Yesterday at Mobile World Congress, Niantic CEO John Hanke briefly mentioned that Niantic has 3 more "major content releases" planned for Pokémon GO this year. Those updates could include legendaries, gen 3 Pokémon, global events, weather effects, breeding, trading, PvP battles, and even a completely reworked gym battle system. Let's talk about what we know is coming for sure, and what could be coming down the line.

Its the little things that Nick does (Like talking Spanish and having a English voice over of himself) is what really brings the appeal to his videos. Even if he changed to a mix content youtuber, its the little things like that, which makes him enjoyable to watch.

Every month they should clear all the gyms because I can't beat a level 10 gym with 3000+ Pokémon when I'm level 24. I'm instinct and all the gyms around are mystic or valor!

Spoofing doesn't affect your gameplay in anyway apart from gyms. Also since i live in an urban area i don't need to spoof but if i was a rural player with barely any gyms, pokestops or pokemon spawning i 100% would spoof, it would piss me off seeing everyone else getting amazing spawns while i only get rattatas so i udnerstand why some people spoof.
Yea but i dont care much about the gameplay because it is subpar. What spoofing did is completely destroy the experience. What i loved about the game is me going to a well known place with my friends and there actually been ppl there playing the game. At first i gave the benefit of the doubt and thought that people just completed most of the pokedex or got bored of the game cause of lack of content but even when second gen came out i went to my local places that used to be pack with ppl and they are completely empty. I miss the first 1 and a half/2 months when spoofing wasnt a thing :(

I'm assuming the 3rd major update will be some type of storyline or objectives and then they could even pair that with events around the world especially cause story line is huge in the main game and one of the biggest critics of Pokemon go is lack of storyline and depth it's just a collecting game it would also get people to play for longer periods and solve the issue of people can't play during the colder months and it would add that community aspect back to the game through giving each other advice on how to do the story line

I'm much rather see the tracker and spawning/variety for rural players fixed than see a storyline rural players can't take part in. Making the game better for all players should be the major releases, not making the game better for people who live in New York.

I figured by now there would be some kind of "incentive" for being in rural areas. Just maybe having Pokestops that are distanced from other pokestops having a higher drop rate of evolution items. The parks Nick goes to has atleast 10 stops whereas mine has one, with no walkways, or lighting for at night. Just something, even small, would be nice to be able to match up or keep up with people in the cities.

Jess Indeed, but as far as lore goes, it's very likely that Instinct won because LT. Surge is the only one who is still around. Just speculation though.
Pinotion gaming well, really, just because Surge wears yellow, doesn't mean he's Instinct... it means he's an electric trainer.... I feel he fits more as a Valor, especially since he's so proud of the strength of his Raichu.... Ash would be closer to Instinct (despite wearing Red and Blue) because he trusts his Pokémon more personally
i hope we would get 4th "group".. either it's kinda "neutral" or "villainous".. i mean that this 4th group either doesn't compete or then it has change to "sabotage" other 3 groups (like team rocket or other such group from maingames/anime)

What I wanna know is why in my neighborhood did niantic decide to take out all of our like 15 pokestops and 2 gyms? I noticed a month or 2 back they did this. I don't play as much because quite a bit of my hunting consisted of longboarding through my neighborhood. Now that the stops and 2 gyms are gone barely any pokemon spawn. They need to make more pokemon spawn in neighborhoods and bring some pokestops and a gym or 2. It was fun fighting my friends in the 2 gyms that were in my neighborhood.
Josh the stores(or whatever they are) were probably tired of seeing a bunch of kids hanging out loitering around and requested their spot to be removed

The Walking Potato cps are horrible their aids, they don't even tell us their speed attack defense etc. If it was like the old game it would be easier. For example competition pvp would be 50 lev max, so the gyms should be lev 50 max. More people played the old game so it's easier and stop being so salty like holy, it's a pokemon game
And then release a DS version.
I think one of the major updates will be something related to the candies because of the "save your candies" tip. Maybe the possibility to spend candies to change the moves.
For the others i think a major rework of the environment with the weather effects implemented and the Hoenn region's pokemon.

How about different type of Pokeballs ? I think they should introduce all the "new" pokeballs that came along with the Jhoto League episodes

I think two teams like Ingress would make it easier to balance it out on a global scale...Try to make it near 50/50.

Something I would love to happen is a worldwide competition. My idea is that you could have an option on your account where you can create a new profile. Any profiles you make once the competition starts count if you decide to enter. The winner is the first to reach 250 pokedex entries or more depending on if gen 3 is released. The winner could win something... That is up to Niantic.
I have anther crazy idea. Gen Go. These Pokemon are brand new Pokemon exclusive to Pokemon Go.

Here's hoping for TMs! Not to interfere with egg moves, which I loved in the main games. Just a mechanism to give you a chance at a different charge or quick move from the one you were unfortunate to roll.
I want a poképhotography "game". Where I can take pictures with the pokemon in their various poses. There isn't any way to take pictures with baby pokemon. I think that could be good content. Kinda like Pokemon Amie.

Everyone unconsciously make a different voice when speaking a foreign language, but your Spanish voice is outstanding Nick.
Anyway, I think we should tone down the hype. Weather and environmental effects should definitely count as a major update given the massive amount of new data it will add to the mix. I'd wager legendaries and quests could also count as a major update, the background work necessary for such events can be far higher than expected. Add to that gen 3, and we have a plausible PoGo roadmap for 2017.
I would also prefer move rerolling and getting rid of CP, but honestly, I think Niantic will steer clear from the mechanical intricacies of the main games. It's called Go for a reason.
My theory on trading is that they will add it soon in a really small capacity. And as the year goes on they will update it periodically until it is a full solution.

As a 30 something renter I've known that for a long time. The only way I would purchase a house is when I have kids, otherwise housing is an expense, not an investment, and my capital is better allocated to real investments.

I would estimate gen 3 coming out around Christmas.
We are not getting legendaries just yet. The way certain Pokémon like Dragonite, Gyrados, Snorlax, Lapras, the Eeveeloutions and a few others are severely overpowered, Legendaries would have charge moves stronger than 200 DPS and CPs above 5000. The entire gaming system would have to be reworked from scratch.

Most the legendaries won't even be too much over 3000cp (for those that even break 3000). And 200dps? That's honestly the dumbest thing ever. They would be able to take a maxed out blissey in less than 10seconds. Cmon now

Second of all only ones as powerful as mew would even break 4000cp. Third of all, 200dps!? WTAF, thats complete crap and I don't think you understand how any of this works.
Antonio Brooks you do know data miners have found the legendaries stats and movesets in the game codes right? Of all the gen 1 legendaries, only mewtwo is stronger than dragonite. And Ho-Oh is the only gen 2 legendary that is stronger than dragonite. And as for their moves, they have the same moves that pokemon already have and do the same damage amount.
To all of you idiots replying to my comment... duh I made those numbers. I know exactly how stats work in this game. I know legendaries would never have CPs and charge moves that high, it was an exaggeration of how strong they'd be if they were to be released now. Get your heads out of your asses for a minute and actually think. If a regular gym can hold, let's say, an Snorlax with a CP of 3200... it wouldn't be far fetched to assume let's say, Mewtwo would be over 4000 just because of its status even with low IVs and the same would apply to the Legendary Birds of both Gen 1 and Gen 2 as well as the Legendary Beasts of Gen 2. I was not trying to give an exact figure, just a general exaggeration of how powerful they would be. We all know even weaker legendaries would still be insanely strong so it's not far fetched to assume the more popular and powerful ones would have ridiculously high CPs/HPs and have completely new quick and charge moves that deal a lot DPS

What would be cool is if they add your house, like actual house location as a thing. And that thing would be the hide outs like in Emerald and Ruby, where you could make hidden houses in trees or hidden rock passages, etc. and decorate them with stuff.

Played all 3. Sadly COD is still the most fun shooter. A lot of that is due to the levelling / rewards systems for continued playing. Battlefield 1 and overwatch are seriously lacking in that department.
I have an idea about the developers should fix as well.. first of all the HACKERS because as a player is really annoying the fact you can't play and dominate a gym and somebody is kicking your ass from home, its freaking annoying and frustrated .

what you're looking for is "passive". they each have a "passive" ability along with their moves and happen automatically based on which pokemon.

I believe it would be too big of an attraction for normally honest players to create multiple accounts and trade to themselves. I just don't know how it could be reasonably controlled. Plus, I'd rather just stick to my own effort and to the spirit of the game and grind it out.
Randell S. Hynes there is a work around and that is every pokemon has allot of unique identifiers so an error or somthing to block someone from having more than 1 or 2 of the same pokemon.
I think it would actually be pretty easy. Let us have friends lists and only trade with those once every 24 Hours or something. Sure, it would suck too, but that way you couldn't really abuse it...
More importantly, the character in the time of day slides is May, further hinting towards gen 3 (though I cant believe we are talking about that already), aswell as your partner actually being by your side.

I just moved too, congrats on the upgrade. The place I moved to has a fountain in the middle of the lake. I want this to be a pokestop but I checked ingress and there is not one there. I feel like this fountain qualifies. Any new news on influencing your surrounding pokestops? maybe open $÷*!!÷ maps?

Sorry if this was already said, but static works differently than you said. It has nothing to do with the physical/special split and is about whether or not a move is a "contact" move.
i dont think gen 3 will come this year. it is way too soon. if niantic is looking at long term profits for their company, they should release generations yearly or else they will lose their player base. players will lose interest because it will be too overwhelming due to too many pokemons in the wild and their is no way for players to complete their old genration pokedex.
i think their major change will be allowing players to choose which generation they want to play. i know a lot of people stopped playing when gen 2 was released - because unfamiliarity to the pokemons.
That's a stupid reason to stop playing. If it's too overwhelming then just ignore those pokemon.
