The pilots decided to return back to Denver.

    TOWER: SKW5431, roger, and… Say intentions.
    SKW5431: Alright, I’d just like vectors back to land south RW 17L. I’m sorry, 17L, yeah.

    TOWER: SKW5431, if you're unable to do it, you can just stay at 7000, you can stay at your present altitude is fine. And if you wanna be able to continue left heading 290 and report RW 17R. Vectors for visual approach RW 17R.
    SKW5431: Alright, turn left heading 290, vectors for 17R, SKW5431.

    THE VALUE OF THIS VIDEO:
    THE MAIN VALUE IS EDUCATION. This reconstruction will be useful for actual or future air traffic controllers and pilots, people who plan to connect life with aviation, who like aviation. With help of this video reconstruction you’ll learn how to use radiotelephony rules, Aviation English language and general English language (for people whose native language is not English) in situation in flight, which was shown. THE MAIN REASON I DO THIS IS TO HELP PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND EVERY EMERGENCY SITUATION, EVERY WORD AND EVERY MOVE OF AIRCRAFT.
    SOURCES OF MATERIAL, LICENSES AND PERMISSIONS:
    Source of communications - www.liveatc.net/ (I have a permission (Letter) for commercial use of radio communications from LiveATC.net).
    Map, aerial pictures (License (ODbL) ©OpenStreetMap -www.openstreetmap.org/copyrig...) Permission for commercial use, royalty-free use.
    Radar screen (In new versions of videos) - Made by author.
    Text version of communication - Made by Author.
    Video editing - Made by author.
    HOW I DO VIDEOS:
    1) I monitor media, airspace, looking for any non-standard, emergency and interesting situation.
    2) I find communications of ATC unit for the period of time I need.
    3) I take only phrases between air traffic controller and selected flight.
    4) I find a flight path of selected aircraft.
    5) I make an animation (early couple of videos don’t have animation) of flight path and aircraft, where the aircraft goes on his route.
    6) When I edit video I put phrases of communications to specific points in video (in tandem with animation).
    7) Together with my comments (voice and text) I edit and make a reconstruction of emergency, non-standard and interesting situation in flight.

    This comment is for the pilot - I was impressed by your calm. I am continuously amazed at how pilots can remain so focused and steady during emergencies. I’d be thrilled to see you as the captain on my flight (if I can ever fly again 🦠) Nice work all of you.

    I think she did a good job. She obviously had a large work load with an engine failure and probably her first failure outside of training since most F/O's on CRJ are usually new with low time and the controller not listening when she gave a reason at the declaration of the emergency didn't help and I believe I heard him give the wrong frequencies when he handed her off to approach he gave a wrong frequency only to change on other transmissions. Aviate navigate communicate. Well done

    The only reason she’s not giving good read backs is because she’s busy running the QRH. You can hear her calming down as the emergency continues to develop and the workload settles down.

    Seriously a lot of sexist comments going on here. Just because she's female and sounds young doesn't mean she's A) A new FO, B) young, C) inexperienced, or D) an FO. Seriously, I know many older ladies who sounds just as young, who have thousands of hours under their belt, have many type ratings, and *gosh* even been a captain on a few of them.

      It´s pretty easy sitting on your sofa. Sitting at the pointy end with the emergency at hand, a lot of crew coordination going on etc it´s not trivial anymore. Good job!

    • @captainhammer9840
      @captainhammer9840 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      That’s because she’s flying the jet (with one engine), communicating with ATC, and backing up the captain who is running through the QRH (which has multiple items that require confirmation as a crew).
      Communication with ATC is of a lesser degree of importance and clearances can be clarified after higher priority tasks are completed. Aviate, navigate, communicate is the mantra they drill into pilots from day one. She did that.
      She did an excellent job by all appearances.

      @@flyingcaba5874 That's why you have 2 people on the flight deck. The capt'n controlling the aircraft and the other communicating and doing the checklists. I'm not saying it not stressful but a priority has to be given to communications. I'm not saying she wasn't doing her job

    Female pilot sounds rattled, her first emergency?

    • @jonesjones7057
      @jonesjones7057 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Maybe, but even after having experience with emergencies it is still a rattling experience mostly because it is so rare it upsets the typical flow of flight. There are so many checklists and things to be done to bring it back to land quickly, that it may appear the crew is rattled (and they likely are to an extent), but it's just busy. Lots of CYA to do to avoid the almost certain, "what you should have done..." lectures by the Monday morning crew.

      @wkelly3053 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Monitoring the flight path, extra checklists, communication with the passenger cabin, communication with ATC, managing time, possibly reprogramming the flight management system to return to the departure airport, and the subconscious energy used to progressively evaluate how well your plan is working under abnormal conditions. All things considered, the crew seems to have done well. BTW, can we ever get past the male/female thing? Stop, please?
