    Very cool to see the "turn energy into money" card work !

    If you were Thorgate I bet he could have conceded 3 turns earlier. Missed opportunity for sure!

    Not being interested in phobos seems interesting to me. It's a distraction so might not be great, but we're tharsis so we get the 3 money rebate and it turns on (or at least is safe against) amc. Distraction and idk if I'd be looking for major even if you'd miss both card draw for two gens
    You can see the tiles per player in the player panel besides the game log, the last icon in the bottom row

      @@kunizial so a ti prod is worth 10mc early. Phobos is 25mc after the rebate. That means I am paying 15mc for 3 victory points. That is not what you want to do with the early money. That's why I usually don't buy the card.

    maybe he could've gambled if u had a temp bump and then concede, but yeah, things were dire for him after your power networks

  • @toomanybagels
    @toomanybagels 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I’m very surprised you didn’t go Thorgate here, it’s a 6 discount with cards in hand, equal prod, more starting MC, and you want to play more power tags anyway with infrastructure

    • @ThreadPacifistTM
      @ThreadPacifistTM  2 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@toomanybagels it just comes down to expected value. Tharsis is a more consistent corp in my experience and there's not enough here to convince me to take a chance with thorgate. It might be a different story on Hellas.

      @@ThreadPacifistTM do you think you're actually going cities here? the only major benefit is having access to the good pocket right away, but you don't really want to path towards builder or mayor that hard this hand and there's way more power cards you'd be willing to play than cities

    I'm in the complete opposite camp. While I watch some of these 1v1 games, I find actually playing TM 1v1 to be pretty unfun. At least with 3, if one player is leading, the other 2 can gang up on them and focus on hate drafting and attacking that player more. But in 1v1, if you have a good start, it's much easier to just run away with the game very one sidedly. So, I pretty much never play 1v1.

      @@sykes1024 To each their own. The strongest engines aren't getting stopped by anyone. My evidence for this is that it is possible to end the game gen 1 with the perfect setup.
      I have made the argument before, but it requires everyone to be the same skill level for your scenario to work. Let's say you have a 600 elo, 600 elo, and 200 elo. One of the 600 elo players just played AI central. From your perspective, the 200 elo player should now transition to Terraforming, but instead he plays insulation. Now it's still a 1v1 game in that you have to end the game on your own, but now you have a third individual fighting over milestones, awards, blowing up your plants, etc. I don't like that level of skill disparity in 3P format.

      @@ThreadPacifistTM Well, yeah, they can't always be stopped.
      But to your second point about imbalanced elos, I guess for me online there just isn't an alternative. I prefer 3p. And yeah, the vast majority of my games online don't usually have a good balance of elos. Most games I'm in have maybe 1 person above 250 besides myself (I'm hovering a little above 500). But I can't really control that. I don't have premium on BGA so I can't gatekeep a table myself, I'm left to just join up on whatever is available. And I can't even see what their elo is until the table is filled and it's asking to accept. And if I just never accepted unless the elos were all close, I'd just never get in a game on BGA.
      Luckily my in person group is close enough in skill to make a game of it, so we only ever play 3p or 4p. Very rare that I ever entertain a 2p game. Pretty much only if some one cancels after I've already shown up.

    That's funny I just had a similar game a few days ago, but I actually picked Thorgate! I got power infrastructure into fusion power into quantum very early, then later a power grid for 8 energy prod... It was not close AT ALL because I had Earth cat, AI and Antigrav on top of that. Game ID is 596060838 if anyone's curious
