I love your videos. Good insights and great playing. But I have a question; when did the Anthology Please Please Me uptempo version with Andy White on drums happen? The Sept 4 session was supposedly when the song was still Roy Orbison Only the Lonely, style, and on the Nov sessions, they played 18 takes until they nailed the song. Was Andy still called in for that session? Did he play a couple of takes and then Ringo took over?
Thanks for the question! It seems the schedule went like this: Sept 4 - Beatles rehearse PPM (slow Orbison version). George Martin suggests they speed it up. Sept 11 - Beatles take last hour of session with Andy White to record PPM (Anthology version) but it's still not quite finished. Nov 26 - Please Please Me, with Ringo, is recorded.
I find it bizarre that "Love Me Do" has more than 3X as many streams on Spotify as "Please Please Me" (as of this comment it's 154 million for "Love Me Do" and only 42 million for "Please Please Me") - it seems obvious to me that "Please Please Me" is a far superior song. My guess is this is because "Love Me Do" is the first track on The Beatles One collection? (and "Please Please Me" isn't on it at all as you mentioned it only went to #2) - do a lot of people actually think "Love Me Do" is better than "Please Please Me"? I don't get it.

@@thebeatlesquarantinecatalo8694 Thank you! You've just solved a puzzling Beatles mystery.

That wasn't written by the Everly Brothers...
Cathy's Clown was, which inspired the melody in Please Please Me. Did you watch the video or just read the description.
