I do certainly enjoy the 2011 anime, but I do have to acknowledge that in a lot of area’s especially when it comes to the feel of the anime, it’s older sibling knocks it out of the park. There’s this amazing mix of childhood wonder and real world grit that just sucks you into this setting and these character’s story. Also I feel it better reflects Gon himself, Gon is at once, both endearing and terrifying when you really get into his head, admittedly the older anime never got into those more terrifying scenes where you get to see just how twisted Gon can be, but still taking those scenes into account, how hard is it really to imagine those scenes in this anime’s style?)

Ging still haven't in Dark Continent. Because the clue "he doing baka thing" when the time Gon hearing the tape and scene change showing Ging rides those monsters. He goes there when Gon already lost nen ability after Chimera Ant arc and Election arc.

Ging nen ability probably allowed him to know when and where gon activated the recording so when he knew he flied away which means he was probably somewhere close😅

And the tape i think is a pretty easy trick with nen, specially with a user of his level, it is just a manipulation command left in the tape, probably maintained and reinforce by the nen script in the box it was stored. Remember that just because the categories exist, doesnt mean advanced users cant go around limitations.
I think Ging used the pregnancy stone from greed island to leave Gon behind for Mito. That is his mom, he gets it, Ging knows if he's a hunter he'll figure it out that it never mattered who his mom was, Ging was selfish and left her behind to be a hunter but gave her a gift to remember him by once he found what he was looking for, which is just the journey rather than any one destination. That's why Departure is so perfect as a theme song, it reminds of wind waker when you leave grandma behind from outset island, whale island is just the same thing. Gotta leave mom behind to become your own man, but always come back to her.
Because he doesn't know how to face Gon lol. It indicates that he feels sorry to Gon for abandoning him. Because Ging pursue his desire than take care of Gon. He feels better to avoid him because of the guilt. He even confessed he is bad/ horrible person.

very disappointed with the 2011 remake, this scene with a harmonica in the background was so pleasing to watch and hear but they didn't make it like that anymore
I respect Gon’s decision not to hear her voice ! It’s better to have a guardian like aunt Mito who selflessly raised him than having selfish parents who abandoned their child for their own dreams. He shouldn’t even have heard Ging’s tape also!
