I've never intentionally disposed of an eggsack, but I've had an awful lot of eggsacks that just never hatched despite my best efforts. Any eggsack that doesn't look promising from the outset, I'll crumble up into the tank after at most a week, those that look at least somewhat promising I leave for 2 to 4 weeks, any that look really promising I leave for up to 8 weeks just in case. But sometimes even the most promising looking eggsacks still don't work out. The worst cases though, are where I crumble up an eggsack and see that there were at least some snails inside, not many, but some, and if I had just timed correctly the crumbling of the eggsack they would have made it, but I waited too long and they died in the egg :( I crumbled up an eggsack just this very morning where half the eggsack was full of babies ready to go, and the other half was completely undeveloped. That always weirds me out. But the babies that were there were all still good and are now happily going about their business in their tank :) I would love for a video where you talk about your experience with how various different colors of snails fare. I feel like my ivories and magentas are much less robust than the jades and golds. I have no shortage of jades or jades with stripes or golds, they hatch out in big numbers and mostly survive to a ripe old age, but ivories and magentas seem to be few and far between, and a lot of those don't make it to adulthood. Those that do still seem to die much younger than the jades and golds. Not sure if that's just me or if others have similar observations? Perhaps different colored snails prefer slightly different water conditions to thrive? I just don't know. But some colors of snail are, in my experience, much harder to breed and keep alive than others. My local fish store sells magentas just as fast as I can deliver them, and for a while I had a good supply of them to deliver; but as their numbers started to thin out, I started keeping the remaining ones for future breeding, and I haven't been able to deliver a magenta for two months now. I recently lost two adult female magentas when they wandered out of the tank and fell to the floor :( I have a very elderly male magenta that is apparently too old to be interested in mating any more. I have maybe two or three small ones now, too small to breed as yet, and an adult one that suffered a minor cave-in on her shell that I have separated out until the damaged part rolls into her spiral (very close now!), but it has been a real challenge to keep and grow them! I've found the empty shells of several small ones which always makes me sad. Even found a tore apart shell of an adult one, I have no idea what happened to it as there is nothing in the tank that could cause the kind of damage observed, so that was pretty shocking, but I think it had been dead for a long time when I found it. The body and operculum were nowhere to be found, just the half-wrecked shell. A good sized shell too, prime of life sized. I just don't know what is happening to them that they struggle so badly, while jades and golds have no problem at all. It's very strange to me.
Hi Lav! Love your videos!! ❤ I’m a newish owner of mystery snails. I have a pair of white light foots (Pearl and Earl) and a younger beautiful chocolate colored one that hitched a ride as a baby on a plant I bought 3 moths ago and was a beautiful surprise addition. My white pair just laid their first clutch. How many mystery snails can you keep in a 20 gallon planted tank without crashing it, do you think? I used your recipe of agar snello and they love it, and it turned out perfect! Thank you! Can we use the crushed up unwanted clutches in our snello recipe? I have a feeling I’m going to have a lot of unwanted clutches. My male “Earl” is a horn dog. 😂
I hope everything is ok with you and your snails. I love your videos. I made the snell-o and mine loved it. Ive got mystery snails and 2 Peruvian giants. Keep making your videos if your heart wants to.
Thanks for this. I just had to move two mystery snails that were kept in separate tanks into the same tank so I could treat the other two for planaria and I'm pretty sure those two are making babies right now 😳
Girl I love all these videos I'm a new snaily Mom and I currently dont have room for 100s of extra babies if it comes to that. Thank you for this
It's good to have people tackle the difficult things! And offer guidance to others. Thank you. 💝
Thank you so much for this, just found a clutch in my tank and this was the only helpful video since I can’t keep that many!
I drop mine off at my neighbor's house while enjoying a cold beer.
True !♥️🤣

Thanks for sharing my new friend 👋

Great video Lav
Thank you!
Could you save a bag of frozen and crushed clutches to feed baby snails, kinda like a calcium source?
Yes! I actually have a "high calcium" snello video coming soon which utilizes the frozen clutches👍!
I was just looking for why my snails are laying so many eggs and now I see why yours lay that many you have like 10
Thanks, the guilt! This makes it easier. I've had these guys take over my tank and yes crash it!
I have been trying to have my mystery snails breed for a while but for some reason they have not made a clutch, videos like this make me sad 😔
Check your water quality
I can’t get my damn snails to stop making clutches. It’s nasty as hell. Lol
Y’all be getting rid of them and I need more
🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺
