Great video. I feel like this is why as I got older I discontinued competing. I wanted my money for my future not a metal trophy anymore. I dont regret any of it but been there done that.

Not to mention that if you have a family, then you're pretty much asking them to have to deal with you being on prep almost the entire year and being insufferable by the end of it because you're 5% body fat and can't do anything that isn't part of your meal plan.
Here I was expecting to see something about the price in terms of health and lifespan... I suppose people just put it into the 'unknown future cost' category or the 'it won't happen to me' basket. The dollar cost can be added up and seen each year, but the future loss of years of healthy lifespan is a) unknown and b) not an immediate concern.

What young people really have to think about is whether it is worth it spending that amount of money on something that is not going to be financially lucrative even if they are the one in a hundred who gets that IFBB pro card. Those expenses do not go away. Only the elite get any significant sponsorship money and outside of the top few placers at the Olympia and the Arnold, the prize money is a pittance. Having to pay $100 just to register for a show when you are the show when you step on that stage is an absolute robbery and it should never go on.
You have to pay $400 plus dollar to participate in the only IFBB show in India called Sheru classic. This is what you call robbery 😢They just loot you
