Same here for that second statement. Definitely my favorite ost in video game history I'm still in disbelief on how he was able to make the music sound that good.
The years is 1996, you're riding with your monkey significant other and your rhino buddy on a blue hot air ballon through lava caverns while this masterpiece plays out. Not a worry in the world...except the ballon is drooping on lava. Then everything wents dark and a ballon pops above
It's funny, just as this is uploaded inwas listening to another favorite "liminal" game track (Ratchet & Clank 3 sewers). This is a Christmas gift, Hot Head Bop is one of the best. Seems the bubbling is a bit clearer this time? Sligtly more "tribal" vibe this time too. Thank you for covering it again!
Sam, any plans to ever look at Rise of the Robots? The game itself was universally panned for bad gameplay, but its soundtrack is just unbelievable. It's like a solid early-90s techno/breakbeat compilation CD; it feels more at home in a DJ mix than a videogame. Among the SNES soundtracks, I'd put it somewhere in my personal top-5 alongside the first two DKC games and Super Castlevania IV.
Got this game on SNES for Christmas 28 years ago. Still one of the best games and OSTs ever made.

The best sensation, better than an orgasm
Sonic, Mario, DK, Street Fighter.
These 90's games will never be surpassed.
Love how clearly you can hear all the little details, like the sludgy bubbling of the lava in this, truly a beautiful piece
Sounds unreal gorgeous. Thank you for your hard work restoring these songs!
Beautiful work Sam, sounds extremely good.
just need to pile on, and add that this sounds in-freaking-CREDIBLE. Beautiful upload , thank you!

Everyone gangster till the melodica kicks in
I always felt bad trading in my animals for material goods
Hours of sitting with the game on pause.
Or the secret juke box mode if you keep on pressing down on the controller when on the selection screen for a 1 or 2 player game

I am left wondering why DKC for the Wii didn't use this in the lava levels.
good!
