Never seen such a sloppier crew. Literally dumping thousands of dollars worth of fish over the side because they aren't taking the time to do this right. If I was the captain/owner, I would be pissed.
Boat held 160,000lbs. Bunker are around 10c a pound so no, not "thousands of dollars". This is the way it was done for a long time. Are you a purse seinging fisherman...?
@@saltygenes I am and we can clean all but around 5 bushel barrel then we roll them over side. Nice set though. No matter what you do someone is going to criticize you.
Good point. Even with cheap fish there is no reason for wanton waste. Those fish are dead, take them to the processor. If you took the time to catch them, the packer crew should make sure you get paid for each one. During the off season in Alaska we used our 110' crab boat for packing salmon and herring, if my guys had been this sloppy they never would have fished again. And who uses brailers? Fish pumps and suction systems are the only way to go, less damage to the fish, much faster and virtually zero waste. Just because "we always did it that way" is no reason not to improve . . .
