Hi, Can you help me with this question, please? 2008 ML350, M272 Engine, W164, I was replacing the Cam Adjuster when the chain jumped and I had to take the timing cover off to time the chain. I have to take both lower and upper oil pans out to put the cover back on. I did take out the lower pan but to remove the UPPER pan it looks like I need to lift the engine, My question is: To lift the engine, is it removing the engine mount bolts, Torque convertor bolts, and unbutton the engine from the trans or is there something else to it? Does the transmission neeeds support when lifting the engine? Thank you for your time.
@@Smudg To remove the engine only, you only need to remove the 2 bolts that fasten the engine to the engine mount. After that, you can just remove the transmission to engine bolts. You won’t need to worry about the torque converter because it will be bolted to the engine when you pull the engine. Another option. If you have help, you could also pull the entire assembly from the front of the vehicle. Engine plus transmission. This way you won’t have to fight the transmission to get the engine back in later. The only downside is that you will likely have to remove your radiator and front grille to make room to pull the entire assembly out. No, the transmission does not need support. There is a bracket that supports the transmission and transfer case assembly. I hope this helps.
@@Mikeoscope Thank you, I am trying to raise the engine enough to remove the upper oil pan. Do I still need to remove the transmission to engine bolts and support the transmission?
@@Smudg Not according to Mercedes Benz. You will only be removing the bottom bolts that the go from the transmission to the upper oil pan and the rest of the bolts will be intact so the transmission will still be supported by whatever is supporting the engine. Placing additional support underneath the transmission would not hurt but not necessary.
@@Mikeoscope I am very thankfull for your time. All I need now is find a engine lift bar that fits the width of the ML350, everything available is 59 to 59", which I think would fit but tight!!
Hi, i have a m272 2.5 and the cooling fan is on hight since starting the car, I already change the coolant sensor, ambient sensor and about to change the coolant level sensor since for this one i have a warning, any ideas to fix this..?
@@gilbertoracer Hi, Have you had any issues that can potentially cause overheating? What I happens is, ECM logs the last overheating or high coolant temperature incident and turns the fan on at high speed the next time you turn the key to proactively protect the engine. So what issue did you have before that happened?
How much is mileage of the car? I have m272 3500cc with camshaft position sensor problem, but no engine light, i hope only replace the sensor
@@mydc2200 About 150K miles.

Hi, no that i know of. The fan its on at high speeds even when the car is cold. After i turn the engine of fan is off.
@@gilbertoracer also is your AC working okay? You’ve got an issue related to a circuit or system in which the fan is part of.
Nice Video this video is great.
