      Hi, just wondering, if I do in fact notice a very slight bend (makes a faint noise when it passes a certain point when I let the wheel turn while cleaning my scooter), is it important to fix it straight away to prevent further damage, or is it not that much of a problem and I can just let it be as it is if I don't feel comfortable doing the repair you suggested? 🧐🤷‍♀️
      Thanks in advance for your reply! :-)

      My boys back wheel is rubbing on his pure e scooter. Do you think it could be this bent brake issue.

    This helped so much! I hit my disc brake on a curb and it was dragging really badly. Used the marker trick and slowly bent it back out. Amazing!

    Just did this on my new Vsett 10+. Rotors were out 3mm on the rear & 1mm front as delivered (shipping movement). Your technique flattened the rear in 3 goes & the front in 1. Nutt brakes are silent, smooth & strong. Thanks!

      Awesome! The worst rotor damage I've ever seen was straight out of the box! Thankfully that one was a prototype, so they just hadn't worked out the best packing material for it. I gave the manufacturer feedback on that so they could improve the packing for production. -Paul

    That's a good tip especially due to the lack of peripheral protection of small diameter of the wheels. I've bent my rotor simply by placing my folded scooter inside my car and it fell over an leaned on the rotors. maybe I can figure some kind of attachment to protect them when traveling.

      I'd like to see thicker rotors on all scooters. The Wolf King has 3mm thick rotors and not only do they resist bending better than other rotors, the peak temperature they hit during sporty braking isn't as high, so braking feels more consistent. -Paul

    Aren't you contaminating the disk with the marker ? And pads as well ?

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It wipes off easily with brake cleaner or alcohol. Even if you don't wipe it off, it doesn't really affect the pads or rotor, since it's not a lubricant. Another way to go is that most rotors are going to have a space at the inner or outer edge where there is no pad contact at all. -Paul

  • @tom-uy2uc

    Would that give you a front wheel wobble if going at higher speed? If rotor rubs?

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unless it's happening when you apply the brakes I don't think a rotor is the cause. More likely you have a tire that's not fully seated on the wheel, possibly a tire that's just not that round to begin with, or a tire that's out of balance. I've been able to balance scooter wheels using motorcycle weights, but it's pretty hard to do on a wheel that has a motor, since you need the wheel to spin freely to find the light spot. -Paul

    Is there a chance of breaking the rotor?

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Fred,
      Steel is really good about bending, and being able to bend back without fracturing. It would take a severe, absolutely unstraightenable bend to cause it to crack when bent back. -Paul

    How do you fix squeaky breaks when breaking?

    • @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide
      @ESG-ElectricScooterGuide  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Often times straightening the rotor and aligning the brake caliper takes care of this.
      When that fails, a little brake cleaner on the rotors can help. Cleaning the pads can help, but that's a lot harder. In extreme cases, changing to different pads can help too. -Paul
