Happy New Year to you both. You made me have a look to see if you could fly direct from Faro to the Azores, and it's a thumbs up, so hopefully i'll get there this year. Could you confirm if the taxi tours prices are per car or per person?
Happy New Year Steve & Alicia, did the complete island of Sao Miquel by public bus in 2009 all the way up to Nordeste in the north only 1 bus a day went up there, single fare then was €1,70😀
The thing about your videos Steve, is that watching them makes you feel like you're on holiday with mate. Walking around, seeing the sights. The interactions are genuine and don't feel forced. It's very enjoyable. I have no idea why I'm watching videos of someone riding a bus around a random island set in the Atlantic, but that's credit to the work you do. Happy New Year mate!
My dad passed away very suddenly just before Christmas, and one of the few things i’ve been able to find comfort in over the past week is the escapism of your videos. Happy New Year Steve
Mr Marsh, I do like the fact that you are a very considerate man. Moving further back for (potentially) elderly people to have a seat, waiting to get on the bus after everybody else, worrying about paying details, trying not to be in anybody’s way…etc etc etc….. Very nice! Greetings from wee Denmark. 😊 Happy New Year to you and Alicja! 🎉
This is what my life’s come to - waiting for the next Steve Marsh video to drop. Even our daughters love them too. Happy New Year from Melbourne, Australia!!
From Melbourne, too, and I have the family watching Steve's videos 👍👍👍 Taking my partner on the Queenscliff ferry next week end as we are craving a ferry trip🩵⛴️🩵
The restaurant where you ate is called "O Aviao" and the reason why you have several airplanes on the tiles inside is because the owner is a former pilot from the Azorean Airline SATA.
It seems like you’re living a dream life. I don’t understand how it seems like you get hate comments. It doesn’t make sense. You seem very kind person exploring every into Europe that most people in the United States would love to experience love your accent. It is so cool. I love the Scottish accentreally enjoy your videos. Keep up the good work.
Loved the Azores videos! My wife is from Sao Miguel, I'm from Cardiff, we live in Massachusetts. It was great to see Sao Miguel from a different viewpoint. Love the channel, thanks!
Oh Steve… The Azores are beautiful islands, staying in Ponta Delgada is like visiting Scotland staying just in Glasgow. São Miguel (by car) has video material for a week, by bus for two. The only tea fields in Europe, the volcanic hot pools, the ‘cozido’ made burying it in hot earth, all the flowers, the incredible ‘miradouros’ (view spots) all around, all meticulously kept clean and prepared…. And there are 8 more islands, smaller, each different, all green and flower covered.
@@shelaghrobertson8286 yes, definitely. There are lots in the Azores, in fact probably some of the oldest and largest in the Northern Hemisphere. Many plants from Oceania do very well there, even becoming invasive, such as Pittosporum undulatum (Australian cheesewood) and Acacia melanoxylon (Australian blackwood).
I agree, BUT, I only had a small window to fit this trip into, so I'll always be happy to do a trip like this in a couple of days than miss out on it altogether. I also run the channel as my job, had it been a holiday, 100% agree
When we were in Ponta Delgada, we found out that the Tourist Information has some information about the busses, and we took one to Ribeira Grande, a nice town with an amazing modern art museum! Great vid again, Steve! Thx
What a great journey to São Miguel. Even the harbour protection was painted in bright colours. I love the balconies and ornate facades. Here's wishing Alicija and you plenty of brilliant adventures in 2025.....and Filson too.
Hi we r watching your beautiful video in Villa Franca do Campo I was born in Villa Franca I live in Canada for 57 years came with my parents when I was very young thank you for posting this beautiful video
Thanks for the tour guide, Steve. I am in my early 70's and have lived in Australia since1964. However, I'm Scottish by birth, my family hailing from Alloa. I have watched numerous of your videos and found them uniformly informative and useful for anyone that is remotely curious about travel and the nuts-and-bolts issues involved in just getting from A to B. I have been interested in the Azores for at least 30 yrs or so and have done much reading on them. Your simple, down to earth impressions have filled in so many of the blank spaces in my mental picture of the place. It is arguably the place I would most like to visit and live in for a few months while that is still a realistic goal for me. The 3 instalments are well worth the wait. Cheers, ken
What a great start to 2025, coffee, toast and a surprise Steve Marsh video, who knows what day it is at this time of the year? I love how respectful you are to the locals (moving on the bus one example), so good to see 😊. Wishing you and Alicja a healthy and happy new year.
Your vid wax a Great bonus to start 2025. I was surprised nobody mentioned the architecture of the buildings which I think was so attractive.. A very healthy and happy new year to you both., 🇨🇦
The bus drivers in Azores (and Madeira) have the same skill sets as those who drive the Amalfi Coast. We spent 5 days in Sorrento a number of years ago, and our little family-run hotel (in hills above Sorrento) had a public bus stop right out front. So we took advantage of that several times to travel along the Amalfi Coast. Sometimes scary, but always amazing, experience.
Thanks Steve great video. My Grandparents immigrated from the Azores to California over a hundred years ago. Thanks for showing the "old" country. I appreciate the respect and kindness you give to the people you meet.
11 minutes is the hotel my family stayed in, excellent spot. Driving around the azores is actually fine and a must. We spent 7 days there and can't wait to go back. You've missed so much of the island, please go back😊
Your last two videos were incredible. I think you’ll be solely responsible for a huge spike in the number of people holidaying in the Azores in 2025! Thank you so much.
Steve there’s so much more to this beautiful island and you don’t seem to have seen hardly any of it - it really is like visiting Scotland and only going to Glasgow and missing out on the highlands-you must go back some day and do it proper - a car hire really is a must .. anyways love your tours, thanks so much…
Doesn’t matter what video you show it’s always informative and pleasure to watch. Had not ides about Azores Islands so googled it to find out more and what a interesting place.
O my goodness Steve! I used to work at a wholesale tree nursery. There were quite a few sweet fellows( truly) from the Azores and as you walked down that street at 20:26 the men sounded just like Moniz, Lucindo and the others when they were chatting! What an unexpectedly lovely blast from the past. Love the footage, thank you so much. The Azores is on our list….
What a revelation this trip has been, Steve! I'd always imagined the Azores to be soe wee islands where lost yachtmen would fetch up on the way across the Atlantic! How ignorant I was, so thank you for putting the island on my bucket list - although I felt I was there with you! Wonderful. Thank you so much!
interestingly, a lot of the bus drivers from the Azores have actually been to Skye... the Regional-Bus-Authority in Portree has a whole program with the Azores regional government to contract surplus drivers for the peak season. (the network in the Azores being not tourist oriented does not have thesame peak demand) though it has gotten difficult since Brexit, historically about 20% of all the bus drivers would move to Scotland for a few months each summer and in December for the Christmas season.
As a ten year old lad in 1951 I flew in BOAC Constellation from Bermuda to London via Santa Maria in the Azores and Lisbon in a total of twenty-one hours. Quite an adventure I remember well, particularly Lisbon's harbour at the mouth of the Tagus river.
Happy New Year Steve, your poor stomach what you put it through. That pork dish looked substantial but it was a long time between meals. Thank you for suffering for your art
Steve ! A guid new year tae yin and aw , and thanks for all your great work . I hope 25 is good to you and yours , and ' Lang may yer lum reek ' 🏴
What an interesting place - I knew nothing about the Azores and now I do. Really enjoyed the video as it felt like travelling - where to get the bus? - where to eat? It feels like there is money in Sao Miguel but perhaps not for everyone. Thank you and a Happy New Year from sunny Australia.
At 10:50, when you say “look how close we are to the edge, and these are two way streets”, before the main highway was built up on the hill above town, all the traffic used to pass through town. In 1997 we stayed on this road and there was non stop busses, trucks, horses, and traffic flying through town. We’d step out our front door and you only had about a foot of sidewalk before the traffic flying by 😂. AND this isn’t even the town with the skinniest roads lol!
Delightful and so appreciated, Steve. thanks for another surprise video on New Year’s Day, awesome! Wishing you and Alicja the most wonderful, healthy and happy New Year and hope it’s filled with many more fantastic adventures for us to virtually tag along and enjoy with you. Much love from Ireland ☘️
"It might not feel like Christmas - 22 degrees". Well, we were saying much the same here in Perth, Western Australia on Christmas Day, when it was 22.9ºC - but that was because that was unusually cold 😅
I smiled a little at that quip too. I think it was over 40C here on Christmas day, in the Barossa. Mind you, we'd probably think we were dying if we had to experience a Scottish winter 😆
Happy New Year, Steve!! Very Interesting to see part of the Açores. Years ago, I knew a woman who was born there, then her family moved to the US. She went to school in the US and became a citizen. On a visit to relatives in Portugal, she met and married a Portuguese man, and they eventually moved to the US on her citizenship. Working with her was wonderful, she was a lovely person!! She taught me some Portuguese expressions, but they have mostly been lost over the years. One was Pastéis de Nata which I never forgot. Anytime is a good time for a Pastéis de Nata!! And two are even better!! Cheers, Steve!! Chuck in Northern New England
Another interesting and informative video, love it, thanks Steve 👍🏻 Also is a lovely photo of Alicja (sp?) used on your phone lock screen, seen when you were in the bell tower. Keep up the fabulous work, we love watching your adventures x
Steve, I emigrated to North Portugal a few months ago. I was thinking about exploring the Azores, but after watching that it's a definite must. Cracking video by the way. 😊
Hi Steve Paul from Kent happy new year to you another excellent video such a nice place looking forward to more of your brilliant videos in 2025 take care Paul
Thanks Steve, another first class video from the master, very enjoyable as always. I trust you and Alicja had a wonderful new years eve and I hope 2025 will be all you both hope for, stay well and stay safe, cheers from Oz.
A very Happy New year to you both & thanks for today's vlog , something decent to watch on the box this morning. Keep up the great content & safe travels
As always a very enjoyable video, did not expect this one to appear New Years Day. Many thanks for all your videos in 2024 and now looking forward to 2025. Happy and Safe Travelling in 2025😂
Steve, I'm really enjoying the videos. You do travel and narration so well. Each one being so different and interesting. Thanks, Happy and blessed New Year. Keep 'em coming.
Nice to watch that lovely weather on a snowy new years day in Scotland😂Its such a beautiful island👌We thought our Scottish roads and pavements were narrow Steve😂Another awesome video mate, Happy New Year Steve and Alicja😊
Happy New Year, Steve and Alicja! Steve, this was another great video - what a lovely wee town and harbour, and that offshore island was so interesting, wish you could have got there. Some beautiful villas in the countryside outside the towns too. Those narrow streets and pavements scared me a bit though!
Excellent. I went out to that island off Vila Franca about 20 years ago and the thing about it was even on a calm day it was very difficult getting on and off the boat with the waves - the crew had to kind of throw you off. And yes the PD team Santa Clara were in the Premier League a couple of seasons ago so the big boys like Porto and Benfica had to come out. I think I'm right in saying the government subsidises their flights!
Thanks. Steve! Enjoying a coffee and a Steve Marsh video early in the morning on January 1st here in Florida. It's a good way to start 2025. 😊Happy New Year! ❤
Thank you Steve for a wonderful travel visit to the Azores with my cup of coffee on my comfort recliner this wonderful New year morning…a good sign of a fantastic year ahead.
Great video Steve. I visited Ponta Delgarda last year as a passenger on the ship NCL Gem. I took a tour bus to visit a village built in the caldera of the dormant volcano. Beautiful island, friendly locals, skilled bus driver (many switchbacks as we climbed the volcano, then descended down to the village)
We had a great day . Loved it down by the lake , said “hi” to Freddy then went on the cog wheel railway up to Rochers de Naye . It was awesome . You were right when you said the camera doesn’t do it justice ! Loads of people skiing up there . Loved seeing the area in the snow . Just beautiful Was sorry not to be staying there longer . Thanks for the video which made us go ! We’re based in Geneva as our flight back is early Sat ( to keep price down !) . Visited Annecy in France today ..another lovely but busy place !
Recently discovered your channel so my husband and I have been binge watching a lot of your videos in Minnesota, USA. I'm originally from Surrey, UK (mum was from Glaagow) and husband from Cairns, Australia. Keep up the great work, we love your travel videos and a happy new year!
Happy New Year everyone! We made a wee video last night which should be out Saturday :) all the best for 2025 from us both 🎉
Happy New Year to you both. You made me have a look to see if you could fly direct from Faro to the Azores, and it's a thumbs up, so hopefully i'll get there this year. Could you confirm if the taxi tours prices are per car or per person?

I'm sorry for your loss.
Sorry for your loss
Sorry for your loss. 😢
Heartfelt condolences 🖤
So sorry for your loss. I do hope you find peace and some comfort in good memories of him.
Mr Marsh, I do like the fact that you are a very considerate man. I noticed that too. Steve certainly is a true gent, a very kind and friendly chap
I live in Rural Portugal and your bus journey is an everyday occurrence for me....an old lady chewing the ear off the driver ha ha
This is excellent
I would like to go to the Azores one day
This is what my life’s come to - waiting for the next Steve Marsh video to drop. Even our daughters love them too. Happy New Year from Melbourne, Australia!!
Hi I’m from Melbourne Australia as well. Happy new year to everyone! I agree it’s always a thrill to watch Steve .

Sydney checking in :)
Hi to Melbourne. Best place in the world. Happy new year.
The restaurant where you ate is called "O Aviao" and the reason why you have several airplanes on the tiles inside is because the owner is a former pilot from the Azorean Airline SATA.
Thanks!
I live in Canada, I was born in Terceira and my family moved to Canada when I was 10 in 1970.
The Azores were not what I would have expected. So much more developed and seemingly kept clean. Thank you.
There is no reason Steve why we wouldn't make it to the end of your videos as they are always so captivating & informative 👍
It seems like you’re living a dream life. I don’t understand how it seems like you get hate comments. It doesn’t make sense. You seem very kind person exploring every into Europe that most people in the United States would love to experience love your accent. It is so cool. Thank you! There are some strange people online eh! I agree by the way, there's not much controversial on my channel :)
Another superb video, Steve. I really enjoyed the trip on the bus with you! (But I’m glad I didn’t have to find the bus stops!)
Big fan Steve..hi from Chester UK
Stevie “wee bit” marsh with another banger and it’s over 40 minutes. Cheers to another awesome “wee bit” video to start the wee day!

@hanfelt I thought I spotted Norfolk Pines as Steve travelled around, can you clarify, you seem to know the islands well 😉

Hi we r watching your beautiful video in Villa Franca do Campo I was born in Villa Franca I live in Canada for 57 years came with my parents when I was very young thank you for posting this beautiful video
Another great real video Steve, it is also very reassuring to watch someone else who wants to be very early for transport, I’m exactly the same!

Excellent video. I love the way EVERYTHING is there including airport travel. Glad you got some fud
Very interesting trip! Thanks! Those tiny sidewalks were a bit scary!
Happy new year! The most educational part of my journey has been on public transportation, very insightful
I love it when you visit places I've been. It brings back great memories.
Wishing you a Awesomeness 2025 Steve. Looking forwards to coming along on your new adventures.. such as this one.. Cheers.

Brilliant video Steve, looks like a quirky place thanks for the invite
"It might not feel like Christmas - 22 degrees". Well, we were saying much the same here in Perth, Western Australia on Christmas Day, when it was 22.9ºC - but that was because that was unusually cold 😅
I smiled a little at that quip too. I think it was over 40C here on Christmas day, in the Barossa. Mind you, we'd probably think we were dying if we had to experience a Scottish winter 😆
I feel as if I am having the fun and interest of travel, but without the usual miseries. You are my favorite travel companion .
Have been follwing your travels for some time and they are great
Happy New Year, Steve and Alicja. I've loved watching your trip to the Azores. We learn so much from your videos, Steve.
Interesting well put together video, I much prefer the trips where you are not as rushed and we get to see your destination.
I ALWAYS watch 'til the end!!! Happy New Year from Laguna Beach, California!
Thanks You :)

Lovely video Steve!
A great start to the year.
All the best 👍🤓❤
Steve, I emigrated to North Portugal a few months ago. I was thinking about exploring the Azores, but after watching that it's a definite must.
Cracking video by the way. 😊
I hope 2025 is one of your Best Ever Years…All The Best Steve…and Alicja

The Azoers what a "hidden" gem. Maybe a trip for me in december 2025
Steve, I'm really enjoying the videos. You do travel and narration so well. Each one being so different and interesting. Thanks, Happy and blessed New Year. Keep 'em coming.
Vila Franca looks lovely. Good for you Steve moving seats to make space for the elderly passengers.
After watching your bus journey I’m genuinely surprised there hasn’t been a world rally champion from the Azores!
Nice to watch that lovely weather on a snowy new years day in Scotland😂Its such a beautiful island👌We thought our Scottish roads and pavements were narrow Steve😂Another awesome video mate, Happy New Year Steve and Alicja😊

Just back with dogs cold and wet coffee sat down and enjoyed another wee trip on the island great fun made my day
Loved your Azores vlogs Steve. Would definitely like to visit. It reminds me so much of Funchal in Madeira in so many ways. Thanks for sharing 👍 😊

Same here Mary 😊
Great video. Such an interesting and beautiful place. Thanks for taking us there,
Thank you Steve for a wonderful travel visit to the Azores with my cup of coffee on my comfort recliner this wonderful New year morning…a good sign of a fantastic year ahead.
A rather casual driving style on the bus back plus vigorous hand signals.....
My first new favorite for 2025. Loved the Azores…Cold and snowing in Michigan 🇺🇸 today 1/1/25. Best wishes Steve and Alija 🎉❤
Happy new year Steve and Alicja, Many, many safe trips.
Happy New Year Steve and Alicia !! Will watch this later … on train from Geneva Montreaux !!!! Wonder who inspired this outing ?!!
Haha no way!!!! Brilliant!!!!
Visited Annecy in France today ..another lovely but busy place !
happy new year steve marsh

What a nice suprise this video for the New Year...Thank You..Ohh and Happy New Year Steve, for you and Alicja!!
View from the bell tower was wonderful! Better you than me, though! Those stairs!!
The bus driver back though! Heck that is some skill sorting the coins and giving the (correct?) change. 🙂
Looks like you landed in an African airport. Good vid! Happy New Year.
Loved this one, some of the views at the harbor were just amazing. Thank you for sharing your journey!
Recently discovered your channel so my husband and I have been binge watching a lot of your videos in Minnesota, USA. I'm originally from Surrey, UK (mum was from Glaagow) and husband from Cairns, Australia.
Keep up the great work, we love your travel videos and a happy new year!
