    I've been in japanese waters, crossing many times the Shimonoseki strait, the inner sea etc. All around the islands those fishermen in those sleek, fast boats were mindless of sea traffic: they just put the throttle full ahead and you had to blow the whistle like crazy to tell them to watch around!!!

I was biting my nails hoping for a good outcome, but they all knew what they were doing, even though to me, it looked a bit dangerous at times. However, I am no expert, and in she went without drama. There are several ways of launching a vessel of that size, and that is obviously one of them. Although personally I think that if they are going to continue using a set up like that, I would maybe add another axle, on a little longer carriage, with a braking system set up so that it can be used to both steer, and stop it, yet still be able to be tilted at the seawall for launching. Great job, and I like the hull shape, with the added reserve buoyancy built into it. That is a great looking little sea boat. (You should add a link to the builder, or hull make/model).

  • @scottpecora371
    @scottpecora371 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    To all you experts out there full of criticism you probably want to take a few things into account. Look at the terrain, 50ft/20m away they've got a rock cliff or hill side to contend with. So turning the boat doesn't appear to be an option. Next, that's not a boat ramp but a road they're temporarily blocking. Look on the other side of the boat, it's a narrow road that winds along the bay at waters edge. That area is normally chained off and they've pulled the posts to launch the boat. They obviously chose high tide. The steel skid that swivels indicates this isn't their first launching. Although given the confines with the building and the obviously over loaded boat carriage this is likely one of the larger or largest boats they've launched, thus the reason for the video. Also they clearly appeared to be at the limit of their ability to control the boat easily, let alone at all plus you look around the harbor and this boat towers over the other fishing boats. Given the circumstances they did good. Yes the front keel scraped on the skid plate a bit, it wasn't the cement. Probably ran out of grease, but no significant damage and no one was hurt. There has been more than one huge professional ship building firm that have screwed the pouch during a launch. Beautiful boats guys!

    • @Paddington60
      @Paddington60 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@alext9067 I and some friends have been thinking about the rudder and its apparent tab. If we could see up inside the hull, I think there would be a linkage to turn the "tab" in the appropriate direction. The link from the hull being a rod, that rod running in a tube on the tab.
      I tried looking at the website mentioned by the Poster but that is an angling site not the boat builder.
      An interesting arrangement however it works. Could be just the tab is used at higher speed or the tab give greater rudder effect at slow speed. The stern thruster would perhaps suggest the former rather than the latter.
