Amusement' Show with our very special guest star Insert Name here! Yeeeaa :D" Anyways. Looking forward to this! It is a World Class to me. Not even a joke :D Edit- This ride deserves the World Class Pass and I am glad Offhand fought for it!
I’m still early into the video and I’m genuinely surprised to hear that most people don’t like living with the land!!!!!!! I went on it for the first (and only) time 5 years ago and I loved it!!!!!! I knew it wasn’t popular cuz I’ve never heard of it online but it was so peaceful I miss it lol
True story: sitting at dinner the other day recapping our yearly Disney World trip, my wife asked me and our two kids to "draft" our favorite rides... Our 6-year old had first pick and he picked Living With the Land.
The fact that there is a 2hr podcast about the most chill ride on earth has made my Tuesday evening. Also, I REALLY hope you guys head out to WDW for Tiana’s because I want to know your thoughts about the lack of peril.
My favorite ride! ❤ I am so happy Dallin got to defend this legend of a ride! In a week full of overstimulation its the perfect way to get 20min of calm in the ac, without feeling like its a waste. Science and relaxing is a great combo.
Speaking of The Land Pavilion building: it’s home to two of the few proper escalators in WDW. There’s a distinct lack of escalators on the Orlando property, from parks to hotels to other venues there. I think the experience of LWTL begins with walking up that outdoor walkway to the pavilion and riding down that escalator in cool AC, surrounded by nature theming.
If ET pushed theme park tech forward by using text to speech, I don't know how you could possibly argue that this ride doesn't! It's a ride that literally supplied the theme park with food. Just because another ride hasn't done it doesn't make it less innovative! WORLD CLASS
Did it inspire any other rides???? Yes, THE Jurassic Park ride!!!!! 😂 The teaching on a dark ride WITH a look into a working lab is literally the ride in the movie 🍿
Myself (a dad), my wife (a mom), my 3 year old son, my mom, have all fallen asleep on this ride and we love it. I love a little relaxing break to rest my eyes. I mention being a dad because I be tired and sleepy and need this ride for my nap.
I went to Epcot in 1984. I loved it. And then too my son as a toddler and he was so happy at Epcot when Magic Kingdom was just too much. It's a nice relaxing environment.
Walt's dog that Dallin is talking about was actually a chow chow named Sunnee. Lady is a cocker spaniel but the hatbox part in the movie was actually how Walt gave his wife Sunnee.
For a good bit Epcot in Florida was showing Soaring over California for a limited time and I will say it was quite beautiful, I loved the part where you go over the sea during the sunset I just feel like soaring around the world too is greater with scents and really making you feel like you’re there- but both are great in my opinion
Living With The Land is THE Multi-Day Attraction. you have to ride it at least 100 times to get the full experience. theres always another thing to ponder like what a breadfruit tastes like
It was raining for about 6 hours once when we were at Epcot….we managed to spend 2.5 to maybe 3 hours in the land pavilion. Soarin’ x2, lunch, living with the land. My only regret was not spending 4 hours there and going on living with the land more.
I just love it when they bring guests to attractions that aren't as beloved as your Pirates or Haunted Mansions and they defend it so hard to the point of almost delusion. It's so fun.
I gotta say, Dallon hit the nail on the head when he said it is a ride that Walt would’ve made and enjoyed. That may be what Disney is missing.
LMAO he actually came back to defend Living with the Land!
offhand disney’s obsession with living with the land and haunted mansion specifically needs to be studied
I wouldn't expect anything less
Ryan thinks he dressed like a farmer but actually showed up in his best Lil’ Debbie outfit
Even the shirt… lol good catch
💀
I think if they ever tried to remove Living with the Land, Offhand would chain himself to one of the boats.
just like how jenny nicholson said she would chain herself to one of the aliens in the ET ride if they ever tried to take that down
Both of these people would do these things even if they weren't closing down the rides :D :D
The land pavilion is in the shape of a volcano! If you look at the concrete in front, it looks like lava coming out of the volcano. What makes new land? A volcano.
Seeing the aquaponics/hydroponics is the reason I got into permaculture and agriculture. 15 years later I now work in Forestry ❤️
working in the land greenhouses was genuinely one of the best jobs ive ever had! never once did I wake up dreading going to work. I miss it!
Thrilled to hear more reviews from Byron’s mother ❤
Byron's mam definitely needs to be a formal guest one day.
It’s one of my favorite segments 🙌🏻
I have been dying for an episode on livin since day one and they’re bring Dallin back? This is gonna be amazing.
They couldn't do it without him hahaha
I went into this podcast with zero passion for theme parks and now want to actually go and ride the (slower) rides. I appreciate how all the ad reads aren't generic recycled reads and are custom for the attraction they're discussing
Ok first of all, this might be the best episode yet. Secondly, I feel compelled to inform you guys (and Dallin) about Fruit & Spice Park in Homestead, FL. Disney missed the opportunity to call the restaurant the ‘Crop Rotation’.

Dallin's final argument was pure poetry.
Standing by you, Ryan. I went on this attraction on my last trip precisely bc I heard you guys and other theme park heads praising it, and it really is magical. AS A LIVING WITH THE LAND CM YALL ARE AMAZING AND IM SO INCREDIBLY HONORED 😭🌱✨
You're a world class person just for working this amazing ride! ❤️
We go on this LWTL every time we go and my small kids are fascinated by it too. The dark scenes are amazing and the greenhouse is so cool for the adults while the kids LOVE looking for hidden Mickey's. I would definitely want to work on that ride as a CM.

Finally!!!! Living with the Land is the Goat of Epcot
Haha yess! When I saw this in my feed, my first reaction was "they better have Dallin back for this one!"
Same. My exact thought process was “I swear to God if they didn’t bring back Dallin…. Oh thank God they did.”
Okay I feel like since we’re doing living with the land now, we should definitely tackle Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room
Their set is based on it, they have to do it
Living with the Land is always a must do for me whenever I go to Epcot. I love how its just a relaxing ride. No thrills, no flashy gadgets. Just serene. It keeps the spirit of Epcot and for being such an old attraction it holds up to this day.
I FUCKING LOVE OFFHAND DISNEY
This was absurdly suspenseful toward the end and I love it
Been having a bit of a rough time lately and I feel like I discovered this pod at just the right time. Thanks for being so damn entertaining
EPCOT used to feel like an episode of classic Star Trek with its optimistic science-based view of the future.

Love this fan theory. Maybe there's hope for the Hollywood test yet jaja
I gotta go with YES Living with the Land pushes theme park tech forward. Offhand Disney is one of my favorite channels and this is one of my favorite new podcasts. Have Dallin on every week!
Living with the Land is one of my all time favorites-it is my Mom’s all time favorite. But I also enjoy Grand Fiesta Tour and Muppet Vision. 🤣
Grand Fiesta Tour is soooo good!!
I’ve been WAITING for this one!!!!!
you beat me to this comment by seconds lol
i haven’t been to epcot since i was around 5 yrs old so i didn’t remember much. when i went in 2022 i didn’t have any expectations except for being excited to “drink around the world” with my friends. we were all so pleasantly surprised w this ride and the calm ambience, the green house, and the learning aspect. it’s now my favorite ride in disney world and if i ever get to go back i would definitely want to ride this ride multiple times again💓
I’ve only been to Epcot twice and I had no idea that this ride existed! It’s totally something up my alley. Need to make another trip out there
I’m so happy Dallin strong handed you guys into naming LWTL as a world class attraction. It deserves it for his dedication alone 😂
😅 laughed at them talking about being inspired to do aquaponics. I distinctly remember sending ride videos to my brother who WAS actually studying aquaponics and freshwater science.
Love that! In the same vein, I constantly talk about how Spaceship Earth was definitely the first brick in the path leading me to become a linguist.
Honey, come quick! Offhand is back on FYA!!!
Yes!!! The best ride in Epcot has arrived.
This ride was such a fun experience! Rode it my first time last summer, I love the theming of the whole building it felt super nostalgic!
I love this podcast ! Never stop making episodes !
Impatiently waiting for the day Dame Judi Dench and Spaceship Earth get the episode they deserve.
I don't know what you guys were talking about, of the current pavilion buildings, the Land is my favorite building architecturally. Edit- This ride deserves the World Class Pass and I am glad Offhand fought for it!
New test category idea: wait length versus ride length ratio.
I feel like this comes up a lot in the good and bad.
"Does dating you result in big Lemons?" is now going to be one of my tindr questions.

My mom loves Living with the Land. She has to go on it anytime she is at Epcot #momslovelivingwiththeland
Omg this is a dream come true! I love watching watcher content and also offhand Disney! This makes me so happy!
My favorite ride! ❤ I am so happy Dallin got to defend this legend of a ride! In a week full of overstimulation its the perfect way to get 20min of calm in the ac, without feeling like its a waste. Science and relaxing is a great combo.
Ryan passing this for the greater good is just glorious 😂 💯
Yall know how long this has been anticipated! Offhand Disney is my fav.
This ride made me take up gardening and I’ve never looked back. I fucking love LWTL
Keep up the great work guys! Also, curious- will yall ever cover Waterpark rides?
A classic. Will always be one of my top rides.
This is the best episode thus far.
I'm so glad Dallin came back for this episode!!
Im going to epcot in 2 days and now im so excited for this 😆😆
One of the best episodes yet! 2+ hours discussing Living with the Land = yes please!
😂 The teaching on a dark ride WITH a look into a working lab is literally the ride in the movie 🍿
i’ve been waiting for this one.
Crazy how they crossed Living with the Land and Terminator into the update for 2024!
The best is when you go through the land’s greenhouse and it’s raining outside.
Myself (a dad), my wife (a mom), my 3 year old son, my mom, have all fallen asleep on this ride and we love it. I love a little relaxing break to rest my eyes. I mention being a dad because I be tired and sleepy and need this ride for my nap.
Day 12 of asking for Mater’s Junkyard Jamboree
"Day Eigthousand Fivehundred Sixtyfour. No sign of Mater's Junkyard Jamboree but there's still hope."
I went to Epcot in 1984. I loved it. And then too my son as a toddler and he was so happy at Epcot when Magic Kingdom was just too much. It's a nice relaxing environment.
Unironically one of my favorite rides at WDW. Idk if it’s the nostalgia I have for it or what, but I genuinely enjoy every second of LwtL.
Walt's dog that Dallin is talking about was actually a chow chow named Sunnee. Lady is a cocker spaniel but the hatbox part in the movie was actually how Walt gave his wife Sunnee.
Ryan & Byron, I hope one day yall get to go eat at Garden Grill & film it, it would be so delightful and wholesome to watch yall geek out about it 😅
What Byron said about the ride and how it's a seed that grows in you is so true lmao, you really do appreciate it more and more
For a good bit Epcot in Florida was showing Soaring over California for a limited time and I will say it was quite beautiful, I loved the part where you go over the sea during the sunset
I just feel like soaring around the world too is greater with scents and really making you feel like you’re there- but both are great in my opinion
The first scene of gran fiesta tour is also a really believable indoor outdoor set
I definitely laughed more this episode than any other. So glad Dallin was here for this or it would just NOT have worked. Love this ride.
THE BUILD UP FOR THIS MY GOSH!!!!!!
YES!! LWtL, and Dallin is back!!
I clicked on this video so fast.
I've been waiting for this day since the podcast came out. Love Offhand and Living with the Land!
Living with the Land has aged like a fine wine.
I’d love to see ElToroRyan as a guest!!! Have him talk about block zones.
There was a greater than 60 minutes wait for this ride in December for the holiday overlay (and we did not get in line)
Offhand is such an ELITE guest.
I hope they have him back again!
I have been to the "Behind the Seeds" tour! Its honestly fantastic! I had a great time and you get to eat some of the produce.
TWO HOURS OF MY FAVORITES??? So excited for this one
