    I have never been to the UK but British Rail in any scale is exciting. I see Union Pacific powering through Ogden, Utah almost everyday. I am not a model maker myself rather a retired newspaper cartoonist. Thanks WS. 😊

      I think the contrast between British and American operations is fascinating they are so different, I actually find U.S and Canadian railroads really interesting

    I went to this exhibition as a punter and really enjoyed seeing it again in your video. This year I'm exhibiting and I only hope I make your cut!😁👍🚂🌍 Thanks for the vid, subbed!

      Awesome, I think I can go this year (I work shifts so not always easy) what’s the name of your layout?

    I thoroughly enjoyed the video of the N scale setup. I have an N scale train set but have not done anything with them yet. Now I have the inspiration to move forward. Thank you again.

      That’s great to hear the video has inspired you to move forward with you layout, there was some really great layouts at the show to give that spark of creativity

    Thank you for showcasing some REALLY brilliant N-gauge modelling. It just shows the realism and atmosphere you can achieve at that scale.

      They’re some really greats layouts at that show and I’ve noticed since it’s return after covid they are very picky in what layouts they have there’s a lot higher quality in the standard.

    I really enjoyed all the layouts and just coming back into N scale. I am appreciating all the detail that can be achieved in this scale. Thank you for the video and I look forward to more.

      It’s amazing what some of those layouts had detail wise. Good luck getting back into N

    Thanks for the video! Am working in Shanghai at the moment and one of the things I miss.... my model railway!! Thanks for the informative commentary and the time! A perfect way to relax in the evening! (Or any other time of day for that matter!)

      No problem, thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed the video, hopefully didn’t make you miss your own layout too much.

    Love the red and green people on the pedestrian crossing lights, on the massive German layout

    That display at 6:00 is breathtaking. This Michigander and Missus have a delightful Amtrak station 20 miles north of here; however, it’s quite suburban in comparison.

    • @WesternSignalman

      It’s an absolutely great layout I’d say it was my favourite at the show just for the station alone.

    Great film of the event.
    I was helping on the German layout. I also be helping again at there show in Stuttgart in Germany. (November 17th to 20th).
    N Club International. Will have a large layout with up to 19 clubs from all over Europe. A few years ago they had 600meter of frontage. Now that was some layout.

    • @WesternSignalman
      @WesternSignalman  ปีที่แล้ว

      The German layout was one of my favourites even found myself tempted by the ice train gaugemsster had for sale at the show after seeing the layout. 600m that is an impressive size!

      You’d think as it’s called the international n gauge show they’d try and make it easier for people like yourself to attend, I know they run a shuttle bus from leamington spa but I feel they could do more 😆
      Glad you enjoyed the video

    Loved this, I would like to do a model railway layout and thought n gauge might not have enough detail but I was wrong.

    • @WesternSignalman
      @WesternSignalman  ปีที่แล้ว

      N gauge has an amazing amount of detail these days but if you want to try something a bit bigger Hornby have just launched their TT range, it’s actually something I’m working on for my next project.

  • @1977ajax
    @1977ajax ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Very nice.
    Without taking anything away from anyone else's hobby, and though the gauge is ideal for putting a good deal of track into a smaller space, can I ask if the somewhat jerky stop and start I seem to see in N-Gauge locomotives is inherent in the gauge / scale?

    • @WesternSignalman
      @WesternSignalman  ปีที่แล้ว

      I’d say it’s more likely to be the track, modern day n gauge locos are very good quality but with a small area for pick up poorly laid or dirty track can usually give a somewhat erratic performance

      As far as I am aware there are only 3 companies who have produced the a3 minitrix, Graham Farish and Dapol. The Dapol one is probably the best on the market the other two being only available secondhand these days.

    Barton Road has got to be Gloucester. Triangle junction and of course Barton Street which had a huge level crossing and a signal box way up high on stilts so they could see everything. Sadly gone. At one time the town had 2 stations and many lines as both GWR and Midland served the town.

    • @WesternSignalman
      @WesternSignalman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Could of had some influence from Gloucester in its design I certainly see where you coming from. There’s an article in the October railway modeller with some great pictures.

      @@WesternSignalman It's a very good take. To fit a triangle junction on a layout. All the elements of Gloucester are there just in a different order. I look at the housing and instantly think of the run down areas around Gloucester. They have done a cracking job with that.

  • @mikemasters1208
    @mikemasters1208 ปีที่แล้ว

    I always think many modellers run their trains far too quickly. A slower, well controlled locomotive adds so much more realism to a layout

    • @WesternSignalman
      @WesternSignalman  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, the worst I saw was a narrow gauge layout and the loco clearly had an old chassis but it meant it needed full power to move and it darted about the layout quicker than a f1 car

    Das ist ja H0 oder kleiner, d.h. …
    Alle sprechen von Problemen, ruckartiges Anfahren,
    nicht maßstabgetreue Gleise, Wagen und Loks sind nicht so Vorbildgetreu,
    sie fahren, bremsen oder beschleunigen zu schnell, und es gibt unnatürlich viele Gleise.

      I think sometimes the unrealistic movement is down to operator even in large scales you get the occasional steam engine moving off like a Bugatti
