Thank you. Weathering definitely makes or breaks a model. My father was an Air Gunner on Halifax BIII , so I picked up quite a bit of knowledge from him.
A wonderful replica of an iconic aircraft. The younger generation needs to know and understand the attrition rates for crews such as the ones who served on these as well as other types and be mindful of their sacrifices so that things like that never happen again. You honor those crews with this effort. Thank you.
Thank you. The model is looking old and tired now, to my eyes. Well, I agree that people ought to know some history --though wars just keep going on, regardless.
@@talesfromthebunker6924 Yes, it is unfortunate but one can always hope, right? As for the model, they do tend to get a little decrepit over time but I like to think it gives them character. I have several in progress at the moment. It's been about a year since I picked one up to work on it. I have an Academy 1/72 Tempest V sitting here next to me, and I am getting the urge again. I have been building since I was 8, taking time off here and there over the years. Once you get into it full on, it never really leaves you. I'm sure you would agree. I noticed the Hellcat in progress on your desk. What's the story with that one? Maybe a video coming soon on that one?
My dad worked on very similar ones at Finningley in the last year's of the war . Most of his friends were replaced very many times due to getting killed .
I got the Dambusters version of that kit one Christmas in the 80s. It sat in my parents loft (unbuilt) for about 15 years, during which time I left home. When I finally asked my mum if it was still in the loft, it turned out she had sold it at the boot sale. 🤣😂
Quite the while yet, I can very well relate. Just not so long. I have had many long build kits. A very inaccurate Elco PT Boat by Lindberg in 1/32 scale sat for about 3 years partly built. I altered that kit from R/C simplicity to how it would be really. I need to solder wire to make the gun tub rails so it isn't truly done now. Going on 10 years now..
Very nice job !!! Great "weathering" 👏👏👏👏 I'm lucky enough to have 2 Tamiya 1/48 Lanc' kits in my "stash" , both with "BigEd" PE sets. Hope to live long enough to build them 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I get similar thoughts. I'll probably shuffle off this mortal coil before I finish the stash. TWO Lancs? Ambitious ..... mind you I'm tempted by the new 1/48 kit Lanc, but don't tell anyone.
@@talesfromthebunker6924 I had 1 in my stash for years , then a very good mate sent me 1 for my 50th birthday present 🎁 🤣🤣🤣 I figure it's always handy to have 2, the way I stuff-up 🙄 The New "Hobby Boss" 1/32 looks wicked , but too BIG ( & expensive) for me . Keep up the great work 👍
I think they did modify the kit. I dont recognise your early version decals? I built mine in 1988-9 when the choice was either Admiral Prune or S Sugar, which flew from Bottesford where I used to live as a kid, so obviously I chose that one. I still have the box and cover and think I still have the instructions also. It has that superb interlocking wingspar doesnt it, which enabled me to dismantle and pack away as I moved houses with work a lot from 1989-until very recently. Some of my tiny parts including a couple of wing lights are missing now..
I found that the bomb aimers blister was the early shallow type, this meant that the PO.S would be incorrect. So I decided to spray most of the markings by cutting out my own stencils so it became OLQ.
You dipped your "glass" into "Future" floor polish to, 1) bring out the luster, and, 2) Help keep the plastic clear. I am guessing that a forty year stint on a shelf chandes the properties of the polish. People are still dipping away to this day..
Beautifully done 👍 I understand the so-called 'obsession' to do things right. I can't say I practice it, but I do understand it :) Sub'd I hope to see more of your work, and well done to the videography team :P
The RAF boffins developed it, but actual use of it operationally was held back for some time, for fear the Luftwaffe would copy the idea and ruin RAF radars. The countermeasure electronics battle carried on throughout the strategic bombing campaign, one side gaining advantage for a while until the other developed a response.
Very interesting video. Beautiful work
Thank you.
Wow what realistic model top job loads of detail
Thank you.
At last, a proper-looking Lanc, that is to say, dirty. Very well done.

@@AngelofCruelty There are already clips of progress on the Hellcat , it's going well.

I bought a Heller Lockheed EC121 in 1980, Assembled and in primer, but still awaiting painting and decals.
Absolutely stunning

The kit came out in the UK about 1975, I remember it was about £7.
Sounds about right, '75.
I understand why you have so few subscribers. No idea why YT suggested it, although the model appears to be very well detailed.
Subscribers isn't my goal. I am just enjoying sharing my journey through modelling.
At least I have more than 3!
Sorry couldn't hear very well, but gr8 looking model👍

Sounds as if people are still dipping in Future -- possibly the near equivalent in UK / EU is nevertheless different. Won't use it again.
"Queenie" of 83 Squadron before she became "Sugar" with 467 Squadron RAAF and later upgraded to a MK III.
That's right. I'll have to check, but I think as OL-Q in 83 she was pathfinders.

40 years to build?
All explained in the video.
Are u kidding. 40 years to build a plastic model.
Well. marriage, children, divorce, learning to airbrush ........
