The black haired guitarist playing Dean ML was between 4 to 5 months pregnant when this two hour concert was recorded. Japan has more kick-ass and bad-ass female rock musicians and all female hard rock and metal bands than any other country. You should check out another all female Japanese band called 'Nemophila'

Welcome to the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their five years of existence as a band, they set a standard that easily puts them on a par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels sent to save us, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. Whatever the description, I think one can say they have given metal a badly needed makeover and maybe a new lease on life. They have themselves said that part of their mission is to save heavy metal from darkness and obscurity. Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and soul of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the greatest European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other bands. The whole group then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she also trained in ballet). Miyako has composed most of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics.
They studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance is that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters.
This is one of their most recent posts. They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like a demon). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band." Welcome to LOVEBITES....they play heavy metal.....and they play it well, there are no bad songs, lyrics are great, these ladies are friggin awesome, all are multitalented, unfortunately the crowd at this concert were restricted to 50% capacity, had to stay in their seats and could only raise their hands, but the ladies still kicked ass, Holy War, Swan song with Chopin interlude are good choices, LOVEBITES are like NightWish, a dish best served.......LIVE, come down the rabbit hole that is LOVEBITES, you will enjoy
Haha if you like power/heavy/trash metal Lovebites is the way to go. The Ladies usually put on a 2h show same speeds like this. With 1-2 slower songs in the setlist otherwise the crowd would pass out :) oh and the back and forth guitar work on this level is kinda their trademark The M&M show is priceless. (Midori - blonde, Miyako dark hair) Someone said "It's not fair to other bands to have these 2 in one band. It should be illegal" 😂 A nother fun quote that fits them perfectly (though I think it's not related to Lovebites) "No matter what instrument you play, there is always a tiny Japanese lady who plays it better" Fits because Miyako is the tallest in the band with her height of 5'2 , Haruna on drums is only 4'9 . They were founded by Miho (bass) and Haruna who played together in a nother band earlier. (Unfortunately Miho is not with them anymore, so the band is on hiatus. But they promised to return.) Then there is Asami who captures the crowd on the 1st second. See what I did? Just told you all of their names. Hope you took notes 😂 What to listen to next? Anything from their 2019-2020-2021 live shows. They really shine live. What's my favorite song from them? The one I'm listening to atm. just take a moment to appreciate that what you just saw was a live performance with nothing tracked in or embellished. they are the best live band i've ever seen and let's put this into perspective. i saw jethro tull - one of my top bands of all time - 3 times in the early 70's along with countless others when i was in my 20's. a couple may have come close but the combination of insane talent , songwriting - yes they write all of their own music - and beauty all rolled into one seals the deal for me. just can't get enough and you can see why. don't stop now

LOVEBITES is active mainly in Japan / YK / EU and was canceled due to a pandemic, but a US tour was planned in 2020.
Almost all of them are petite and need to stand out on stage, so they deliberately chose feminine white outfits and high heels, but don't be fooled by their appearance. LOVEBITES is a wolf covered with sheep's skin, so it will be BITEed when approaching carelessness.
Do you have a source for that planned US tour that was cancelled in 2020? I didn't know they had one planned and would love to read that or know where you found that information.

Have you ever seen a band since Judas Priest with TWO top notch guitarist in the same band? Not many. These girls are phenomal. The vocalist too. Their bassist left in August but the remaining members said they would continue on, so don't be too disappointed. They have many more amazing songs like this, some heavy some lighter but all with amazing guitar solos.

I think I don't have to suggest you a next song 'cause I'm pretty sure Wolfpack have given you tons of suggestions. Take any of them, they don't have dull fillers. Yes, they aren't Baby Metal, they are Real Metal or I'd say Goddess Metal. Wolfpack will give you ample information on them as well. I tell you this much here. Someone said Lovebites is of four virtuosos and one genius. You'll find who's the genius. They, every each member composes their songs. They composed all the songs they play with a few exceptions of excellent cover songs. The dirk haired guitarist started self teaching guitar at her 18, and the other guitarist at 20 at a guitar school. They both were already playing in a top level bands in 5 years. Time doesn't mean much to real gifted musicians. Enjoy your odyssey of Lovebites. It's gonna be a long journey with full of wonders.

Great reaction to Lovebites. I highly recommend that you stick with their live performances for awhile before the music videos. There are other videos from this 2021 concert and their February 2020 concert. Not a bad one in the bunch. Ya'll should also check out Band-Maid again. On their TH-cam channel is a video with two songs, Manners and Black Hole, from a concert stream they did. Manners is in my personal top 10 songs of 2021. Last, listen to another Japanese band called Nemophila. They have a ton of original songs and covers on their TH-cam channel. I would suggest starting with their recent music video for the song Revive. Nemophila is primarily a metal band but they are pretty diverse. Enjoy!

You will not be disappointed with any Lovebites song or live performance. Miho, the bassist and founder member along with Haruna the drummer, has left Lovebites. Desperately disappointing but unlike when Yui, left BabyMetal, it was announced by Lovebites and Miho.

Holy war live, a straight power metal, more dragon force like, and Don't Bite the Dust, live from Vengeance tour galopping rhythm ala Maiden. Having said that, Break the Wall is the most Metallica you'd get from these girls
Please make sure to spell the word THRASH correctly. Without the H you get the word trash, which means garbage. THRASH is the correct word for the type of heavy metal they play.

Fingers crossed, we'll have an announcement of a new bassist soon! It has been awhile since I've seen you guys react to Japanese metal, so I don't remember which bands you've done, other than BABYMETAL. If you haven't looked into them yet, you should also check out Nemophila and BAND-MAID. Together with Lovebites, they make up the trifecta of elite, virtuosic Japanese female hard rock and metal bands (and are pretty elite among metal bands, period). There are many other incredible Japanese bands, of course, but these are the three that you're most likely to come across, as they target Western Audiences more than most of their countrymen; in fact BAND-MAID is getting ready to embark on a 2022 US tour!)
Nemophila have twin guitars in Saki and Hazuki, who rival Midori and Miyako. BAND-MAID has a more standard one lead, one rhythm guitar setup, and they lean more toward hard rock than metal, but their lead guitarist is a match for all of the above! Bass and drums and vocals for both bands also rival Lovebites! Here are a few suggestions for those bands (I'll leave the Lovebites suggestions to the rest of the posters). Lovebites rock. Nemophila, and Band Maid are all incredible bands. These bands are all female bands that are not only incredible musicians, but also composers. Lovebites try their songs: Break the wall, Edge of the world. Nemophila try songs: Revive, Raitei. Band Maid try song Onset.

it is all from the first origin Blues, then Rock and Roll and it took off from there. If these are the minds of the future in this country we are in big trouble, educate yourselves with music so you can understand where it all came from. Do any of your listed bands play heavy metal? Because L'ar Ciel doesn't either. I haven't looked at the others. Those bands all compete with Band Maid who doesn't play heavy metal either. (I am not a fan of Band Maid for that reason). But Lovebites is the best thrash/powermetal band playing right now. THAT is what I find to be the most interesting for my tastes. None of those bands are heavy enough.
