    Is cooking oil used to cook the food included in the nutritional information on packages?

      Yes!

      @@recipal how? We can't control the amount of oil that is in the fried product.

      @@jaizonbonilla4338 there are a few ways to go about this. You could weigh your oil before and after frying to get a better sense of the oil absorption. You could apply a general heuristic by multiplying the product's pre-fried weight by 10% to estimate the amount of oil absorption - different products have different "standards" you can apply, but that's of course not the most accurate approach. Or, you could have the product lab tested.

    Hey how does it work when a recipe calls for 2 tsp. baking powder, but the unit in recipal only has 1/8 tsp measurement

    • @recipal
      @recipal  ปีที่แล้ว

      There are a couple of options here. If the unit is 1/8 tsp and you need 2 tsp then your quantity would be 16 (16 * 1/8 = 2 tsp). For all of our USDA ingredients all standard unit measurements will be automatically available. However, sometimes when users add ingredients they use odd units. In these cases, you always have the option to copy the ingredient and add the additional units you would like.

      How can I get a product that’s already made in stores into my recipe

    • @recipal
      @recipal  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@amyurlacher4385 You can accomplish that by using the create custom ingredient option. All you have to do is copy the information from their nutrition fact panel into the system. From there, you can use it as an ingredient in your own recipes. One thing to note, nutrition fact panels provide rounded values, so to get the most accurate nutritional information you can reach out to the supplier for a spec sheet and use that to create your custom ingredient.

    I’m lost with the amount that you chose for the sugar. Where did u get that number. .66??? How do I come up with the quantity number??? This part completely d discouraged me😒
    For instance one of my ingredients is 1 cup of mayo. What am I supposed to put for quantity?

    • @recipal
      @recipal  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      For one cup of mayo you'd set the unit to "cup" and the quantity to 1.
      In this example, we were using 2/3 of a cup. You can't enter fractions into the system, but you can convert them to decimals. 2 divided by 3 is .66. So you can enter 2/3 cup as 0.66 cup - they're the same. As another example, if you were using 1/2 cup, you'd enter 0.5 cup. 1/2 is 0.5. Make sense?
