I always saw white woman’s Instagram as a sort of parody of that kind of joke. When she talks about her mom it’s a statement about how despite how cringe you might find their online presence, behind each seemingly copy paste profile there’s a human being that has a life and that the internet can make us forget that and just laugh at them. If Inside is about human connection than simply laughing at the song is missing the point in my opinion. I’m not saying Bo doesn’t criticize that type of person but if that’s all he’s saying I don’t see how it feeds into the human side of the special.
I saw someone point out the way the aspect ratio matches Instagram, but at the part about her mom it expands for a bit before returning to the more vapid content. I thought it was a neat little touch.
so much of his work is about the mediums and so I think its both, the message about her mom as the aspect ratio expands "beyond the medium" is like you say a real person with a real life, emotions, impact. and yet immedietly after the aspect ratio and medium reveals itself. the message is deep and true but its packaged an presented in the same way as everything else copy and pasted cheapening the message and the medium, reducing it like all things to "content."

The way that bo Burnham feels like he pulled the thoughts from the darkest crevices of young millennial minds and made poetry about it, Mia does the exact same thing with my brain and I feel strangely attached and also like I have to send this video to my therapist
I love watching videos of people whose trauma and conditioning makes them talk like the way that I think and I always hope that it's just creators making what they want and not creators making content designed to form parasocial relationships so they can make a living.

Anyway a great video and analysis, what i observe most reaction just using inside to jack up their subs without doing any extra work, just throwing random garbage they think onspot. Most of them haven't seen the full special, just reacting to particular snippet suggested by the bo lovers
I just found your stuff a couple days ago and I've been going through a few of your videos not only do you have a lot of really cool stuff to say but you're pacing is absolutely insane like you get so much out so quickly and I think the speed of it makes it that much more humorous while so sucking you into what's being said. ive watched like 4 videos from you and each one is so personal and in your face that i can't help but admire your raw passion for filmmaking. you somehow mix analytical style content with the most real and interesting version of yourself that its hard to believe that this channel doesnt get more traction. your talent for filmmaking and storytelling are great and you never cease to find interesting things to talk about. incredible to think youre around my age. hope the algorithm treats this channel properly. it more than deserves it.
