just the stock charger that charges the remote, then i have that 4 way hub that u can plug the single charger in and it charges the batteries from most charge to least... came with the flymore combo
@@PeterPiccolo Nice! Essentially the same thing i've got going on. Yea, try to get the batteries to wear evenly and label or mark them somehow, to ensure they all get use more or less equally. It's enough to just check the number of charges in the DJI Go 4 App and favoring the ones that get less use.
I use the HUB or the sunnylife 5 in 1 Mavic 2 charger which had overload protection over current over heat and allows 4 batteries and 2 usb devices to be charged concurrently
Nice. One of the things that scares me a bit about those aftermarket chargers is I read a blog where an electronics engineer took it apart and was shocked at how low end the parts used were. He resoldered a bunch of stuff with better components. Just one of those things..
Thanks for the helpful information! Can't you just fly the drone till the right amount of discharge and then store the battery instead of using the usb bank option?
hey Kirk, thanks for dropping by and taking the time to write a comment. You can most certainly fly the drone until that sweet-spot. Sometimes for me that wasn't practical so i wanted to get the voltage out of the batteries in another way. Hope that helps!
This was super helpful. I live in Canada, so in February when we had unusually warm weather, I took my new Mavic 2 out for a spin. That was just about a month ago. I have four batteries, and thought it best to give them a full charge so that they'd be ready for my next flight. Then it got cold as shit for the next month. Today it was really nice so I drove out to the farm and got all set up for a day of flying. I was super annoyed to find out the batteries were down to 56%. All of them. I thought it was odd that they'd all be down to the exact same level so I googled and found this video. Thank you VERY much. I thought my batteries were crap or something. Happy to know it's an integrated function to discharge after 10 days. Thank you also for the excellent charging, discharging information. SUPER appreciated!

Good info, my question is if I really know that I'm not going to fly for a while can I just fly my drone until the battery reaches 60% voltage on the screen? Thanks..
Hey Louis, awesome you took the time to watch and comment! Much appreciated! Great question. Yes you can do just that. Thank you for this.... just investedinto the Mavic Pro 2 & charged three batteries... Its raining here in NYC so I'm waiting for a bit clearer weather before taking it up... Charging was done with the single post that came with the drone... Hi there, thanks for the informative video. • Quick question regarding Self Discharge: Are you sure that pushing the Power button once (ie: Not powering up the pack) restarts the timer for self discharge. I only ask because I vaguely remember someelse saying that didnt stop the timer? They also said that nothing stops that timer besides draining the pack down to

So what’s the exact method of cycling your batteries? How to you discharge 100%? And what exactly do u do drain u said completely and just charge fully or discharge again? Thanks
hey Atort, I fly them or manually discharge them to anywhere from 20-30%, then either charge to storage voltage or fully charge if im using them again within a day or so.

Hi there can you jumpstart a battery. Bought mine from DJI for my 2 zoom, used twice It sat for few months without a charge due to heartache and stroke I had. Went to charge it and no go. No litghts nothing will not even power up drone. No lights to touch dead. Now my question is can you jump start it with a charged battery. When I get a dead dewalt battery that won’t charge I grab one hook up +to+and neg to neg. Sparks for second and I can put it on the charger and it will begin charging. It’s on you tube. But never saw anything for the DJI batteries. Any thoughts? Thanks
hey Mitchell, thanks for dropping by. Take a peek at the DJI manual for the battery (should be able to find that easily online). The batteries go into a sleep mode after some time. It may not be "dead". The chargers essentially just provide a constant voltage and the smart circuitry handles the rest. Maybe the power brick is defective? If it charges other batteries fine thats not it... good luck
Hi Franck, thanks for stopping by and for the great question. For the Remote Control of the Mavic 2 (normal Remote not Smart Controller), I recommend keeping it also around that 60% charge level if you are going to store it, or not use it for more than a month or two. You can help it along to discharge faster, if it's over the 60% by plugging in something to the full-size USB port at the bottom of the remote and turning it on. I just tried a large USB-powerbank, and it wanted to charge the remote i believe so that wasn't that helpful, but plugging in another USB device caused the power to flow from the RC to the device and it helped it drain a bit quicker. The only problem is that since the drone isn't connected, the remote will start beeping after a few minutes of it being on, so you are stuck moving the stick every once in a while to avoid it to beep or turn off... Hope that helps! What drone are you flying mate?
Hey RiK, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Much appreciated! Setting the time to as short as possible is what i do, when it's available. Always toss the batteries onto the charger the night or day of flight.
Does the cooling fan of the Mavic 2 pro goes up and down when it is IDLE ? I got mine moments ago and it feels like drone is processing something while it is IDLE, should I return it to DJi ?
Hey Ahmed, thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment! Awesome! It is normal for the fan to kick on. It keeps it from overheating. No worries there!
Great information and I learned something new! I'm curious. If a Mavic 2 battery starts to puff a little bit, does it mean that it is already toasted as dead? Thanks in advance.
thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Much appreciated! I would be very careful. I have had another lipo which got a little larger, not sure if it went down or i just got used to it. Normally they won't go down again.
Just sent in a Mavic 2 Battery that had not status leds when depressed. Putting it on the Dji Smart Charger it appeared to try for about 2 minutes and then the led on the charger turned red. Luckily, the battery is under warranty. Good info here on the video. Thanks !!
Question: When using the usb adapter to charge, say an iphone , so as to discharge the Mavic Pro 2 battery, how do you know when to stop using this as a means to discharge?
Hey Bob thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Much appreciated! The magical 60% is around 2 solid lights and the third blinking. From a discharge perspective i would go a ways from 2 solid and 1 blinking but try to stop before 2 solid. hope that helps!
I use third party slow charger it works fine before i use dji charger but it got batt bloated. I dont charge it when batt are hot i let aircon blow them a little cooler. Inspect always b4 and after flight. F found inconsistent in readings or a minor change in body form i put a mark on them.
@@Quadcopterguide DJI may have a good AC but I doubt there batteries are some of the major causes of crashing? Aside from the apps and pilot error. Bec I notice of my 25 batteries most of them are slightly bloated and others are not. I noticing that the one which are affected are typically got error or sudden intermittent lost of connections that trigger RTH? but when I use the good ones nothing happen and solid connections. weird? BTW I place clamp to my drones batt for protections from falling to safety below. 👩👦👦
@@Quadcopterguide pgytech camera mount gopro holder. If theres too much heat involve it will bloat like in sports mode accelarate or instant braking, Fast charging on hot environment, storing a 100 percnt fully charge after auto discharge. You can read others in the forums about why lipo bloating?
@@julietasun4970 ah ok now i understood what you are saying. Yes, there are many things you can do to screw up a lipo.. luckily DJI tries to make the battery smart enough.
After a flight, I wait the batt cool down, and then charge it. When the 3rd light begins to blink, I wait more 5 minutes, then stop the charging. The battery is then with 60% charge level. It would nice if the charger had a storage mode, like the many other airmodel charger have.
Hi Emilio! thanks for taking the time to comment. Definitely a good idea to let the battery fully cool before charging it back up. There's no huge rush to charge it back up to storage level, so it can be done the next day if needed. When the 3rd LED is lit, it means the battery is between 50-75% charge. So it sounds about right 5-15ish minutes after the first blink it should be around 60% charge. It would be cool if DJI offered a more advanced charger themselves. Which drone are you flying Emilio?
Rcgeeks sell a Mavic 2 charger with a storage mode switch for about $50, it has 4 channels (the white variant, not the blue). It takes the guess work out of short charging it. My setup is the 5A rcgeeks charger which doesn't have storage mode but it's attached to a wifi switch/timer so I find a 15min charge gets it within storage levels.
Hey Emilio, I just tested this the other night, and you are spot on. 2 Solid and one flashing starts 60%. I caught it at 62%. I assumed 3 solid was good but then i ended up with over 75% which of course is too high. Thanks again for the tip!
@@Timberjagi thanks for watching & taking the time to comment! The Mavic 2 Batteries do have a storage mode yes. But if they are depleted more than 60% the battery, of course, can't charge itself to that ideal storage level. What drone are you flying?
Hi Mavoc thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It is much appreciated! There isn't a preset limit on the DJI Intelligent Batteries as far as I know. As long as they are taken care of and stored well, they should last a long time. I would pay attention to the battery during flights and if you see one cell behaving differently than others, or you can start to tell the drone doesn't fly the same anymore, to see if it could be the battery. Does your Mavic 2 still behave and fly the way it did when you first got it?
@@Quadcopterguide Thanks for your reply. i had a mavic pro 1 for 3 years. without paying particular attention to the batteries, even after 3 years, they worked their way well. but i remember asking a dji drones expert, and he was clear. Batteries want immediate changes after 100 cycles, or after 100 flights at most. Just like yesterday I bought the mavic 2 pro with smart controller and I hope the batteries will hold just like my old drone!
Hey Jasonm thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment! Awesome! That's one of the reasons I decided to make this video. DJI has done a great job of getting this technology into the hands of many people. The DJI batteries on the inside are LiPo cells just like any other hobby LiPo battery out there. Sure there is a chip in there that theoretically will reduce risk further, but things can still happen. I will be publishing another video in the future of a cool way to charge batteries directly to storage voltage, amongst other cool new tidbits. Quadcopterguide awesome. I will check those out. Am a new hobbyist about to take part 107 exam. Flying M2Zoom. Ironically I just got a Yx (?) 4 battery charging station that with charge, discharge and storage modes that will also balance the LiPo cells at the end of the storage/charge cycles before turning off the batteries. Had I not watched your video I would’ve been storing batteries full for storage 😳
Hey Jason. Congrats on the Mavic 2 and wanting to take the part 107 exam. I was looking into those charger/dischargers, but after reading how cheap the internals are and how hot the charger and leads become while using I decided I didn't want to risk it. Be sure to only charge and discharge on a concrete slab like a patio or a garage if need be, and don't let it do that unattended. I'm working on a new video in regards to charging/discharging, stay tuned!
Quadcopterguide appreciate the info. Incidentally this is my first drone, I picked up 3 batteries (for a total of 4), but had been charging in our home office. After reading your advise, I’ll only charge in the garage on the floor from now on as a precaution. I have found that charger to work well for charging, discharging and storage charging the DJI M2 batteries. Look forward to your videos. Also - passed my Part 107 last Fri 😃
how long do mavic 2 pro batteries usually last? Mine are swelling at 2 years. Is that normal, I have not been doing your recommendations on care though. I will start
Hi Herman, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It is much appreciated! Thats a good question, i think it's a matter of following these guidelines and how much the batteries are used. I got mine at launch and my batteries knock on wood are not swelling. This could be attributed to my storage regiment or perhaps you fly more often than I do. Just be super careful since the swelling can pop out the battery in flight and you risk loosing your whole quad in the process.
Hi there a good morning. I have a question regarding the voltage fully charged 4.2 to 4.24 And typically storage voltage should always be around 3.8 to 3.8 for that is for all of the lithium polymer batteries that I use on my helicopters and my RC airplanes. I’m assuming the quality of the cells are the same in the drone batteries is there some truth to keeping the voltage at 3.82 on the drone batteries as well because that is what I’m used to I’m real picky with keeping my batteries in tiptop shape and keeping them in proper storage mode as well as cycling them once a month if I don’t fly or use them. What are your thoughts on the storage voltage of 3.8 for these particular batteries considering that they are lithium polymer just like the ones IUse for my aircraft as well
Hey RC car guy. Thanks for taking the time to comment and watch, it is much appreciated! Great question. DJI batteries for the mavic 2 Pro are actually LiHV (high voltage) cells. There is debate online whether the best storage voltage is 3.7-3.8v per cell as regular lipos or 3.9v per cell as some chargers have set internally. I don’t think you can go wrong with either on the mavic 2 platform specifically. Hope that helps.
i have 3 batteries (mavic 2) and i wonder is there any product on the market out there that you might know of that would allow, parallel charging, auto cycling of the batteries, and bring them to storage mode?
Hey Radu, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Much appreciated! Thats a great question, I have been on the hunt for something like that as well. There is this product available on amazon: geni.us/oBF22 BUT please continue reading... Ive read reviews that the product gets VERY hot when charging in parallel and one guy even openend it up and claimed the components are pretty cheapo, so I don't think i would recommend actually charging multiple all the time with this. It does however have a storage option. I would honestly just get this and only use it to do one at a time to storage. The stock DJI charger works fine for me and i don't have to worry about some cheapo device. Hope that helps!

Quadcopterguide thank you, I will work my way through those videos in the coming days. One thing I have had which I am returning in due course is the freewell variable neutral density filter. I’ve found over a short space of time it creates too uneven a picture. As I like taking panoramic photos it really destroys the stitching ability later on as the lightroom raw editor can’t remove the resulting uneven vignette effects caused by filter. Don’t know if you’ve tested this yourself?
Hey Ricardo thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It is much appreciated! Your question is a great one since many people have it. To be safe I wouldn't leave any battery charging overnight while you are sleeping, especially batteries with high energy densities such as lithium-polymer batteries (such as in the Mavic 2). Sure the batteries are "intelligent" but there are always chances for failure. Fire's can spread so fast, It's better not to risk it. Be sure to check out the LiPo bags i use when charging in my Mavic 2 Accessories Video: th-cam.com/video/yDmooxI6Xv0/w-d-xo.html
Thanks for the information on about the auto discharge after 10 days, cause I could not find that option in the UI, like the Pro and of course I didn't read the directions.
Hey Bryan thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Much appreciated! normally the firmware is checked upon start of the app. Not sure if the fly app uses the same system as DJI go 4. Try checking manually for firmware on the last tab in the app when you are in camera view. Maybe this will force it to check battery too on the "non updated" batteries.
If my battery is stored for 3-4 days at 25-30% is it OK ?Also if my battery is at 50%,and i want to fly the next day...what should i do?Charging from 50% to 100% and fly,or discharge from 50% to 25% and then charge to 100% and fly ?
great questions. 25-30% is ok for a few days. Better than fully charged for sure! If your batt is at 50% I would charge to 100% the next morning then fly.
Hey there Bjørn thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Much appreciated! The lilo bags contain the huge flames which normally shoot out of lipo batteries when they catch fire. I don’t have personal experience with that. I hope I never will. I have used an old ammo can before with sandbags, now am using lipo bags exclusively though. Hope that helps :)
@@Quadcopterguide i have been ok with 3.6v per cell in storage so far. No puffing up issues. But I top up once a month again to 60% and let it self discharge after 1 day. All this for Mavic 2 pro
What if I didn't fly my drone for 5-6 days because it's bad weather but the batteries are fully charged, how bad is this and do I need to connect them to the charger after those 5-6 days of no use when i want to fly again? (mavic 2)
Hey EnjOy! thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Much appreciated! That is of course a great question. So if people read this in the future and maybe DJI has let us adjust the days by then... but at the time of writing this isn’t the case. So let’s assume the setting is 10days to discharge. Theoretically the batteries still have 100% charge. What I would do after more than a day after charging, so 2-3ish to 10 days after I would toss the battery back on the charger to ensure there wasn’t any fluke discharge for whatever reason. Odds are the battery won’t even begin charging since it’ll report a full charge. Just wait a good 20-30 seconds after plugging the battery into the charger and if it doesn’t light up it’s as full as it’ll get. Hope that makes sense and is understandable. Let me know if not and if you have other questions! Otherwise I’ll see you in the next video!

I have the Mavic 2 Pro & Zoom and all the other DJI drones including the V2 and the EVO yeah I'm drone drunk LOL. Battery care is very important. The 6 batteries I have for my M2's have about 125 flights plus on them each and still giving me over 20 minutes of flight time easy. Rotation, not charging a hot battery(it won't let you) and using your batteries like exercising a muscle is good for them like you said. I fly over 8+ times a day mixing up my drones. Although the DJI and along with other decent drone apps will warn you on things but it's also good to check the health of everything every so often, a lot of time you can see things coming. Don't just fly! Good video. Thanks!
Hey Master P! Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment brother! That’s a lot of drone flying. What do you mainly fly the drones for? Just for fun? Work? Appreciate the feedback!
@@Quadcopterguide I fly mostly for fun like a kid with a kite. Very cool. Yea I always ask myself why I still have my mavic Pro. Perhaps I should have sold it after my mavic 2 review video... your right it can be relaxing when doing it for fun. That’s for sure. Appreciate you stopping by mate. See you in the next one.
I give my batteries a number code. Currently I have 4 batteries. With dots, as seen on dice, I know which battery is which. This way I quickly know what to use next. It also helps to use all of them about the same amount of times. I marked the batteries on the front and backside. This way I can easily see it when they are in my camera bag. When a battery is used, I put them back in the bag with the terminals facing me. When they are charged the terminals are facing the other way.
Hey Edwin, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Much appreciated! Excellent system you put in place. I have my batteries marked as well. Every once in a while I compare load cycles on the batteries and then note if some are getting underused or overused and adjust my usage accordingly. Which drone do you fly?
@@Quadcopterguide I fly the Mavic 2 Zoom. I had a hard time deciding between the Zoom and the Pro. There are pros and cons on both models. I am thinking of changing the gimbal assembly. But that will ruin the _refresh plan_ I got. I see a lot of advantages on the Pro model. And getting a whole new Pro model is kind of expensive... so, still in doubt.
Very nice Edwin, the Mavic 2 Zoom is a nice drone! That zoom feature can sure come in handy. Getting another gimbal or swapping for a Mavic 2 Pro are both expensive and in the case of changing the gimbal yourself, risky procedures :D. What makes you want to upgrade to the Mavic 2 Pro?
@@Quadcopterguide The reason to upgrade to a *pro* model is mainly the 10bit color depth and the larger sensor size. I have been working with high-end broadcast _(XDCAM, LDK, etc)_ and cine cameras _(RED)_ for about 25 years now. I know that larger sensors handle low light situations better, among other advantages. I will keep the zoom gimbal assembly though. Because there are many situations where I would like to get a bit closer to my subject without loosing resolution. So, I might swap that one back in those rare situations.
Edwin van den Akker Edwin van den Akker You are of course spot on with the larger 1” sensor on the mavic 2 Pro. If they earn you money now or in future it makes sense to own both. Some people complain about the readout from the sensor not being as good as it could be, of course thermal management always play a role. Either way it is vast improvement over the original mavic Pro. Experience with RED and co :) sounds cool but also a bit more stressful. I don’t think I’m ready for a raw video workflow yet :).

Nice man! Your gonna love the mavic 2 Pro! The ND filters were just ND without PL (polarizer) you mean? That’s ok. I haven’t flown yet with the PL on anything other than off. I suppose if I fly near an ocean or lake and it’s super reflective I may have to start messing with it. It just seems silly to me on a drone where you change your angle to the sun all the time. @@Quadcopterguide I have used the AIR for dirt bikes, wakeboarding and cars/trucks. So for wakeboarding being on water I should get the polarized lens huh?
Oh nice! I like me some wakeboarding. You could always try a filter with PL. If your going to do it, it does make sense to use them while on the water. You just have to adjust the filter on the ground for the primary direction of your filming. Once the angle changes 90° etc I don’t think the PL will be as effective. Hi Pete, thanks for writing. Hm, i wonder why that sometimes happens. It has happened to me as well in the past, not sure when the last time was. Try this, and let me know: With everything off plug in your smartphone into the Mavic 2 remote control, now once with the smartphone in sleep mode and once awake at the home screen, try turning on the remote. Hi peter. Thanks for writing back. We will get to the bottom of this. Somehow. Yes you can use the normal USB-A port on the bottom of the remote. When you do this it’s important to completely unplug the side micro usb cable. Otherwise the bottom port won’t work correctly. That’s always a good test. See if that way works more consistently. It should work with a phone like that as well of course. In terms of the simulator and the spectrum RC I’m not sure. Don’t those have a mono style 3.5mm or a micro USB port for trainer linking etc? I would expect that to work but check the simulator and spectrum sites or forums for the best info on that.
I have 3 batteries that I have written 1,2,3 on top. I use 1,2,3, and then charge them, then use in reverse 3,2,1 charge them then use batteries 1,2,3. This is my system not over using any 1 battery and getting charged on a regular basis
Very nice. I never got the chance to fly a platinum but have the OG mavic Pro. Always enjoyed flying that. The transmission strength of the RC is amazing. Drone flies great. Camera was good for it’s class. What do you mainly use it for?
Hi Tundra, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. The smaller bags i show are these: store.dji.com/product/dji-battery-safe-bag?vid=31301&as=0060&ch=Video_Description&from=dap_unique&pbc=y9nEKXjI&pm=custom The larger ones are harder to find but this one would be similar geni.us/zFg8Y2
Hey Daniel, thanks for watching and commenting. I sure do appreciate it! Great question. The 60% is met when 2 LEDs are solid and the third is flashing. A few minutes after that status is reached its depleted to 60%. Stay tuned for a video in the future about how to better discharge the battery to the perfect level.
Hey Dave thanks for stopping by and commenting! I think I ran across the Phantom angel a couple years ago. While it does seem somewhat useful, why waste the energy that is in the batteries as opposed to just charging something with it? Maybe I’ve gotten to anal, probably because electricity is $0.33 a kilowatt-Hour here...
Great question Encho, thanks for stopping by and asking. I always store one battery in the drone as that way the contacts don’t have a chance to get dirty with dust and other debris. I haven’t seen any guidance to avoid that. Hope that helps!
Great information, thank you Felix. When you are purposely discharging the MP2 battery to 50% using a load such as a cell phone, how do you know when you are at or close to the 50% state of charge? Do you put the battery in the drone and then look at the display on the controller?
Hi Bill, great question. The target percentage for the Mavic 2 Pro and Mavic 2 Zoom as well as Enterprise is 60% battery charge level for storage. When you get 3 solid LEDs you are between 50-75%. So normally I wait a few minutes after the 3rd LED goes solid. Hope that helps!
Great Need to know info My current charging purposes is hook up phone charger to phone when it beeps from watching to much stuff on utube about what I hope accures. That's called a Miracle. But hay I just Lurned proper care for if and when that Blessing I pray for happens. Good stuff to know Good Content Thanks and take your Mavic out for a flight from me!
40 degrees C is the threshold of battery degradation... keeping the battery at 50% charged keeps the solid electrolyte layer inactive so no ions drifts when charge is halfway... puffed up batteries usually happens when constant charging and heat occurs in the cell...
hey sli Fox! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. I luckily haven't had any DJI batteries swell up so far. I did have some LiPo packs for some RC 3D planes that swelled up after longer no-use. I don't think they swelled up due to constant charging and high heat. But maybe the ambient temperature got too warm at times. I think in my case it was more because of non-use. Which drones are you flying? Still the Inspire 1?
Hey Jeremy thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Much appreciated! ...uhhh thank you 😊 I guess haha. What did I do to deserve such love my friend? 😎 what drone you flying these days?
@@Quadcopterguide The Mavic 5 Pro here in the future... thanks for being the first! haha Mavic 2 Pro here.. just got it today, and I didn't know where to start with finding out how, when, why the batteries.. lol.
Hi Aleksandr, thanks for watching the video and taking the time to comment. Excellent question regarding Mavic 2 Battery rules & recommendations. Most of the information i mention is actually available in one form or another in the DJI documents for Intelligent Batteries and the Mavic 2. You can check out those documents here: www.quadcopterguide.com/h44q Additional points came from my personal & professional use of RC & LiPos over the last 12 years. Hope that helps! What drone are you flying currently?
Hey Jona, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Much appreciated! The batteries should get cycled monthly, but the best case scenario is storing them at the 60-65% mark. I would charge them up, and carefully use them to about 30-40% charge level and then let rest and charge full again. Rest. Then discharge to 60%.
Bought my Mavic 2 Pro in 2020, soon after I found out the batteries were already a year old when I bought this and not long after that I was in touch with DJI support to report that my batteries were swelling!! After many calls and emails they replaced my 3 batteries under warranty and as an apology for the horrible service they sent me a code to order a new battery on them.
Hi Robert thanks for your comment and taking the time to watch! I agree that the battery will slowly discharge once it hits 10 days of everything works as it’s supposed to, but if on day 9 you push the button on the battery once to check the charge level, it resets the 10 day timer. I normally have the setting set to 1-2 days but we don’t have that option (yet?) on the Mavic 2’s. Of course it’s better to store a battery long term more charged than less (of the ideal 65%) as there is no way for a battery to charge itself back up to that storage level. Hope that makes sense!
Whoa dude! 8 batteries. I guess that’s “only” 4 per drone and totally justifiable (I got 4 as well 😂). What do you use your mavic 2 Pro and mavic 2 Zoom for mostly?
Also for work I have over 38 Waypoint missions I run every week saved it in my original Mavic 2 Pro controller, Wish there’s a way to copy the way points or move to the new Smart Controller. Each Waypoint has 30 to 72 points long time to reprogram into Smart Controller. I Any Help?? Thanks
Wow that’s a lot of flying. Do you film construction or? Hm. Not sure if the waypoints are transferable as is. Have you looked into the GS app? Seems to be made more for your kind of heavy duty use. www.quadcopterguide.com/Fuh64 Check that out.
Quadcopterguide Sorry long day. Our std. size 30’ x 25’. They they lay out rows of 100’ to 160’ strips. Most of the rows are angled toward the ☀️ Avg. 20 to 50 rows. I do front & back. @@wizbang99 Wow, so each flight is totally automated? It flies above the panel to inspect, then automatically flies below and takes a pic or video of the digital readout? Do you have to deliver video to the client or just values from the readouts and an assessment of the panels?
Haha, hey Johny Depp, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I agree with you. Honestly, even if DJI just sold a seperate Advanced charger I would probably buy it. Then with each new drone they would just charge for a new adapter. I assume they think the auto-discharge after 10 days is enough. Or they want to sell you more consumables ie. batteries.... What Drones do you fly mate?
@@Quadcopterguide I have the mavic 2 pro and the mavic air... and heaps of homebuild drones... plus some planes and helies... i use the mavics for video only.. and i must say the mavic 2 pro is really good at it.. i like the compactness and video quality from it... but the price for the drone and for its batteries are just insane... i mean i can buy 4-5 batteries for my homebuilds for the same price of 1 battery to the mavic 2 pro.... but i recond its more a drone for the consumer market than for the hobby users
wow nice collection man. I hear ya about the prices for the batteries. I guess all the intelligent features they toss in each battery plus the hopefully higher-end cells cost a bit, but of course the profit-margin is probably pretty good on those suckers. Hey do you have FPV style drones? Not really racers but ones where you can strap a gopro on? I guess those are the "5in" size?
@@Quadcopterguide i think the profit from dji is pretty big... i can buy batteries with the same features for about 30 usd each... they are most fpv drones both freestyle and racers... some of them are 5 inch and can have a go pro on it... tho you can buy very good quality cameras cheaper than go pro... not 4k but does the job well and can do 1080p 60 fps www.banggood.com/Caddx-Turtle-V2-1080p-60fps-FOV-155-Degree-Super-WDR-Mini-HD-FPV-Camera-OSD-Mic-for-RC-Drone-p-1360782.html?rmmds=myorder&ID=224&cur_warehouse=CN but i think the market is different... at least from what i have seen most dji users... they really like pnp product and dont care or know much about the electronic in their drones... but again i bought my mavic 2 pro for filming videos only... and it does the job very well... and i cant get a 1080p videolink without spending 500-600 usd for the videolink... but i dont mind as the latency on the analog is way better and makes me able to more acrobatic flights :)
Haha. 🤣 that white reflection in the right eye (so left while looking at video). No idea why it gives me that white line. I know I need to blink more, and try to be more like my normal self. It’s not easy! Practice makes perfect. What drone you flying man?
@@Quadcopterguide your Vid was exactly what i was looking for since I heard about those batteries need special care but I didn't know what kinda care it was :D dont worry man your Vid was very informative Im currently flying my first drone ever- a Mavic 2 Zoom and I'm totally in love with it :)
Wow. 😮 that is fantastic to hear man! You have no idea how good it is to hear that. Glad it helped you out. The mavic 2 batteries are great and advanced. They still require a healthy dose of respect as just because they are advanced doesn’t mean they have 0 risk of issues. One can minimize the risks even more by being careful. Anyhow. That mavic 2 Zoom is sweet. What do you mainly use it for? Do you have previous experience with RC?
@@Quadcopterguide yeah the power that those little thingies can output in such a short timeframe is amazing :D I make car videos for my friends since they really like my footage (or more the footage my mavic takes :P) but I am personally more interested in exploring places with it and getting another perspective of things. I once had a RC helicopter but it broke down fairly quickly unfortunately
Nice! I’ll have to check out some of your car videos. You have them on your channel? I will check your channel after this anyways. Maybe I’ll get lucky. That’s funny. I did some cool orbit shots with my phantom 3 Pro back when it was the bees knees and I just found that footage again the other day. So much noise and compression. My snobbishness with the mavic 2 calls the footage unusable lol. Was fun to shoot though. The fpv racer and filmer lipo are even more insane. Unreal. I agree about exploration and additional perspectives. So cool to see things from a new Birdseye view. The live view we get with the DJI go 4 app and ocusync 2.0 is great. Then you look at the footage off the microSd card and you are amazed at the details. Good stuff.
This is solid advice....Lipo batteries are getting better with self protection but they need respect owing to chemical composition.....I always consider them an angry battery that will go off at you if you annoy it lol. Forgive me if I missed it but did you mention to not leave them unattended when charging?. To be honest....they must have gone with Lipo for explosive power for high speed flying.....pity they do not offer a none Lipo for people who do not want the speed. Batteries of that type would be cheaper and would only be a few minutes less flight time. One thing they should do is commission the advice from this video and turn it into a battery safety information card to be included and also include a charge pouch. This video will help so many....well done on providing content for safety
Hey ARD! Wow, thanks for the kind words. You brought a smile to my face! Haha, i like that "consider them an angry battery". I should stick angry face stickers on them, that's a great way to think about them. I know i mentioned to not let the batteries charge unattended, maybe i falsely cut that clip out, as a mistake when i was trying to trim the videos length. Whoops, I'll make a note in the description. Of course an excellent point. It would be interesting if they could get 80% of the performance with something like NIMH. LiPos are such a standard now, I'm glad DJI at least takes the steps to build-in the many safeguards into the Mavic 2 Battery and other DJI Intelligent batteries. Of course, these safeguards are at the end of the day implemented by a human, so errors can always occur, plus a cell can always swell up and burst. Caution is always important, no matter how many safeguards are in place. A very interesting idea to include a little safety card. I suppose they expect everyone to read the manual.. haha, that was a good one I know. I can't believe how much the batteries have improved over the last 5-10 years. There are FPV Racer packs that provide 135C discharge rates.. Insane. Thanks again ARD!
Quadcopterguide Agreed.....but I honestly think your points here would tranlate very well onto a card. The battery is the heart of the drone and needs care and attention. They have put in safe guards but like you say....there is a big human factor in ensuring the rest. I will, if you allow, share this video to a few other channel....this is solid advice for any drone owner where Lipo is involved...
Hey thanks. We will just have to convince DJI now haha. Sure, feel free to share the video! Hope the info helps others as well. Maybe I have to make a few non-Mavic 2 videos, otherwise I’ll get you ordering one sooner then you wanted 😂.

@@Quadcopterguide i just got the incredible mavic 2. My second battery was acting funny . when i put the battery on the DRONE the drone activated partially. I looked at your video to see if I could find out more. I don't think you covered the update part of the battery? Its now charging and I hope it's not a problem.
Ah gotcha. I hope I didn’t miss mentioning that each battery should also be placed in drone. Been a while since I filmed that, would have to watch it again 😂. When you place a battery which hasn’t been updated you should get the inconsistent firmware message. Normally that update goes pretty quick though. Still annoying to have to waste precious battery to do an update in the field. Which Mavic 2 did you go for? The Pro or Zoom?

just the stock charger that charges the remote, then i have that 4 way hub that u can plug the single charger in and it charges the batteries from most charge to least... came with the flymore combo
but i do have four batteries and have kind of been favoring one battery pack i def gotta rotate..
I’ve been killing my batteries till now! Thanks a lot for those precious tips!

If it charges other batteries fine thats not it... good luck
Thank you. Could you give us advice regarding the remote controller battery please ?

F found inconsistent in readings or a minor change in body form i put a mark on them.
crazy the battery got bloated. I wonder what the issue was. The dji batteries have all kinds of protection built in. Very odd.
@@Quadcopterguide DJI may have a good AC but I doubt there batteries are some of the major causes of crashing? Aside from the apps and pilot error. Bec I notice of my 25 batteries most of them are slightly bloated and others are not.
Thanks again for the tip!
the batteries had a own storage mode system right??
@@Timberjagi thanks for watching & taking the time to comment! The Mavic 2 Batteries do have a storage mode yes. But if they are depleted more than 60% the battery, of course, can't charge itself to that ideal storage level. What drone are you flying?

Hey Davig thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It is much appreciated!
Around what battery percentage do you charge your battery?
hi and thanks for video! do you know how many cycles of charging can be done before the battery becomes danger for flying? thank you!
Great detailed guide. These batteries are more high maintenance than I thought.
@@miles267 congrats dude! Feels good to pass something like that. That new video should go live Sunday.
how long do mavic 2 pro batteries usually last? Mine are swelling at 2 years. Is that normal, I have not been doing your recommendations on care though. I will start
Hi Herman, thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It is much appreciated! Thats a good question, i think it's a matter of following these guidelines and how much the batteries are used. I got mine at launch and my batteries knock on wood are not swelling. This could be attributed to my storage regiment or perhaps you fly more often than I do. Just be super careful since the swelling can pop out the battery in flight and you risk loosing your whole quad in the process.
Hi there a good morning. I have a question regarding the voltage fully charged 4.2 to 4.24
And typically storage voltage should always be around 3.8 to 3.8 for that is for all of the lithium polymer batteries that I use on my helicopters and my RC airplanes.
Thank you so much for the response. I always like to learn new things. And I learned something new. Thanks again and have a great day happy flying
No worries, glad you checked out the video. Feel free to browse other videos as well :)
i have 3 batteries (mavic 2) and i wonder is there any product on the market out there that you might know of that would allow, parallel charging, auto cycling of the batteries, and bring them to storage mode?
Hope that helps!
my mavic zoom battery not charging after crush on a tree until the drone drain the battery .how i fix it sir .?i hope u can help me

How do you make your batteries go into hibernation mode ?
It’s best to have them at storage voltage and then leaving them alone will enter hibernation mode after a set time period.
Nice informative and well-presented vid. Thx!
Hey thanks for taking the time to watch and comment Joseph. It is much appreciated! Which mavic 2 are you flying?
@@Quadcopterguide I'm using the M2Pro. Actually, I have another question please. When you fully discharge the battery should it first be fully charged before discharging, or doesn't it matter? Thanks again!
Thanks for the informative video. I’ve had my DJI M2P for 4 months now and I’ve used common sense upto now but your video re-assures some things and makes me aware of others I had no clue about. BTW I’ve got the lipo bags too. Although after watching this I’ll be getting a bigger one to hold charger and 4 batteries at once. Thanks again. James

Okay, so I buy a usb adapter for my mavic 2 battery. How do I know when my battery is down to 60%?
The battery sectors flashing. Forget the exact number but it's in the manual. You want 60% for storage voltage.
I got a fly away on my Mavic 2 Pro and got it back and it came back at 0% should I charge them back up again straight away
hey great question. I would recommend letting batteries cool and then charging them to storage voltage. congrats on the save!
Can I leave charging all the batteries and also the controller overnight?
No. Are you stupid? If one batteries will starts to burn then goodnight.
MAKABO - not stupid.... and u must be the smartest guy so..... I have the charging hub and when the battery is fully charged it’s turn off....
@@kdu4692 aahhh and the charging hub cannot burn. Is your life. 👍👍👍
Tank 62 hey Tank thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. Much appreciated! Glad you found this video helpful. Which mavic 2 are you flying?
Is there a way to make the Air 2 check the battery firmware? So far only 1 of my 3 batteries has prompted me for an update.
@@Quadcopterguide Many thanks !
Great video!
Do the lipo bags actually work? Would be interesting to see a test :-)
Isn't the nominal storing voltage for a lithium polymer batteries to be 3.5v per cell around 30% ?
3.6v per cell normally but DJI's Intelligent circuitry needs a different voltage i guess?
@@Quadcopterguide Awesome, that was very understandable :) Thanks for the quick reply and great informative video !

I find myself going to the Mavic's mostly, thinking about selling my Mavic Air and Platinum but I find the Air a perfect travel when we go on vacation. I own a DJ company so sometimes I do use them at weddings too. But something about flying these things I find relaxing.

What do you mainly shoot with your Air currently?
@@Quadcopterguide I have used the AIR for dirt bikes, wakeboarding and cars/trucks. So for wakeboarding being on water I should get the polarized lens huh?
Oh nice! I like me some wakeboarding. You could always try a filter with PL. If your going to do it, it does make sense to use them while on the water. You just have to adjust the filter on the ground for the primary direction of your filming. Once the angle changes 90° etc I don’t think the PL will be as effective. I would try the FW set I linked in my ND filter video: th-cam.com/video/gIEFxkY_Y00/w-d-xo.html

Oh and I use an iPhone X as well when flying with just a smartphone. Works great.

When i use the battery as a Powerbank, how can i see if the battery reaches 60%?
Hey Daniel, thanks for watching and commenting. I sure do appreciate it! Great question. The 60% is met when 2 LEDs are solid and the third is flashing. A few minutes after that status is reached its depleted to 60%. Stay tuned for a video in the future about how to better discharge the battery to the perfect level.
Have you heard of the Phantom Angel? It conditions, discharges and puts it in storage mode.
I had one for MP. The M2P is out to buy. Check it out.
Is it good or bad to store one of the batteries on the drone?

What happens if you leave the batteries at 60% for one year without flying or discharching them, couse that happened to me because of an health issue.
Thanks.

Bought my Mavic 2 Pro in 2020, soon after I found out the batteries were already a year old when I bought this and not long after that I was in touch with DJI support to report that my batteries were swelling!! After many calls and emails they replaced my 3 batteries under warranty and as an apology for the horrible service they sent me a code to order a new battery on them.
thx for watching!
Storing the battery full is not bad that's y it's a smart battery 10 days it starts discharging it self
Thanks I have 8 batteries 🔋 for my M2Pro & M2Zoom. And use them alot. I # and rotate use. Keep Flying 🦅 Thanks Ken

why do dji not just implant a storage function in their charger instead like any other lipo charger in the market ?
Haha, hey Johny Depp, thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. I agree with you. Honestly, even if DJI just sold a seperate Advanced charger I would probably buy it.
@@Quadcopterguide i think the profit from dji is pretty big... i can buy batteries with the same features for about 30 usd each...
they are most fpv drones both freestyle and racers... some of them are 5 inch and can have a go pro on it... tho you can buy very good quality cameras cheaper than go pro... not 4k but does the job well and can do 1080p 60 fps
www.banggood.com/Caddx-Turtle-V2-1080p-60fps-FOV-155-Degree-Super-WDR-Mini-HD-FPV-Camera-OSD-Mic-for-RC-Drone-p-1360782.html?rmmds=myorder&ID=224&cur_warehouse=CN
but i think the market is different... at least from what i have seen most dji users... they really like pnp product and dont care or know much about the electronic in their drones... but again i bought my mavic 2 pro for filming videos only... and it does the job very well... and i cant get a 1080p videolink without spending 500-600 usd for the videolink... but i dont mind as the latency on the analog is way better and makes me able to more acrobatic flights :)
Why the music?
thx for watching!
His eyes haunt me but cool video mate
Haha. 🤣 that white reflection in the right eye (so left while looking at video). No idea why it gives me that white line. I know I need to blink more, and try to be more like my normal self. It’s not easy! Practice makes perfect. What drone you flying man?
@@Quadcopterguide your Vid was exactly what i was looking for since I heard about those batteries need special care but I didn't know what kinda care it was :D dont worry man your Vid was very informative
Im currently flying my first drone ever- a Mavic 2 Zoom and I'm totally in love with it :)
Quadcopterguide Ha ha...believe me it is in depth videos like yours that really help. I have learnt so much and for that I am grateful. I think in a couple of weeks I will be ordering. But will email you first. Thanks again
😉 no problem. Any person I can help ahem. Get addicted... to these things/tools/the hobby is 👍🏼 great. Looking forward to the future my friend and your email at that time. Cheers 🍻
Phantom 5 not coming out in the next 5 years
Hey alien eye thanks for watching and taking the time to comment. Much appreciated! Let’s hope we get a suitable replacement then! There’s a big gap between the Mavic line and the Inspire. Don’t you agree?
Jesus, these are some picky ass batteries! 😀
haha. They aren't necessarily picky.. Its if you want to optimize them for the longest lifespan possible :). What drone are you flying these days?
Quadcopterguide no, it’s just a lot to remember is all. I’ll probably watch this video multiple times for it to all sink in. I picked up the Mavic 2 Pro about three weeks ago. What an awesome drone!
Tundra Whisperer Awesome man! The Mavic 2 Pro is an amazing drone. Feel free to subscribe for more videos on the Mavic 2 Pro and other gear. What do you mainly use or plan to use your Mavic 2 for?
I lick my battery from time to time
😂. That was a good one. It’s like the old alkaline batteries. See if they still have juice left. *warning* people don’t lock any batteries please :). Which drone you flying Kevin?
@@Quadcopterguide i just got the incredible mavic 2. My second battery was acting funny . when i put the battery on the DRONE the drone activated partially. So I took it out and used the one that came with the mavic. Tested the amazon second battery and it was only 80%. Odd
Then I had a firmwear update notification, and the battery did work no issues.
Can I store my batteries completely dead if I’m not flying for a month?🪫
it's best to store them at 20-35%..
so what is the storage level?
thx for watching!
