  • Audi inaugurated the engine plant in Győr in October 1994. With this plant, the company not only secured its international competitiveness, but also created a strategic site in Hungary that increasingly gained importance. Meanwhile, nearly the entire range of Audi engines comes from Győr.

    Anybody ever notice. You never see any pre-lube on the Cams or Crank. I just assume they spin the oil pump with oil in the pan before they start them.

    The thousands of parts required to build one engine is the reason electric motors with 1 rotor and 2 bearings will be the future.

    So is this the engine that needed piston and turbo replacements along with a premature timing belt failure before 60K miles? Oh put some tunes behind this bland vid though love the Germans! I'm half one!

      Only depends which engine cover the engine gets. VW or Audi. They both use the same engine.

      i work for nissan North America, basically doing the exact thing. Since they were being video'd they were probably told to not talk, but working an assembly line - you can usually chat all shift with the people behind you, which makes it more bearable.

    Now if only they would stop being cheap and make these blocks in aluminum and sleeve them, instead of cast iron they would have something significant. Segregate the petrol and diesel lines! No one should be making cast iron petrol engine blocks anymore.

    • @xyrex5243
      @xyrex5243 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Would probably add to overall costs separating lines. Having one block that does it all is cheaper.

    • @beachboardfan9544
      @beachboardfan9544 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Xyrex Agreed but fords been making diesels with aluminum blocks and iron sleeves for 10+ years. So Audi has no excuse to not just convert all 2.0 blocks to aluminum. They're just too cheap... and that's not a valid excuse. Bottom line no one should still be making iron blocks for automotive purposes.

    • @xyrex5243
      @xyrex5243 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Fords however, aren't up to Audi's reliability standards; which may play a part in their decision to keep aluminium out of the picture.

      That cant possibly be true, all of the issues Audi has had in the past. Oil consumption issues, head carbon buildup, egr valve design problems that were solved first by aftermarket parts mfgs, the throttle issues of the 90s. They have just as many recalls as any other mfg.

      Audi is leaps and bounds above ford nowadays.
