I was saddened to learn the revival choreographer of this wondrous ballet passed away recently. He had researched to steps for years and also designed the costumes and decor. Brilliant work.
@@mrlopez-pz7pu I own a video of him being interviewed with Zakarova and also Filin. He discusses the laborious process in recreating this ballet. He had to comb through many library notation collections as well as seek out long retired dancers who still remembered the original choreography. I suggest you consider investing in the DVD of the ballet with Zakarova and Filin...and there is a lengthy Lacotte documentary included. His recreations are treasurable as are those of Nureyev and others.
What a pleasure this is to watch. I thought after having seen others in this role I would find Osipova ill suited, but I was wrong. She is a revelation; her footwork and precision, plus that glorious jump are a joy to behold. And Gudanov is a treat to see. Thank you for posting this.
I love how obvious that Lacotte choreographed this ballet. There's just so many footwork yet both of them manage without wobbles. Osipova is heaven on this one. Thanks for sharing
Гуданов хорош, техничен, даже безупречен, но Наташенька танцует . настолько естественно, как будто родилась в пуантах и проще простого так двигаться. Брависсимо!
Why am I the only one who seems to be noticing this GHASTLY arrangement of the music? 🤮 Unfortunately Osipova's performances as Aspicia coincided with a strange period in the stage life Lacotte's version of The Pharaoh's Daughter - for whatever reason, the powers-that-be at the Bolshoi in the mid-to-late 2000's decided to commission a new arrangement of Pugni's score, which up until then was presented in its more or less original orchestration. In this clip one can hear a portion of the absolutely horrific, saccharine drenched arrangement of the music that, fortunately, the Bolshoi quickly dropped due to complaints from dancers and audiences. Pugni's original orchestration was reinstated in the early 2010's with all of its 19th century flash, pizzazz, melodiousness, and rhythmic verve.
Изумительно, моя любтиая балерина!!!

Yes RIP to Pierre Lacotte....but he most certainly did not research the steps "for years", if hardly at all.

Thanks for your great comment! It's a pleasure. :)
Странно, что такой ход как у Гуданова на 0,16 сек никто больше не повторял. Отлично же получилось
I don't think this partnership would have worked well in the longer run, but it is lovely to see some new old footage of Dima! Thank you!
It's a pleasure!
