    Awesome! I'm actually pretty inspired by Scott's skill at 64 yo. Makes me happy to think I can potentially keep riding for years to come, as I started mtb'ing kinda late

    What a nice surprise! I got to work for Scot for 5 years back in the day, brought back lots of fond memories of riding with him and trying to keep up on some of those same trails. Glad to see he's still ripping it up and fast as ever! Nothing rides quite like an Ibis.

    Cool to hear Scot talk about California "fire ecology", as a forester from the east coast I enjoy when fire, forestry, and biking/recreation collide. Fire plays a major role in how many forests across the country rejuvenate. Some species require fire to open the cones and release seed to establish the next cohort of trees. Ride on boys!

    So cool! I know very little about mountain biking but heard many of those names when I tried getting into it the first time around in the late 90s. I thought I was too old to get back into it at 49 but once again you guys have inspired me by showing me one of the founding fathers still getting out there - and giving you whipper snappers a run for your money!

    Holy motherf..ing s..t ? This is so awesome! I mean being 65 years old and rideing a mountainbike like that, i can only dream of being in that shape when im that age. Never been on a Ibis, rideing a yeti 5.5 now ... and seeing this makes me think that ibis as a brand is really about rideing bikes and building bikes looking at the owner shredding like that! This put a smile on my face looking at this! Cool dude for sure!

  • @willbros1499
    @willbros1499 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    We have tons of Ripmo's here in northwest Arkansas! I met Scot when he was in town at Outerbike. I had just demo'd the Ripmo, and I was gushing to a buddy about how much I loved it, it was the best bike I'd ridden, couldn't believe how well it jumped, how well it pedaled...and I paused, and Scot said, "No, keep going...keep going." I had NO IDEA who he was until Garrett Hubbard introduced me. He shared a few tidbits about the refinements and subtle nuances that had been done to the bike that gave it the characteristics that I loved about riding it. You could just feel the passion about the Ripmo, and cycling in general, in that brief conversation. It's SO COOL that you got to hang out and ride with him. FFWD a few months, and after waffling on "new bike or not this year" I pulled the trigger, and my RImpo is supposed to ship on April 15th!! Woooo Hooooo !!!!!

    • @willbros1499
      @willbros1499 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@scotnicol .... Heck yeah man!! We have so many Mojo Cycling riders on Ibis now, that we should have an "Ibis Only" ride sometime during the event. That would be a gas! Heck...there's enough now to do a Ripmo only ride! :-)
      BTW...it was AWESOME to see you out there at 64 pulling away from those whipper snappers in places!! Motivation for sure! Take care Scot, and definitely see you October, but if you're in the area before then, let Dave at Mojo Cycling or me know, and we'll get a group ride together. Guaranteed good time, and lots of laughs!

    Man, I started out building up my bike in high school much like they did in the 70s because I couldn't afford more. The Mojo was one of the 'halo' bikes to aspire to at the time. Other priorities and sports pulled me away, but I find myself back in it 20+ years later. Thanks for the flashbacks.

    What a great video. I love to watch you guys ride, but this was something special beyond that. I'm sure that what we learned was only a fraction of what he spoke of. You guys are very fortunate to have that. And not to keep going on, but it gives me hope to still be shredding with my little guy at that age.

    Seeing those old bikes is groovy. I've been building up an original Santa Cruz Heckler (1996) and didn't quite realise what kind of advances they've made with drivetrains since then. Modern derailers are definitely a huge improvement over the floppy and loose Shimano-only offerings of yesteryear.

    Ibis HD4 is the bike at the top of my list. Demoed one last year and absolutely loved it! That bike felt so good riding with my rheumatoid arthritis. If I had the money, I would have bought one that day. Never knew he lived there. I used to basically live right next to that guy. Wonder how many times I may have been crossing paths with him on trails and not know it. Cool he mentioned Gary Fisher. I did meet him and he signed my old Paragon. Still have that bike. I know what he means about trying to ride one of the old bikes. I can't ride them anymore.

It's great to see that Scot remains a true MTB enthusiast and continue to make great bikes. It is interesting to observe the progress in the design of Ibis bikes from 2007 to the present, i.e. in the period when Ibis returned to the market in its current status.
