A few years ago a cell phone user plowed into the back of my vehicle, totally my car and giving me lifelong pain/injury from the accident. It is estimated that over 3500 deaths a year are caused by distracted driving that would have otherwise been prevented. I question your cavalier attitude, maybe you'll feel differently if something like that ruined your health and put you into a permanantly disabled state where you'd be bedridden or in a wheelchair rather than having the freedom of your van. I think the crucial difference between CB radios and cell phones is the visual component. Living in a very crowded county, I’m not afraid of people who are talking on the radio. The depth of the nanny state in America is scary. All the steps just to get a prescription filled. I am retired in South East Asia where a doctors prescription (not required) is easy to fill anywhere as long as they are open and you can pay for it. No questions asked unless you are trying to buy lots of drugs that get people high. You can only buy a small amount of those. One thing that shocks Americans is how cheap drugs are here (except aspirin that is hard to find and expensive due to the amount of people with dengue fever). The people in these developing countries can't afford the endless layers of unneeded people that are in everything in America and Europe. I was able to buy Iv-rme-tin over the counter. We were not forced to get vaccinated or punished if we didn't. So I took 6mg every 10 days throughout the covid outbreak and stayed healthy never catching the virus. My 74 year old immune system did the job.

Problem with cell phones is that people do more than just talk in them with CB radio that’s what you do. You do not need to look at what you’re holding. You cannot send text messages or read them. You do not look at photos that is the difference
@@poollife777 I've been buying the exact same prescription drugs as sold in American Pharmacies for years in Mexico, at about 25-60% of cost. BTW I pay less than half for dental work there (as do a lot of Americans). Your assertations of the boogieman lurking behind every corner there are just ridiculous. BTW the food is delicious, the margaritas cold and tasty and the people very friendly. Maybe you should visit sometime before professing some sort of expertise about the country.
@@deborahsensenbach7384 WTF are you even talking about? You don't need any rights to walk into a pharmacy and make a purchase, Americans do it allover Mexico everyday. You can also bring back a 3 months supply as long as it's not narcotic. Maybe get the facts before you post like you know something.
The "problems" at the border are an American construct to distract us from real issues. It has nothing to do with life in Mexico or the wonderful, kind, generous and happy people I've met here.
Carolyn, I love your optimism but reality is I have lived near the border my whole life (both TX and CA) and I've had several friends beaten, robbed, kidnapped and such just by driving their RV down the Baja Peninsula. Please don't be fooled, the border problem IS NOT a construct unfortunately. 😢 I also fly to Mexico as a scuba diver/snorkeler. It's not safe like it used to be. Boondockers have the worst time because they stick out like a sore thumb. If you travel in a group, five or more, then it will be safer. The more rural you get the more dangerous it becomes. Parking near beaches at night and other off the beaten path spots are a no-no. The many nice people of Mexico live in populated areas and they aren't the problem. The road rats hang out on the open highway - No such thing as safe truck stops. BTW if you travel to Mexico you need to learn at least a little Spanish. When in Rome... @bettygarcia5963
You don’t live near the border, Carolyn. We are having a severe fentanyl and human and child trafficking problem. The border is dangerous. Too bad you feel it is necessary to admonish your commenters.
I love Mexico. For 5 years we travelled from Saskatchewan Canada for 6 months to Mexico in our RV. once in Mexico we stayed at many Pemex gas stations. They cater to semis. The compound they have has armed guards and is gated. Very cheap. They have showers, restaurants, RV washes and interior cleaning. The people are awesome and helpful. They speak English too. Stay on the toll roads because they are safer. I had no fear. The people are open and friendly. I can't wait to get back. Mi seganda casa.❤
Carolyn I can so relate to the ‘issues’ you experience. It’s customer service. Doesn’t exist anymore. Always an excuse, broken, can’t, won’t, out of, etc, etc. Your patience is amazing.
The next time you ever happen to get stuck in sand, let air out of the rear tires. That will allow the tire to balloon out and ride on top of the sand ,not dig deeper into it. There are air pumps at the exit points from the beach in the Outer banks,North Carolina for this purpose. Air back up to drive on pavement.

The BIG deal is that thousands die each year from people using their devices while driving including texting. Your dismissive comment was extremely ignorant and quite frankly rude. You may not care but thousands of children, teens, parents and grandparents have been killed by those you think it’s no big deal. It’s a BIG deal please educate yourself before speaking something you know nothing about. You’ve obviously never lost a child so tragically.
Hi carolyn i was going to recomend a womrns swimming cap so you didnt pull your hair out. Between propane, medicine, laundry, running on the canal bank, yikes hope it smoothes out for you all ,have a blast!
Carolyn, I am a Baby Boomer and had even fewer restrictions than you. I was in high school when that song “Convoy’ came out. LOL I don’t think you can compare CB radio and cell phone use. CB radios are used by such a small percentage of the population, (pro truckers) and almost never by teens. Yet, every driver in the country has a cell phone. And there are a lot more drivers out there nowadays. I’m an English teacher and the students and I looked up all the statistics in response to a writing prompt about changing the driving age for safety reasons. A leading cause of death for teens and young adults, is car accidents from distracted driving or being “impaired.” There are so many choices of phone holders to attach to the dashboard, windshield, sun visor, etc. It isn’t that inconvenient. Some of these laws were put in place after years of lobbying by MADD ( mothers against drunk driving.) It’s a small price to pay for saving lives.
I live in Tucson Arizona. I don’t know what the attraction is to go to Mexico. Specially, now with everything going on over there I don’t know what you’re thinking. That’s all I could say I wouldn’t touch it.

Glad you are heading into Mexico! We crossed the border into central Mexico early in 2022 and have been traveling/living/working all over the country for over 15 months. The idea has been to check out different locations to see where ultimately we want to put down some temp. roots, rent a casa and apply for residency. We'd store the RV and just use it for winter trips to the beach. Currently we are in Oaxaca for a year to kick off phase 2 of our journey! Good luck in Baja!
The problem with cellphones and driving, Carolyn, is when people decide to drive and input something into their phone. Many people have died and/or been injured in accidents that occur from this behavior.
I get those 6 month visa every year or so. It is no worth doing it online over the internet. Slow down it is a boarder crossing and give your self plenty of time. Else Drama drama drama.

If you have a prescription, just go to one of the Mexican vets, and they will have it filled for you. No worry. I loved Mexico, and if Trump gets back into the White House, I will go back. Remember, in Mexico, they employ people to pump your gas, and you're paying for a litre, it's more gas than US gal. Have fun and stay with your caravan. You need each other.😊❤❤

It only takes one incident when you are an American you have no rights down there they can do whatever they want to you, you could not pay me enough money to go down there! @@OldSchoolPrepper
I have been trying to get to Baja. Thanks for the video and insight.
Problem with cell phones is that people do more than just talk in them with CB radio that’s what you do. You do not need to look at what you’re holding. You cannot send text messages or read them. You do not look at photos that is the difference
So glad to see you traveling w/ others. I think it's safer .
Get your prescriptions in Mexico. It's much much cheaper and no headaches, tell them what you need, leave with what you need.
Lol that's funny ... you have no rights in Mexico
Takes alot of guts to go to Mexico. Especially with the problems at the border. Be safe out there Carolyn.
I also fly to Mexico as a scuba diver/snorkeler.
Bullshit. Bullshit. Bullshit.
You don’t live near the border, Carolyn. We are having a severe fentanyl and human and child trafficking problem. The border is dangerous. Too bad you feel it is necessary to admonish your commenters.
@@CarolynsRVLife ok, then go to Mexico City, you might make it out of there, maybe not
You: "Sadie do you want to go to mexico?" Sadie: "Is she serious?..."
You can print things at UPS or a library
You are in my hometown of El Centro.. love this. In Mexicali it be rather easy to acquire most mascota pet medicine. Safe travels
Thanks for the tip about UPS stores and Amazon, etc.
❤ plain greek yogurt works great for yeast infections
I love Mexico. For 5 years we travelled from Saskatchewan Canada for 6 months to Mexico in our RV. once in Mexico we stayed at many Pemex gas stations. They cater to semis. The compound they have has armed guards and is gated. Very cheap. They have showers, restaurants, RV washes and interior cleaning. The people are awesome and helpful. They speak English too. Stay on the toll roads because they are safer. I had no fear. The people are open and friendly. I can't wait to get back. Mi seganda casa.❤
We usually travel to Mazatlan. They have RV sites. We tow a car and drive around the city. easy peasy.
New subscriber…..really enjoying your videos. Thanks for all of your hard work on them.
why would you go to Mexico lot of turf wars going on with the drug dealers
Girl!!! GEN -Xer here. Lol. I laughed when you said that. 😂😂 I look forward to joining the nomad group.
Wow I am sorry and envious at the same time. Ugh.
Carolyn - I'm so glad you're doing this; can't wait to follow you. I missed you in Quartzsite because I had to leave early. Be safe!
I used to live past Rosarito near Popotla. It was a beautiful life on the beach.
Yes fun times back in the late 80s not so fun anymore, San Felipe was also the place Americans were building houses on the beach 😢
I live in Rosarito now & love it!
What a nail-biter of a rescue. Sadie certainly enjoyed meeting the Mexican police who tried to help you.
Sadie loves everyone. Many Americans could learn a lot from Sadie!
I admire your lifestyle
but I personally couldn't handle all the BS
@@CarolynsRVLife Damn, you really do take every opportunity to bash this country and the people in it...you wear both the liberal, and bitter hat very well!

Hi folks. I live in Baja. You can have propane bottles filled in Baja. The propane I’m told come from the U.S.A.
That's why I love Walgreens. They are everywhere and when I travel I can transfer the RX.
Carolyn, cell phones have a visual component that other forms of verbal communication don’t have.
Thanks!
Thank you for the tip @Teresanorman3607. I appreciate you!
Ive lived in Baja for 33 years, just dont let more than 2 officials in your motor home at a time and keep a close watch on them, other than that you should be fine.
You seem so much happier being with some people. I was really worried when you were back several videos ago....I think up in NY or somewhere. I think adventures are better shared. Glad you are getting to do this with some other folks. And appreciate you taking us along with you.
I thought the same, Carolyn seemed much happier with fellow travelers!
👍🙏💝Glad it all worked out.
Safe travels.
Thank goodness, you were with someone.
Rvs, we're ment to be used for special occasions. Not for day to day use. When the family plans for a vacation. They don't, vacation 365 days, really. RV, is a temporally thing. To beat boredom. Some people call it, taking a break.so you don't take a break for 365 days.so don't get wiped out. Find a point of return. You can't be happy 365 days a year. You are going to have at lease one bad day, of unexpected problems. Never let go of home base. Remember your roots.
I don't think I will ever cross the border...Herd too many horror stories...gonna keep watching your videos 💛
Don't live life out of fear. You will miss out on so many beautiful experiences! I have crossed the Mexican border hundreds of times. Driven extensively through Mexico and have never had problem
Believe those stories!
Most stories aren’t true for Baja but we love that you think so. Been here eight years and it’s all good. Best kept secret is living in Baja
@@TheDog_Chef, You don't have to go to Mexico anymore, half of them are living here now. Our government is trying to make our corrupt government equal with Mexico's corrupt government but we just don't have enough Mexicans yet to make that a reality. Never fear though, our government is importing more forced diversity like it or not. It seems a long way to go just to eat Mexican food, I can cook better than most Mexicans anyways.
Not a very pretty place or safe.
You and I are in the same areas. I've been in and out of the same crossing. No problems even though I get stopped everytime both ways for inspection. And I haven't had a passport in years.
I felt so bad for you Carolyn. First day too. I was so worried that your rig was going to get hurt in the process. Glad to hear on the live that so far so good. I'm glad you had your friends with you. Helps a lot!!
This has been the wettest winter ever - we have been in a drought but….cool & wet is strange - my wussie Pekingese tip toes to go pottie.🥴

Hello fellow Okie … (from OKC)
Hey OKIE.
Sometimes Motels have small laundrymats in them. Their parking for RV should be good during day.
Ooooh I'm from the UK and I am looking forward to this ! If you see an extra subscriber after you have played it you know who it is 😊 let's go MEXICO !
I have cross the border in to Mexico many times on several boards, no problems. Can not understand your problem.
Rain means static electricity or lightning. Equals possible explosion. So you just tell the customer, no filling in the rain.
As a healthcare provider, you can walk into any pharmacy in Mexico and buy medication. They are made by the same mfg. The cost is unreal. If you pay $200 in the US, then your cost will be 8 to 12 $'s there. You can even buy chemotherapy over the counter. Unreal the difference.
Are you arguing against or for distractions while driving. Sounds like you’re for it.
Hi Carolyn 🙋♀️ Enjoy and be safe ❤️😊

And this is why we don't boondock in our classC. We stayed in parks almost the whole time.
It is very safe here. Just what do you think is going on here. We are in our 70’s and have been coming for years.
@@christinaeaton8733 Safe in Mexico? You must be kidding. I'm glad you have not had a bad experience. If you doubt what I am saying, just read the newspapers.
@@suzieq1704 I am here presently therefore do not have to read the newspapers and have been coming for 5 months every winter and never had a problem. I feel as safe here as I do at home. We travel everywhere by public transportation and have had nothing but good experiences with the Mexican people.
THAT was nail-biting, THRILLING and EXCITING to watch! THANK YOU for sharing your life with us! Good on ya’ Carolyn! Greetings from the U.k. 🇬🇧
Not complaining. I enjoyed this video. I'd like to offer one suggestion respectfully: less video of the driver and more of the road ahead. The audience is tuned in mainly to see what it looks like in Baja or wherever. I do enjoy you videoing store visits etc.
Looking forward to many more of your videos! Have fun and be safe. 🇲🇽🇲🇽🇲🇽
Mexico doesnt care. Coming BACK, to the U.S., is really analiotic. The U.S. held me up once, because I didnt have all the papers for my kids. My ex is Mexican, and my younger is pretty dark, so the guys in the U.S. thought I was stealing a kid from Mexico. One guy finally asked, Who is this lady?? My baby wrapped his arms around me and announced, MY MAMA!!
No one in their right mind would be going to Mexico right now with all that is going on !
Up s store should be able to print it out, Possibly walmart or the library would
I pray for you. There is no way I would hike into Mexico in RV's.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Back in 1994 I went to San Felipe for spring break. We camped in my truck at the sand dunes. Then on the return drive home I negotiated a traffic ticket at 4 am just b4 we crossed back into the US. Have fun!!!
Desert ground is so dry it's hard as concrete, when it does rain it floods as the ground cant absorb it well.
The problem with cellphones and driving, Carolyn, is when people decide to drive and input something into their phone. Many people have died and/or been injured in accidents that occur from this behavior.
Your puppy is absolutely adorable!!!
Too many cartels etc. I wouldnt feel safe.
But a cheap wireless printer. They don't take up much space. I think you can get one in the $40 - $50 range. Save you lots of time and annoyance
I get those 6 month visa every year or so. It is no worth doing it online over the internet. Slow down it is a boarder crossing and give your self plenty of time. Else Drama drama drama.
Yes you guys are a bunch of characyes I am enjoying your video thank you
❤ I lived in Mexico for over 5 years, and we had dogs with us. The vets are wonderful there, and most of them speak English and Spanish.
You need each other.😊❤❤
Wait, what? A liter is just a smidge larger than a quart and there are 4 quarts in a gallon.
FYI, a litre is less than one-third of a gallon. You can Google several metric conversion tools to get an accurate idea of the costs.
plenty of room for you to carry two 8ft.2x10 to use and get you out of being stuck or jack up the back fill hole then use branches sticks anything for traction.
It's not an adventure until it is ❤
