Hay fight me. I would like to have a little battle against u.
When the enemy army is attacking my walled Greek/Roman settlement with only ladders, I've placed 2 of my levy pikemen garrison near the entrance into a funnel so that as one enemy infantryman faced one pikeman block their pikes with their shield gets poked from the other from the back.
This only works against AI & only come down to the ground using the nearest stairs but make sure your garrison artillery destroy at least 1-2 ladders so that the rest of the invaders come up and go down to the nearest stairs where they become meat grinders for even the cheapest pike unit
So if a unit is completly surrounded and exusted
That unit has 100% debuff?

If i expect that my opponents intends to sally out i pick light ballista or heavy onager . Even if he/they won't send any units outside the walls you can always adjust angle and range of attack during siege and keep valuable units of opponent away from main fight on streets and usually get more kills then with giant balista.

I played rome total war 1 for years.. and i just cant seem to get any of the strategies tbat used to work to work in rome 2.. and also.. it seems like theres a very frequent issue of.. when alot of units are fighting close together.. unlike in Rome 1.. where you can still manage to keep a functional strategy in that chaos.. in rome 2.. it almost always devloves into a random mass of characters just mashed together and very very difficult to recover any order once it gets there. Am i just not doing something right.. or is rome 2 just kinda shit..
From what I gather you should have extra soldiers like melee infantry behind say pikemen to support them, what I usually tried to do while my infantry had them distracted is put my slingers on the right or left side sometimes both right side to then get behind them at the right moment and or left to hit them typically unshielded side I've also used skirmish cav/shock cav in unison with said slingers but you can get away with just one or the other. It does take some getting used too I recommend pausing battls examing troop types and classifications slowing things down in slow mo etc hell I still use slow mo for cycling my shock cavs. Can always try custom fights to get used to it as well
The main thing your opponents failed at is bringing 20 or 19 stacks.

You said you’re playing 2 pros? Hell sign me to a deal cause the attackers were mediocre at best even with an OP faction like Sparta, and your guerilla tactics are easily countered

ye it sucks, bc of that a ton of people are joining the discord and playing through vc so thats the good thing about it
