Shakeszoola here: Thanks for reviewing the game! I learn a lot watching your breakdowns, it's really nice to see your POV. Some notes from me: First, I haven't played many prelude games, the way you explained your decision processing of why you choose what you would, was great to see. Reasoning I didn't take the metals was mostly due to the abundance of steel (especially getting strip mine), so I didn't see the point. Makes sense when going with Inventrix, although I usually don't play well with Inventrix. Lava Flows would have been a great card to take, especially since I didn't have anything to play 1st gen. Second, I mulled around a bunch of playing protected valley before the standard greenery (I also should have taking it first in the draft!). In the end, I found a way with the standard greenery to get gardener, so that was the play I did. In retrospect, I probably had time for another gen to get gardener. I feared he had another city and could sweep the milestones with builder/planner/mayor, but unlikely he had enough money for that Third, I took Soletta, because I saw a need to rush the game and I had titanium to spend. Doing Underground Dets twice (even 3 times) would've been better. Another card I shouldn't have taken was Lava Tube Settlements, and I should have definitely not have standard an ocean. I got bailed out by GIA in this game and by him playing nuc zone. And Finally, This one is a doozy. WHY DID I FUND THERMALIST! Such a blunder. I'll try to justify it, I really didn't think he would go for any heat especially since he wanted to drag the game out. But there was too much heat to bump and too much card draw form my opponent. It led to a bunch of my other mistakes like taking fusion power for ex. All in all, a very fun game, but a lot to learn. LONG LIVE UNDERGROUND DETS!
I can consider that. I do approach these games with the mindset of you've watched my card tier list video where I discussed all the cards' general power level and ideas. Can try a couple where I go into more detail.
happy-smile here: a few reasonings from me ;) 1. I took commercial over birds because the other way around it sounded like win-win for him. Him having commercial to mooch on my cities and me having birds to feed his predator (didn’t know he didn’t buy it). At the end I played it for 2 points, not one (it was his last greenery spot next to a city). 2. Planner - I didn’t feel poor to fund it. Yeah, he had tons of money, but only because he didn’t use them for anything yet. So I knew once he finally do it, then we are at the same level as we had the same income 3. Same with search for life. I don’t remember this part much, but looks like I didn’t feel a need to keep those money for something else 4. Fighting thermalist was funny. Yeah, I wasted a lot of money in that, but note it was the only award I had a chance to win, so at that point it was worth to do it. Considering difference was 10 points, it could bring the victory - if he didn’t have underground dets :D 5. Yeah, nuc zone was brain fart :/ I guess I got tempted by a card 6. In last gen, I first wanted to play my point cards, but I concluded I don’t have enough to catch up. So instead I decided to try luck and play some card draws (that’s why pets) and hope that I might get something for point dump. Well, didn’t work out, but it would be second place even if I played “seriously”, so it didn’t matter :) All in all, we both made some mistakes, but it was funny game. Underground dets to get both milestone and award, we will not see that for a long time :D and it took Shakeszoola to final of a tournament! :)
For #6, yeah you just have to play to your outs sometimes, so I get that. For #4 to clarify, I liked the carbonate and GHG lines, it was the power grid I was a bit skeptical of. Thank for sharing your thoughts
At the risk of sounding stupid, why is Tundra Farming bad? I get why you wouldn't pick it here because the requirements are miles off, but in general the VP + plant tag are decent? In this case you also have a Viral Enhancers so if this would around late it would be an easy pickup to me
Only 1 plant production for 16 and playable quite late. Points are nice, but 16 for 2 points is quite a lot. And since it is playable late it will not give you much back in both terms of money and potential forests
@@verajandova5677 that I understand and is also my reasoning. But he made it sound like it's a unanimously bad pick, when in fact late game it can have its purpose. It's not Trees, that's for sure.
@@wouterluijten9033 My experience with the card has been that you never play it because there's always something better to do. I call it the Methane from Titan effect. The card seems decent, but it's also kinda expensive and every gen you find another reason why it isn't playable. Like verajandova said, It's 19MC (don't forget that extra 3MC cost) for 2VP 1 plant prod, 1 plant, and 2-4 MC. In terms of things you want to be doing in the final gens, it's just too weak.
happy-smile here: yeah, I never keep it and rarely play it, here I just wanted to cut it from him as he had viral enhancers so could be eventually not so bad for him

Love these reviews of BgA games! Thanks!
If I had any critique it would just talk through the cards played a little more. But it’s lovely work.

Thanks, Thread. I'm always waiting for new content 😊!

battle of mistakes !
Build Underground Dets and not use it is a deadly sin!
Love the reviews! I would be super intersted to see what you have to say about one of my games, how can we submit one?
Just shoot me a message on BGA with the link to the table.

Yes, exactly, even if I draw it somewhere, I never get to play it as it is too expensive and there is always something better to play.
TUNDRA FARMING IS A BAD CARD 🗣️🗣️🗣️
