Instant time machine back to Christmas of 1995 when I got this as a 13 year old. Staying up late on break from school navigating yet another Donkey Kong game with not a care in the world. Those 1st two games were so great. Music and memories of my childhood. Miss those days.
i wasnt even on the world! but its nice to see that this Legendary Game has so much fans like you!
I got this game and Yoshis Island that Christmas. It was one of my favorites for sure.
Call your parents guys, show them some love, not sure why I'm saying this but I miss them while listening to this
1:10 this is where the song gets so damn beautiful.... especially at 1:28, makes me cry sometimes...
When memories of a childhood long behind us come racing forward faster than we can hold back the tears. I feel ya man.
David Wise was/is, in my opinion, the John Williams of SNES music. Whereas John Williams' scores are intended, quite often, for the entire family to enjoy (such as Star Wars), his scores do lean towards the mature adventure side of the musical spectrum, if that makes sense.
Wise's music is the exact same thing as William's, except that it is aimed at children and adolescents. It perfectly conveys a child's sense of wonder and adventure in the various settings we can see in this game and others he has scored, without losing any atmosphere or anything. In fact, environments are just as well experienced as if they were scored by film composers for films containing similar locations.
Wise's music stands alone, unique, yet in the same league as Williams
Random guy on the internet who loves music, I gotta agree. DCK2 is the magnum opus example to your comparison, the feeling he's able to convey through 16-bit sound is nothing short of stupendous.
No one composes music like this by age demographic. It sounds like you’re applying the “gamer brain” obsession of your favorite series “not being for kids” and applying it to this music in a way that makes no sense. There is nothing inherently “mature” about William’s compositions and nothing inherently “childish” about Wise’s. He’s an amazing composer but what the fuck are you talking about lmao.
Nothing like how most lava levels sounds these days, really shows off the majestic side to volcanoes, usually seen only as threatening and omnious.
True, while Mario games give you the "lava WILL kill you" vibes, this game shows that "while lava is lethal, it's also part of nature."
One thing I've always really liked about this track is how groovy the drums are. They're usually not something I notice much in music but in this song its hard to miss them.
Man, I love the work you're doing on these tracks, and how you interact with the community to take feedback to heart even though you're already putting in so much work. This is another great restoration, it makes me feel that sense of wonder of the days when I was a bright-eyed 10 year-old playing DKC2 for the first time all over again.
Much love, please keep up the good work!
the donkey kong country 2d platforms are easily the greatest platformers ever made, they blow all of the mario and sonic games out of the water
Dab dab yes but Donkey Kong country 1, 2 and 3 completely destroys any sonic game in my opinion
Couldn't agree more DKC 2 in my opinion is the best in the series.
Honestly I've never said this before but I feel like it's justified. You're doing god's work
Honestly, I've never said this before; but I feel like it's justified: You're doing God's work.
I couldn’t agree more sir, I have dabbled with overkill chip tune quality in the past, very pleased people are presenting its potential to the TH-cam viewing public.
these 15 minute versions are perfect for someone with ADHD like me who spend 13 minutes subconsciously vibing but still get 2 minutes of dedicated appreciation
Right there with you, but I’ve actually started working towards a one hour extended version standard for songs to loop literally all day.
Like me also. I used to let the Kong kiddos do their waiting animations forever just to listen to the tracks as a 90s kid. Deep nostalgia in every single one of these tracks.
I love how in most games, lava based stages have dramatic or evil sounding music, yet here, its all calm, like its an easy area and lava barely hurts you.
I tend to hate volcano levels, but Donkey Kong Country 2 is the only game where I can enjoy the level, not just for the music, but the whole feeling of progress and challenge.
Childhood restoration, thanks to you and whoever else was involved in these restorations. And of course most importantly David Wise.
There is honestly not one bad soundtrack in the DKC franchise.
@@cyberia1998 Stilt Village on SNES slaps, what are you talking about
I think Stilt Village would be a decent standalone composition, but it doesn't match the adventuring atmosphere of the levels, the game, or the platforming genre.@@farisakhtar4824
I used to consider Mining Melancholy, Jungle Hijinx and Stickerbush Symphony as my most favorite tracks in the series, but honestly I think Hot Head Bop is just an entirely different beast. The instruments that kick in at around 1:10 is just got DAMN.
This song BANGS. First time playing this level the other day and it felt like I stumbled across gold
DKC2 is one of the best games ever made
Normally I think of low bit sounds as an instrument on their own. I always found HQ songs in remakes a bit blasé, and yet hearing this it just sounds a bit better. They're the same instruments, but a higher quality sound.
I think that's WHY these work so perfectly. They aren't just the songs you loved made with modern instruments. They are made with the original instruments but in better quality. I get turned off by remakes of classic songs because by their nature they can't hit the same soundscape.
That's exactly why these are so brilliant. Not remakes, literally just the same songs with the same samples, except in higher quality.
Honestly Donkey Kong Country, music being uncompressed only makes it even better, mainly because of how talented David Wise, is.
Just from the random gameplay clips. I thought.. This might be one of the best platformers ever made. I would have no problem with this being one of the few video games I let my future kids experience. Just imagine.
I consider DKC2 one of my "top 3" best platformers. Top 3 because I don't think it's fair to compare it directly to Super Mario World or Mega Man 2 since the actual gameplay is so different
The SNES soundchip still blows me away
I was there for a while when you were making this one. It's amazing, and I'm reminded every time I hear it that this is a very underrated track. It's downright beautiful.
Should probably add (extended version) in title so people don't get confused
As a kid I kept falling in the lava and getting frustrated because I wanted to listen to this song. Those crocodile heads were hard to aim for. At one point I decided to just stay still and enjoy the music.
6:59 lol, bet that was frustrating.
Una de las mejores canciones de los videojuegos para mi..bravo esa época de 16 bits.que nostalgia
esas cansiones jamas van ha morir es bueno que gente de nuestra epoca siga escuchando esta joya como haorita puro peso pluma
There is something oddly comforting about the music in the first 2 DKC games that I can't really explain
Never noticed how much this song reminds me of "Teardrop" by Massive Attack
Honestly one of my Favorite pieces of Music ever Made and the Restoration was done so well, keep going Mate
this has been my jam while i rebuild hot head hop in halo infinite
The soundtrack of this game is on another level. ❤
I'm starting to believe DKC's music was MADE to evoke nostalgia
Was waiting for this one in particular for very long, is great
one of the best games ever made not only because the amazing adventure of boyfriend and girlfriend but the beautiful music that contours it
Madonna "Keep it Together"
Definitely one of my favorites. Come to think of it, most of my favorites are in DKC2. The only one I really care for in 3 is the machine levels music. Thanks as always Sam.
The original composers need to be given an award for these timeless classics
i can hear "the sound " uo woap " from crocs
Some of the best music to listen to while working---- these soundtracks are awesome ---brilliant
David Wise is Gold
Well soundtack of my childhood thy name is Super Nintendo!
You did damn good work!
Hyped for the full MSU1 hack! Great work
The SNES was capable of so much.
90s Rareware soundtracks fcking SLAPPED🎶
Fyi, this song is missing in the Playlist it belongs in, on your channel.
Aside from that, you are doing amazing things brother! 😎👍
This is rhe best soundtrack for a video game ever you can hear the bubbles and are part of the soundtrack not the game is soo well done
Se que es música para un juego de changuitos pero la música más chingona de todos los tiempos.
Great! Though, forgive me, there might be a mistake at 1:41. I think, if I’m not mistaken, the notes on the background plucking are meant to go D B D E D G# D B instead of D B D E D G D B
Just found your channel. You are doing some amazing work my friend.
I love this song, thanks for making it sparkle.
Que melodia mais linda top e sensacional parabéns pelo trabalho lindo fantástico
Props for actually playing Fiery Furnace for this video. That's the hardest level in the game.
@@CMSonYT yeah I don't agree it's the worst (in the sense of most difficult).
The Bass on this song is Amazing imho essentially this Bass is why this is a Bop
The piano riff really just hits different in this one.
Yeah, it sounds like it's in an empty room. Sounds worse than in the game, somehow.
Hot Head-Hop / Red Hot-Ride / Fiery Furnace!
i dont understand, why is a laval level with monkeys riding a giant spider so damn melancholic. These guys delivered above and beyond than what they were supposed to. like somehow they wanted to demonstrate their talent no matter what topic they were covering
I'm listening to this while I'm at the volcano dungeon in Stardew Valley.
You ever notice that the sign with the 🚫 on squitter is actually an ant, and not a spider? It has a head, a thorax, and an abdomen, where spiders only have a head and abdomen.
Goosebumps all over.
The quality is insane :)
what a gem
full of memories...
Top e sensacional ficou ótimo parabéns
Best song ever 👍
0:28 Anyone else think the melody sounds a bit like the Alphaville song "Big in Japan"?
Man thanks for everything

Juliano juju só quem já jogou sabe né pessoal o tanto que ė top e se jogo né pra mim é dos melhores jogos que eu já joguei
This channel slaps so fucking hard
If this gets into another DK game, I know the instruments would be:
Bass guitar
Drums
Synthesizer
Electric guitar
Sitar
Piano
This sounds like the Tremonti song Trust 😂 look it up
So many memories..
why does the percussion always have so much reverb in this restorations
I just over-reverberated it. Might do a 2023 mix because there are a few wrong samples in this. The download link always has the most updated version though
Ufff this for work is sooooo good
Perfection.
Man, such brilliance

Love ya man👏👏👏🥂👍!!!!
I love your work
That's it, I'm subscribing
another killer track yo!!
I remember refusing to finish the stage just because I don't wanna stop the song. So goood
My mom used to get mad for just turning the game on and leaving Diddy idle at a level start just to listen to the background music. "If you're not playing that stupid game, turn the TV off" she used to say to me.
@@ktvindicare Sorry to say..your mom had bad taste in music :(
@@diah7130 I don't think she ever understood that I was actually listening to the music, and at that age it's not like I was able to really explain myself very well even if it seems so simple now.
