nah - the movie tried way too hard to be apologetic to the orcs. The first war wasn't grey - it was extremely black and white. Trying to make people feel bad for warmongers is what hurt this movie so much

They've cut everything they could that didn't have a direct connection to a story, it's always character and world building pieces that get cut first in situations like that. It's clear that it was made because of mandate to make movie run time under 2 hours, the edits were dazzlingly fast. Not a director's fault, clearly it was executives

They could have left Callan out and swapped him with Lothar's men being caught out by Medivh failing and being slaughtered by Blackhand.
Deleted scenes has 1.5m views. This shows that up until this day the ones who watched this movie still cares for a sequel. Bring it to us! The highest grossing game adaptation film of all time deserves a sequel!

There were three important events in Warcraft 1: The death of Medivh, the murder of King Llane by Garona and the subsequent fall of Stormwind, and Orgrim Doomhammer usurping Blackhand's seat as Warchief. Medivh's death is displayed, though they missed Garona's part due to her not being presented as Gul'dan's mind-controlled Assassin, and Khadgar didn't get artificially aged. Llane's murder comes on the battlefield on the offense instead of inside his castle on the defense, and is Llane's idea to get Garona in with the Orcs to try and influence them from the inside, instead of a Mind-Control-Induced betrayal, but it still happens. The fall of Stormwind however, does not. Blackhand is killed by Lothar instead of Orgrim, but it sets up for the might-have-been sequel to have Orgrim potentially seize power due to Gul'dan's exposure by Durotan's sacrifice, and Orgrim speaking up against him. This is absolutely meant to *be* Warcraft 1, not lead into it.
"WoW" is the MMO. They butchered the real stories in this medium. Just "WarCraft" is enough. The offline trilogy should be enough when talking about lores.
I have a shameless love of this film. Durotan punching the blackrock orc right in the sternum is the best thing I've seen in a long time. All the orc scenes in this film were gorgeous. I really hope we will get Tides of Darkness soon.
I have no shame in loving this film. It wasn't perfect but something about seeing the World of Warcraft on the big screen....there's no words that could describe that feeling.
I enjoyed it, but the divergences from the games' lore hurt it in my eyes. I fully acknowledge that's MY problem though. I remember hearing that the opening moves really quickly, and people had trouble following, but at the same time, I felt just as lost watching Lord of the Rings for the first time having never read any of the books. Unfortunately though, the movie really, *really* didn't do well. Certainly not well enough for anyone to be willing to make a sequel. Speaking as a Warcraft fan, I say with some certainty that we're never gonna see an official sequel to this. To be honest, trying to do it as a movie was the biggest mistake. Too much happened in the First War to squeeze it all into 2 or even 3 hours. Even this condensed, altered version had a lot of trouble squeezing it all it, and even then left out the end, where Stormwind ultimately loses and Lothar leads the refugees across the sea.
Most of these scenes feel like they would have enhanced the viewing experience and built the world on a another level. The orcs and their camps in outland and all the stuff in the Tavern were so cool!
@@AD-cc7bj reduction hinder the ability to tell good story. We didn't experience vanilla WoW in 2days so why should we condence years of story telling down to just below 2 hours.....an extra 400 minutes would have been bonkers!
I love the dark scar scene it really shows Durutan's character as a whole. He is gentle and doesn't mindlessly kill, but can still fight. It's not that he can't fight he doesn't want to
I can't understand why is this a thing?! Any of the scenes here could had help the movie imensibley, let it breath between conflicts, build the characters up, etc.

The filler slots are for movies up to two hours, and so for a movie to be wide released they may have to edit down the length in order to fill such a filler slot. Otherwise the movie won't be wide released. A famous example is the release of LOTR, which theaters deemed would flop. That's why the first edit of it was so confusnig and seemed to miss several scenes. The other case is when the direction worries about the pacing of the film and story.

the warcraft fandom is so great that it only losses to the wikipedia, even through from what i know the first game wasn´t so big, it was expanded by books, comics and even the game itself, if they make a live-action adaptation again, it would be better if they remake everithing and make a series instead.

But that might make it compelling storytelling which makes it harder for the executives to ruin it. Also you can't put product placements in the warcraft universe or appeal to the Chinese since it would be banned there due to their rules(no magic, demons or undeads).
This movie should've been done in two parts to properly introduce the characters, build up their stories a bit, then progress into the war against the Horde in the second part
So much content. Didn’t even mention the Night Elves. We caught a glimpse of the Dranaei. I’m pretty sure we saw a couple of humans from the kingdom of Lorderan. I mean, goodness-from the Scourage, to the Emerald Dream and the Fel in Ashenvale, and so much more.
Watching this, my heart soared. I need to re-watch this movie again, seeing all the places that I frequent in game makes me so happy. And they should've never ever cut Chris Metzen! :)
That camp fire scene was pretty good. In fact a lot of the orc scenes were really good. Scenes like this better explain what is happening for people who are not well versed in warcraft lore and setting and all and they are packed with easter eggs for fans with humor both can appreciate. The movie needed more of this. I liked the movie and my wife was very confused, after I explained a bit and we rewatched it she ended up liking it more but there was definitely room for improvement here. We may never see a sequel but if we do hopefully they learn from this first one and give us more orcs or at least humans with the same depth of personality

I just realised how Durotan beating the ork with so much ease despite being clearly physically weaker is a perfect showing of how flawed the other orks’ idea of strength is They think that because Gul’dan can make their muscles bigger than before they’ll become unstoppable, yet they just watched an ork half the size of another absolute wreck his opponent without effort.
If this video is supposed to be a Universal's survey, then yes, MAKE A SEQUEL! About Thrall, Arthas, or an entirely different timeline, I don't mind. Just DO IT! :)

During the council of the kingdoms I find it weird that the table only has 8 sides when there are 9 kingdoms in total. There are 7 human kingdoms, plus the elven kingdom of Quel'Thalas and the dwarven kingdom of Khaz Modan. At 7:56 you can see that there is one empty side, but the dwarves are not yet seated, so that's probably for them. You have the Stormwind representatives on one side, with Llane, his wife and one more guy. Sitting opposite from them you have the Lordaeron representatives at 7:58. The guy who is speaking doesn't look or sound like Terenas, so they're probably just emissaries. To their left there are the elves of Quel'Thalas. Their spokesman could be Anasterian Sunstrider himself, but I'm not sure. The dwarfen spokesman looks like Magni Bronzebeard, especially because of the crown. At 8:07, next to Llane's wife, you can see a guy with the Gilneas sigil on his chest. On the other side of the Stormwind representatives, those people look like mages, so they're probably from Dalaran. The people at 8:41 snickering about the elves could be either from Kul Tiras, Alterac or Stormgarde, since I don't see a sigil, but judging by their appearance, they're probably seamen from Kul Tiras.
I've never played WoW and knew little about it but I really enjoyed this film and wouldn't have minded if it was longer. I'm surprised they don't do a sequel; it would make a change from the endless superhero movies.
Very unlikely a sequel will be made. It bombed hard in the States' box office. Did well in China though. Perhaps they would make a sequel if not for the big falling out they had with Blizzard this year.
Its funny that, quite literally, tens of millions of Warcraft fans have sunk countless hours into the game series over years and years with each new installment, not even including the staggering amount of time that players put into WoW, and yet.. some studio dope thought they'd better cut the movie short or audiences might not stick around. Utterly mind boggling misread of the audience.
2 Hours was not enough time to really get to know the cast, the Orcs where amazing, the Guardian was pretty awesome too. Would like to see more movies soon, drop the crappy Fast and the Furious movies, they burned out after #4
We need a 2nd movie, or preferably, a netflix/TV series to cover all of the storylines. Warcraft 1 and 2 are the weakest parts of the warcraft story. Everybody Wants Arthas, Grom's redemption, Sylvanas and the fall of Quel'thalas, and many other storylines onto the big screen!

One of the greatest points of the critics were, that the humans were portraied poorly, while the orcs got interesting screen time with a lot of cultural background. I don't think that the final movie had "too much" of humans. To be fair, I think it had too little of both sides, but otherwise it would have been a 3-hour-movie.

Most of the "non fans" reviews i've seen, people liked it, but complained about how poorly things were explained, and how they'd be willing to sit through half an hour or more if that meant more development on both sides.
@@Andreabay90 Night Elves didn't appear in Warcraft 1 and 2. They were not present on Azeroth (Eastern Kingdoms) at the time of the movie, as humans have not found Kalimdor yet. Night Elves would have made absolutely no sense here. Night Elves have their first contact with orcs (and humans) in Warcraft 3. Not showing Night Elves in the movie was perfectly fine.
A missed opportunity. It would have been hilarious if Ogrimm asked Helscream: "And what did you have to give for this power?" 🤨 Helscream: "Hmm,🤔 I forgot to ask. Probably nothing.😌"

I feel like I watched a different cut, because the Boomstick, the King and Queen Balcony scene, and Lothar mourning was DEFINITELY in the version I watched.

The empty bar scene feels like one that definitely should have been in the final cut (age rating allowing of course), it plays so well into lothar’s realisation upon seeing the dagger in his kings neck
They just choose to tell the wrong story. I get what they were trying to do, they were planning more than just one movie, but people are not familiar with the events of Warcraft 1 and 2. If they went with the story of Warcraft 3, I am fairly certain that movie would be much more liked.
Can’t believe you cut scenes of Grommash Hellscream. He is the strongest and most iconic Warcraft Orc warrior in the lore with a huge fanbase. Please give him a big role in the sequel with badass action scenes and dialogues.
Grommash only exist with WarII extension and only have a role in War III. For the original story of the warcraft universe, he is just a nameless big grunt of the invasion who don"t play any role. He is a figure for the War III generation of player, but Orgrim Doomhammer is a much more important character in the Horde.

The looks and feels may have been on point, but they messed up the story and rushed too many events. This could easily been 2-3 movies instead of one.
the warcraft fandom is so great that it only losses to the wikipedia, even through from what i know the first game wasn´t so big, it was expanded by books, comics and even the game itself, if they make a live-action adaptation again, it would be better if they remake everithing and make a series instead.

OKAY! I have an ENTIRE new appreciation for Blackhand, the Stormwind City nightscape is GORGEOUS, Chris Metzen's full Trade District scene SLEW ME 😂, and the bar scene with Anduin Lothar & Garona was messed up in all the best ways. *chef's kiss*

But that might make it compelling storytelling which makes it harder for the executives to ruin it. Also you can't put product placements in the warcraft universe or appeal to the Chinese since it would be banned there due to their rules(no magic, demons or undeads).
This is one of the most underrated movies. It deserves fame and recognition like its video game.

So much content. Didn’t even mention the Night Elves. We caught a glimpse of the Dranaei. I’m pretty sure we saw a couple of humans from the kingdom of Lorderan.
I mean, goodness-from the Scourage, to the Emerald Dream and the Fel in Ashenvale, and so much more.
Watching this, my heart soared. I need to re-watch this movie again, seeing all the places that I frequent in game makes me so happy. And they should've never ever cut Chris Metzen! :)

That camp fire scene was pretty good. In fact a lot of the orc scenes were really good. Scenes like this better explain what is happening for people who are not well versed in warcraft lore and setting and all and they are packed with easter eggs for fans with humor both can appreciate. The movie needed more of this. I liked the movie and my wife was very confused, after I explained a bit and we rewatched it she ended up liking it more but there was definitely room for improvement here. We may never see a sequel but if we do hopefully they learn from this first one and give us more orcs or at least humans with the same depth of personality

They should've started with the War Of The Ancients trilogy. Would've been the ultimate of prequels/sequels movies.
I hope after a fiew movies, they will show the prequel aka the war of the ancients, that was my favorite. I even painted some of the iconic battles

Even in the deleted scenes it's clear they loved their Orcs and treated them with so much respect and made them more human that the actual Humans
It needed to be this way and is a big reason why the lore of wow is so good! Who can truly choose which side is right? They both, in their eyes, are fighting for their people. It could have been so much better.

I just realised how Durotan beating the ork with so much ease despite being clearly physically weaker is a perfect showing of how flawed the other orks’ idea of strength is
They think that because Gul’dan can make their muscles bigger than before they’ll become unstoppable, yet they just watched an ork half the size of another absolute wreck his opponent without effort.
If this video is supposed to be a Universal's survey, then yes, MAKE A SEQUEL! About Thrall, Arthas, or an entirely different timeline, I don't mind. Just DO IT! :)

During the council of the kingdoms I find it weird that the table only has 8 sides when there are 9 kingdoms in total. There are 7 human kingdoms, plus the elven kingdom of Quel'Thalas and the dwarven kingdom of Khaz Modan. At 7:56 you can see that there is one empty side, but the dwarves are not yet seated, so that's probably for them. You have the Stormwind representatives on one side, with Llane, his wife and one more guy. Sitting opposite from them you have the Lordaeron representatives at 7:58. The guy who is speaking doesn't look or sound like Terenas, so they're probably just emissaries. To their left there are the elves of Quel'Thalas. Their spokesman could be Anasterian Sunstrider himself, but I'm not sure. The dwarfen spokesman looks like Magni Bronzebeard, especially because of the crown. At 8:07, next to Llane's wife, you can see a guy with the Gilneas sigil on his chest. On the other side of the Stormwind representatives, those people look like mages, so they're probably from Dalaran. The people at 8:41 snickering about the elves could be either from Kul Tiras, Alterac or Stormgarde, since I don't see a sigil, but judging by their appearance, they're probably seamen from Kul Tiras.
I've never played WoW and knew little about it but I really enjoyed this film and wouldn't have minded if it was longer. I'm surprised they don't do a sequel; it would make a change from the endless superhero movies.

We need a 2nd movie, or preferably, a netflix/TV series to cover all of the storylines. Warcraft 1 and 2 are the weakest parts of the warcraft story.
Everybody Wants Arthas, Grom's redemption, Sylvanas and the fall of Quel'thalas, and many other storylines onto the big screen!

One of the greatest points of the critics were, that the humans were portraied poorly, while the orcs got interesting screen time with a lot of cultural background.
I don't think that the final movie had "too much" of humans. To be fair, I think it had too little of both sides, but otherwise it would have been a 3-hour-movie.

Most of the "non fans" reviews i've seen, people liked it, but complained about how poorly things were explained, and how they'd be willing to sit through half an hour or more if that meant more development on both sides.

@@Andreabay90 Night Elves didn't appear in Warcraft 1 and 2. They were not present on Azeroth (Eastern Kingdoms) at the time of the movie, as humans have not found Kalimdor yet.
Night Elves would have made absolutely no sense here.

Not showing Night Elves in the movie was perfectly fine.

She has no warcraft experience but the story of the movie was enough to catch her. Many of my friends and I love the movie, too. Ecen though they changed parts of the lore here and there.

Wow Blackhand was just too well rendered and VERY well played to cut out any of his scenes.
The empty bar scene feels like one that definitely should have been in the final cut (age rating allowing of course), it plays so well into lothar’s realisation upon seeing the dagger in his kings neck

They just choose to tell the wrong story. I get what they were trying to do, they were planning more than just one movie, but people are not familiar with the events of Warcraft 1 and 2.
If they went with the story of Warcraft 3, I am fairly certain that movie would be much more liked.

Grommash only exist with WarII extension and only have a role in War III. For the original story of the warcraft universe, he is just a nameless big grunt of the invasion who don"t play any role. He is a figure for the War III generation of player, but Orgrim Doomhammer is a much more important character in the Horde.
