Good point well made by Matt. I’d been wondering why no one seemed to have noticed the irony in Farage expecting an apology.

Both the BBC and Sky seemed to think that the locals were minor players in the drama compared to the holidaymakers - they've lost their homes and livelihoods- but hey lets talk to someone in a sports centre !

@tsr207 - I agree with you. The actual inhabitants have, in some cases, lost everything and all that (most) of the television media is focusing on is the plight of the tourists. Tourists who, in my humble opinion, should have known better. For weeks now, the tv weather forecasters have been talking about this extreme high temperatures in Europe. 🤦‍♀️

Another bullseye Matt - thank you. I also got shades of vintage Monty in there.....
"Today a meteor smacked into Earth and destroyed thousands of square kilometres of 'foreign stuff'",
"i see - and what's that in good old fashioned English miles?",
    "Er, thousands of square miles?",
"And were there any BRITISH casualties?"
"I believe one British woman broke a nail""
"OH MY LORD - THIS IS TERRIBLE! WHAT DOES THE FOREIGN OFFICE HAVE TO SAY?"....
Enter Graham Chapman in army officer uniform - "Stop that. Stop that. It's getting silly". Cue footage of Godzilla rampaging through Tokyo.....

I love it :) But there is one thing which appareantly seems to a bit on our side here: As late as staruday holiday companies were still flying people out to Corfu and Rhodes when their hotels were already either burned down or were surrounded by flames. You would imagine that these companies would take some responsibility as in they were flying people into a disaster area when they should have suspended travels waaay earlier. I am not defending the entitled cries we hear everywhere, but some are genuinely frustrating as they had no chance to rebook, nor to cancel (because they would lose their money) and they were told that its okay to go there as the fires are contained... and when they arrived... well reality was different (like brexit)
corporate greed yet again made things worse.
now, where is my badminton tea...

Very different from a British fire, which tend to be refined and sophisticated, Greek fires have a more rough and unsophisticated aspect to them.
