    I got my dog when she was a year old, shortly after she was diagnosed with hip dysplasia. I have had her on Cetyl m for dogs for nine years she is doing wonderful.

    I love how you help empower people by sharing your knowledge. It’s so profoundly helpful. Is it possible to not see any signs of hip dysplasia until the dog is older? My dog has not shown any signs until she was 10, she was always very active running and jumping.

    👍 Great video! Thank you, Dr. Jones! I just came across your videos, and I wished I had discovered them earlier to save my dog who was put to sleep 3 years ago - against my will. The incident has impacted me to this day. Nonetheless, I am sharing your videos to my family and friends, so that they may better take care of and help their beloved aging dogs. I just subscribed your channel. Keep up the good work. 👍🐕

    My senior dog has had problems with his left leg for years due to an injury he received before we adopted him, but now he's doing the bunny hop with both hind legs. I think he has developed arthritis or hip dysplasia. This video makes me feel a little better. He's going to the vet later today to see what they can do. He's already taking Galliprant for his bad leg, so I don't know what other options they will offer!

    My dog is 7 , we found out he has mild hip dysplasia in one joint a few years ago. As soon as we found out we started giving him Yumove, herbal joint drops, turmeric, devils claw, hemp oil, collagen , olive oil, spirulina and milled seeds. I also read cruciferus vegetables , fruits high in antioxidants and fibre filled vegetables like squash, sweet potatoes and pumpkin are beneficial so he gets them as well. We also monitor his weight and weigh all his food. I also give him laser therapy (after checking with the vet) As I said he is 7 years old and doesn’t have any symptoms, hopefully what we are doing will delay it for as long as possible.

    My dog is 1.5 old and limps every time she gets up the last month and doesn’t sit on one side. Sometimes alternating sides, but she still jumps and runs and wants to play. She sees the vet tomorrow. Still Concerned she may have hip dysplasia.

    Dr. Jones, My dog Bella was hurt awhile ago as she has a ruptured disk in her back. We took her in and the vet gave her a steroid shot and she was on pills for a while. She was almost healed when I took her to get groomed and something happened. Now she has a problem with her left back leg when she walks her gate has a kind of Click to it. Her leg doesn't move forward freely as it had, it goes out to the left first before it goes forward. My vet has taken her off of steroids and just put her on Tramadol for pain. She is also on Pimobendin for her heart. I've not alot of money and can't afford surgery for her. Is there Anything I can do for her to help relieve her pain besides pain meds? She has learned to put most of her weight on her front legs. Any suggestions would be great. I so look forward to your videos. Thanks

    Hi, I have a 15 yrs old Shih Tzu, it has difficult walking. He went cervical correction 5 yrs ago. Front feet's move very vast and short steps whiles the feet on his back are more slowly and slowly distended. Sometimes his spine arce. His sergeant did a CT and only on spine looks like calcification but he said that may be a tick infection. He give him Prednisone and Doxycycline but still with the same symptoms. What could it be? Thanks

    • @VeterinarySecrets
      @VeterinarySecrets  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      A full neurologic exam is needed to isolate what area of the spine/brain is causing the specific symptoms. This sounds more like a spinal cord injury vs an infection. Possible tumor. Please go for a re-check

    • @MT-jb3pw
      @MT-jb3pw 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hi we have a new 5 month old puppy and we noticed his back hips seem to be clunking when he walks, is this indicative of hip dysplasia or just normal growing stuff? He's not symptomatic otherwise to our knowledge. If you see this and reply, thank you.

    Looks like our dog/puppy maybe suffering from the same illness & maybe arthritis too. Few days ago he was having a hard time walking. But yesterday was the worst because he can't stand anymore & he feels pain when he tries to move his front & hind legs. Is there a safe remedy for that condition just so that we can bring him to the Vet less the pain?

    Dr Jones may I ask?
    Will osteoarthritis in the rear legs produce the same kind of bunny hop while walking or running?
    He was diagnosed with osteroarthriis. the X-ray showed normal joints. He wasn't prayed while asleep because the vet wasn't happy giving him anesthesia doe to his blood test showing some problems.
    I also did your hip dysplasia test and my dog didn't want me to pull his leg back. Again, could this be a symptom of osteoarthritis? Thanks

    • @VeterinarySecrets
      @VeterinarySecrets  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Neil, Yes is could be. It is the arthritis pain that causes them to resist pulling their legs back.

      Thanks Dr Jones. That eases my mind. As he's twelve and surgery isn't the best option because of his age and also because his blood work isn't as good as it should be, he's gonna get a supercool wheelchair to help support his back end. Many thanks for your helpful videos:)

    My old Chow Chow Chucky had hip dysplasia he was never neutered he passed of testicular cancer at age 14.
    I now have a Shar Pei named Sami who will be a year old march 20th
    I made the mistake of having him neutered early i had him done when he was ready i regret it now that I know this i was just trying to prevent the chance of cancer i wish my vet would have said something all they said was the more the dog weighed the more the neuter would cost so of course being as i don't know a great deal of money i wanted to have him done when he was ready because it would be a little more affordable. This being said now is there something I can do to help prevent this joint overgrowth or anything i can give him to strengthen his joints to fight against the getting hip dysplasia is there other ways to prevent hip dysplasia? Im worried about him getting both hip and elbow dysplasia as Shar Pei are prone to both.

      If you read the comments you will find tips, also watch the other videos on the subject’s that you worry about on this channel. Dr Jones often speaks about glucosamine, 95% curcumine and CBD for dogs. Try and provide your dog with a good quality dieth, you can cook yourself as long as it is nutricially ballanced.
      It is good to learn wich dogfoods are healthy and wich ones to avoid. Follow the tips on how to exercise your dog. Don’t worry too much and enjoy your dog, when your dog has nice times with you this is beneficial for his immune system and health. Dogs sense how their owners feel so enjoy the time together 🐶

    Yay Pippi Luke says hi. Go for the chicken hip my Brother. lol I'm very glad you confirmed I was correct in delaying Lukes neuter. He is now 2 and fortunately not humping spraying in the house or showing any signs of aggression. So for us a great choice. I've decided not to neuter . My property is secure and he has not been showing any attempts to dig or jump his way out Is there any benefit to having him done now. I belive if it's not broke why fix it I assure you he agrees. Have a great weekend.
