    Just came back from a local Acura dealer.

      You did the right thing. I did not give in to the mark up on the boost blue 2020 type r here in Cali. Went out of state and got it for MSRP. We work hard for our money so we can enjoy certain things in life, which includes cars for some of us. Not working hard just throw extra money to some dealer for an absurd mark up...

      @@Demisable_Warth You also did the right thing. I walked away from a CT5-V Blackwing and an RS3. Both local dealers did the song and dance about how they were dedicated to MSRP pricing when courting my business, but when it came time to walk the talk it was a different story. Unfortunately, they knew that there would be buyers who would pay the markup they wanted on those specific cars. Ultimately, the market speaks and buyers share equally in this. Both cars sold. CT5-V B out of state and the RS3 locally.

      Don't be fooled. They're still baking insane amounts of rev hang into these things. The manual transmissions in these cars have literally turned into a gimmick. A novelty. They are awful to drive and will just make you want an automatic. You have to pay an extra $1500 if you want to have anything close to the direct analog feel of any old manual car from the 90's with a flywheel replacement and an ECU reflash. And in my experience, even with the reflash it still doesn't fix the throttle mapping. You'd have to get a $1500 standalone ECU and all the headaches that comes with that just to have a car that gives a satisfying shifting experience. Had a 10th Gen Si and Type R and from watching the driving videos of these 11th gen's they have done nothing to fix it. And why would they? They don't actually care about the driving experience. They just care about ticking the manual transmission box so that they can cash in on the ignorant people that just want the novelty of a manual while also satisfying emissions requirements with all the rev hang. And idiots gobble it up because they have no idea what a car is supposed to drive like.

    Now, I can be satisfied in driving my tuned (Stage 1) 2016 VW GTI S, which I believe has given me all that I've desired for less than $23k when I bought it new.
    I've driven it from NJ to CA, to FL, and and found it almost as comfortable as my 1999 Passat GLX V6. It's been reliable and has enough power that I rarely need to downshift for passing. I appreciate the relatively low-key styling for not drawing unwanted attention.

    Why would the "sensible" Type S only have 4 seats if Acura wants to convince us it's not a Type R? A $52k Civic with 1less seat and a bare bones rear w/no vents, arm rest, or charge ports is a hard pill to swallow when u can get a much nicer well equipped RWD 3 Series BMW with similar power for the money!

    I'd be interested in comparing it to the old integras. At curb weight of 3k lbs, that's pretty damn good. My LS 1.8 which I still drive from 25 years ago is 3400 lbs and still super easy to lose the front from a stop with decent tires and that thing only has realistically 140bhp. I've always found it suspect packing too much power into FWD unless you're on track and rolling appropriate tires. If I can understeer with 140bhp, losing 400lbs and gaining maybe 30bhp seems counterintuitive for aggressive handling when all the weight is in the front. Sounds like it could be an understeer nightmare when you push it on the twists of streets limiting the fun factor.
    This is why I'll eventually get an MX-5. It's heinously less practical but the design makes much more sense being what it's good at and not trying to please everyone. And therein lies the quandry. The old Tegs while quite practical are still driver focused cars (manuals). They can be pushed really hard and are very controllable besides the launch hop skippety go and piss torque until you're over 5000. But that's kind of the point. It works tremendously as both a commuter and pushable fun car and you can stuff a good bunch of shit in it when needed.
    I don't think there's enough freedom in the car industry anymore to replicate how great Integras were and still are. God forbid you had any visibility especially in the rear of any modern car. There are few exceptions but most are god awful unless they're in the crossover to SUV or truck range rolling behemoths. Rear cameras are not a substitute for good visibility. Like no one ever heard of depth perception with binocular vision.
    Ahhh I realized the one thing that would make new teg/s a little bit better than old and new teg is the width. Wider car and tires more contact patch and stance able to push more. Old teg while you can modify them were pretty bog standard comparable to a civic of the era. A couple extra inches makes a huge difference in traction.

    Unless you're dead set on getting a manual (which is understandable), the TLX Type S for $5K more is a much better value than this. And the Integra might even be more expensive factoring in dealer markups.

    • @ryanb8736
      @ryanb8736 ปีที่แล้ว

      TLX is blah. So many people who owned them have already sold them. Too many short comings.
      Throttle mapping is all over the place, especially when going around corners on throttle. Can’t start off in first gear in manual. Those are the biggest drawbacks.

    Grew up with an Integra GSR. Best bang for the buck and was a very nice and practical car. 0-60 in 6.5 seconds, lots of room, revie engine and wonderful transmission. Will wait for the Type R version of this integra to appear in a hatchback. Happens all the time with mid-production runs of manufacturers. Toyota finally acquiesced to a manual trans for the Supra, BMW offered a sedan for the M, etc..

      Agreed. Type-R is a LEGENDARY model name, while Type-S just seems like a 'trim level'...
