Wow on my 19 Forester Touring the front passengers get the IIHS Safety plus award, but the rear seats only get a Marginal. Hopefully the redesigned 25 Forester will get a Top Safety award for ALL passengers

the fact most vehicles with seatbelt pretensioners and load limiters both in the front and back perform better, shows how effective and important these systems are, i hope every manufacturer takes action quickly. fitting these systems doesn't require any change to the car's structure therefore it's a easy add-on but it could safe a lot of lives.
mazda already did this with the 2023 cx-5. the 2021 cx-5 got a poor rating, but without changing anything related to the car's structure or design, they added pretensioners and load-limiters to the rear seats and now it gets a good rating
Seeing how much the rear seat back moved without any stress on it is worrying. If someone is sat in the middle and wearing their seat belt, the strain on the rear seat mechanism would be far greater - would it hold the individual safely?
Ok so is no one else asking why the lazy IIHS has not done this in crash tests before? I just hate how they are acting in this video like its the most REVOLUTIONARY thing to test safety for rear passengers, as that is where children are suppose to ride until they are old enough to not be injured by the passenger airbag. What a bunch of idiots.
@@Pepsicola48 the reason is the regulations changed, this is an old video with the original regulations. with these old regulations the rav4 got an acceptable rating, but with the new regulations it got a marginal
It's time to make the foreign companies pay higher taxes and start reserving and making our jobs in America better retirements and good benefits and good pay an hour for American brands I think the Jeep Renegade did way better than his foreign cars anyways

An observation I've had , of all the vehicles that scored poorly , None of these have rear pre tensioner seat belts .
Are you blind? They obviously do, but ik the iihs is over or underracting every time never a fair result.
