I'm very biome confused 😂 I'm not near the beach, not even a lake, yet I found a small local area that happened to contain BOAT STORAGE which has the beach biome. 🤷🏼♀️
Honestly i like that. Not everyone lives near actual beaches so like micro biomes around the POIs is cool. Wish ghosts were around cemeteries and they and dark only came out at night
@@eduardosolistinoco9698 I’ve checked out every community lake in my town and none of them are a “beach” biome. A larger lake with fishing 1/2 hour from town has just one small section considered a beach biome. Even going to the coast it is hit or miss whether you find a beach biome.
I was at Beverly Hills, by a country club and it thought I was near water and got beach background. And it also happened when I wss going down Sunset Blvd by UCLA I got beach biome too
That's so sick that you have the opportunity to check out all the biomes so close to home. Ain't going to get to experience all of them for a while living in good ol Indiana haha
I live in Colorado. This will be interesting, hopefully I find wiglett 🥲. Oh and also love ice and steel types, need find the time to go to mountain and what pokemon it is.
I've also noticed that since I play later in the day, it's cool to see the pokemon look darker colored and as the sun rises, they can also look brighter. Like a litwick flame changing color. That was a nice visual. My first shiny of this new update was wimpod.
Always think a video like this wouldve been good when they started doing 'biome' spawns with the change to each season, but i suppose it was difficult given its hard to tell when youre in a specific biome. Perfect to do it now then!
I get why they're focusing on the Kanto region with their release of the redesign of the world in-game, it's to make the game feel like when the game first came out
The Wiglett jokes 😆 I do like the back grounds/biomes and the renewed world look. Also, so close with the challenge! I do think it's in the works and might get refined a bit more throughout the times as well.
It's so much fun seeing you out exploring! Seeing S2 here also makes me feel nostalgic. Running after e.g. a Staryu is also somthing I haven't seen in a while. All in all very refreshing :) That certain other update wasn't good, but the biomes update is nice! Still some room for improvement, but it's a good addition. Around me I think I have "city", "plaines" and something like "park" maybe, but I`m sure I could find a few more with some exploration :)
solid quality of life update. Looking forward to seeing what they can keep doing to expand it and tie it to more real world nature, biomes, and experiences
Something you and Adam should do is an analysis on the different regionals appearing for different people. My roommate and I both play and we also work int he same building so we are basically playing together constantly, and occasionally, we'll get a spawn that is different between our accounts. the pokemon will be the same level and have the same ivs but will be 2 different things. This has been super rare, maybe happened 4 times in as many years (or at least that we notice it). in the past 3 days, it's happened with basically every regional pokemon we've seen. Durant, Carnivine, Illumise, Lunatone, oricorio, Taurus, etc are all different for us. Since we first noticed it, we've seen it happen dozens of times. Some have tlaked about it on silph road, but it's hard to tell if this is intentional or a bug. personally, i think this is a good thing and hope it sticks around because i've seen a ton of regionals i don't normally see here, and that may translate into people who travel being able to get better chances at regionals when they go to new areas, though without published spawn rates, it's hard to tell if it's better/worse.
I hope it's intentional. I only just got an Android I can play PoGo on and my bf and I see the same thing when we play together. It's very fun to trade.
I mean bioms being all over kinda good for me, cause the closest beach is about 5-600 kms from here so maybe it spawns one for me with a wiglett in it :D
I grew up in Irvine and worked in Long Beach (hi, Queen Mary!) before moving to New Orleans in 2021. It was so nice seeing you travel through the biomes in my old stomping grounds. I miss Back Bay. I'm still trying to find great places to play in NOLA. Beach biomes are surprisingly sparse. I'll head up to Lake Ponchartrain today to search. Wish me Wiglett luck!
That was pretty mechanic heavy video. I dont know about most of it, very cool :) And yes, some animations are beautiful, my personal champion is sunset litwick, such colors 🤩
I've been playing for years since the start and just kinda stopped. I have no idea why. I just finally got bored of it, I guess. But I love the new updates, still being updated after 7 years. :) I might go for a walk with the game this Saturday. It is getting warmer here in Canada.😊
Really enjoyed this video, watching you explore and decipher how the game is functioning i.e. what is causing the different biomes. This is what i enjoyed the most about your original videos, where i learnt loads from you about how the game works and how to get the most from it. Nice one
S2 cells is how niantic does biomes in monster hunter now. In that game you can see the biomes in the overworld. Also the autumn foreground looks better than the spring one
Pokemon almost definitely are determined by the biome of the s2 their spawn point is in, buuuut there is an area around the spaen point it can show up in. So you can see the water types from a beach outside of its s2 cell
Overall I'm impressed with the visual but it does put more strains on my already one foot into the grave older phone lol so it now lags super hard just being outdoors (althought to be fair that's just typical SEA humid-hot sometimes rain weather all year round). I do hope they improve like what Nick suggested in this video. side note, I love seeing Nick enjoying researching the borders of biomes. feels like we're back to 4-5 years ago
I’m in the mid-Atlantic US and saw a Jynx in a city biome today. I really like the catch screen backgrounds. I’m not sold on the over world map. I like the horizon stuff, but the constantly shifting cloud shadows and increased textures are negatively impacting how easily I see spawns on the map. It’s so cluttered. I’d rather have a clean over world and fancy catch screen.
Ok, so i just came up with the rarest normal pokémon. Imagine you catch a hundo Wiglett in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Their coastline is like 20 kilometers.
I do like the fresh look of the catch screens. I hope that the spike in battery I am seeing it just do to me leaving the game open longer to look around but It seems to be a battery hog.
We've had biomes for a little while. I live right by/on lower side of hills and there is one biome that shows water (right on the hill 😆). I do really like how the pokemon affect the foreground things like plants etc. I had a cute Clefairy half hiding behind a big rock and a Spoink that crushed flowers 😆
Been playing a year ago and quit. But i can say the pokemon in our area is accurate. Water types really showed up along the rivers and oceanparks. Domestics like Meowth, Growlithe etc really show up in Dog and themed parks
I definitely want more of a biome dependent spawns. We have events all the time to get other Pokémon. it would make some of the obscure raid Pokémon actually important.
For me, I'm getting most of those backgrounds every time I cath a mon at my house I live in Oregon but all around me are houses. So sometimes I see the lake in the background, others the pine trees, and other the city so I'm assuming they're still changing randomly maybe in the future it will stick to one if they decide to fix it but either way I love the new backgrounds
I think it could be S17 cells? I am very close to the border of two biomes, and all 3 spawn points that I've noted would be within the same s16 cell - but if it's by s17, one of the spawn points *could* be far enough into the neighboring s17 cell and it's a pine forest biome rather than a deciduous trees biome.
Love the update, just think biomes need to be more apparent on the map + more biomes. I hope the biome spawns are just being tested with Kanto mons and it'll eventually be with every spawn. Just walking around to see what's around is extremely fun. Edit: Gofest habitsts would be awesome if they have their own backgrounds
Good thing the fixed the extremely laggy catch screen. I hated the game during the extreme catching event because of the lag when trying to throw the pokeballs.
I live pretty far from the coast. It’s probably going to take a long time for me to get any Wiglett. Around where I live we only have forest and field-like biomes. My country doesn’t have any mountains. I’m not going to see many different biomes I’m afraid. The backgrounds are pretty though. I quite like this update.
Thank you Nick for this very informative video. Congrats on completing the challenge (almost there). Learnt about S2 cells today. Would be good to know the mechanics of the Route feature (Zygard cells). Do you think that the Route feature is linked with the S2 cells?
I live in a UK town on top of a hill, its landlocked and hundreds of miles from the sea, all the backgrounds are the same 😂 lots of cherry trees and weird looking small bushes. 😂
same to all of that except we have one biome on the hills that shows water! It might be because there are old quarries in the hills and one of them does have some water. But the 'water biome' is nowhere near that bit
This is the most trainer tips video I've seen in a long time.
professor doesnt want you to see him after the avatar update 🤣🤣🤣
Also he doesn't want to see you after your avatar update (or mine) :D
@@udajs The hands!
he already is ugly to begin with
I was on a cruise when the update came out. I had grass backgrounds in the middle of the ocean.
lol
Pure water biome definitely should be a thing. I think they will add more biomes later. I prefer it this way- slow release instead of many bugs.
I had the same thing when I was out on a boat.
I agree you should be catching on pure water and they could put the beach in the background
@@antoniodittman5820 I my scenario it is not a micro biome but a bad cell. It will not spawn Wiglett 😕
On my University there's a pool, enough to qualify most of the campus as a lake It seems, but haven't seen any wigglet

Yeah I live in Indy as well and I got the water biome just being around a small body of water

It’s been a while since I was this excited for an update ! It’s soooo dope! Looks so good, a map update was waaaaaay overdue!
Honestly I want graveyard backgrounds, volcano background in Hawaii, cave backgrounds, and yes desert backgrounds.
This video was so old school Trainer tips, talking about cells... Loved the nerdiness and love the new update :)

Only Kanto Pokemon are influenced
@5k1nny ohhhhh ya I totally forgot that was a thing. My bad dad joke is even worse now 🤣
Been a while since the S2 Cells have been dug out for a video, that's more nostalgic to me than the Kanto spawns honestly.
😂 true
Pretty good update, it’s nice to have different backgrounds in the encounter screen

This video is so reminiscent of the early days of trainer tips when you were teaching us how to play. I really enjoyed this video.
I like the evening and night catch effects. Also the cloudy shadows moving over the overhead map.
It seems like to me you get what you were gonna get but they throw in a few biome Pokemon for the spawns
I like how it changes at night .......... It looks so good
I like that there are different coastal zones. Cliffs and more tropical is what I've seen so far.
Also, Wiglett is out, did't know what was out yet.

Saw Wigglet yesterday on the only day I will be by a beach for ages - but I was working and couldn't abandon my work/clients to chase pokemon.
Surprisingly, I didn't find Wiglett in the beach biome. It showed up as my daily spawn twice. I guess I was somewhat coastal since I was in Jamaica.
I haven’t thought very hard about s2 cells since EX raids dried up years ago. Thanks for the in depth look at biome mechanics!!

About a year ago i had the thought that biomes didnt matter anymore. It was basically event spawns everywhere. This is a welcome change
except the biomes spawns doesn't seem to work
So that's what the catch screen looks like when it doesn't lag like crazy?
Yep, it really slows down sometimes when clicking on a pokemon.
Put refresh rate on, makes it so smooth

Speaking of family, when will we see your relatives like Chance and Dante Basco?
Like always, great vid, great info. I hope to get wiglet soon. Maybe be released in eggs, so people who dont live near a beach can catch Wiglet too
