    I bought a fanny pack that perfectly converts to shoulder use, at the 5.11 store, gray blue color, just fits a 4” 1911 with extra pockets. Perfect gray man look 👁

      @nordicbritprepper 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I also did the same, they work great as shoulder bags. When riding my bike i find fanny packs are not comfy. But shoulder sling that thing and you have a great extra space and less stuff in the pockets.

    I'm so glad you talk about how your EDC is always evolving. Yours is a high standard so its comforting to know that yours gets tweaked too. I'm constantly tweaking my EDC and loving the changes and how much more functional it becomes each time.

    The organisation and order of your preparedness is the strength behind of all your systems. Simple approach, so you know where to go to get what you need, with multi-use and inbuilt redundancies.
    Superb, thank you! Oh and I gotta get me some Manhattan pouches 🤗!

      Yep, this seems a reoccurring theme for his videos 🤔- Just when you think you have thought of it all, watched 100 videos. Cliff comes along, and no one can beat his attention to details.

    Love that Fisher Space Pen. Like those pouches. A recommendation would be to wrap a foot or two of 1" Gorilla brand duct tape around your BIC lighter. It can be used for a variety of repairs, bandaid, bandage cover in a pinch, and as tinder. You can place a small tag of mason line or other small string such as bankline on bottom to make a loop before taping which would give you a versatile means of securing. Another thought would be to tape a sail needle and/or a smaller needle to it or on one of your credit cards. Needles would be useful for other things as well, but mainly for splinter removal. Lastly, in your optional gear you might want to carry a bandana (bandage and whole host of things, a silcock key (to access water), a water bottle/container of some kind, and, even before the corona, a filter mask of some kind to block dust. If you do a lot of walking, moleskin and some medicines, a few pills of Advil, and Benadryl in your first-aid kit. I am definitely going to have to get one of those phone cases. A phone charger of some kind that lets you charge your phone would also be good. I usually have a cap and a small stick of sunscreen wherever I go. Thanks. I would swap out your awesome Benchmade and your Squirt for ONE Leatherman Rebar or Skeletool, but do like my Kershaw Blur. And, I am getting older and like a credit-card sized magnification device in my wallet so I can see small things.

    My current EDC: front left pocket -- Victorinox Trekker and Zebra PM-701 stainless steel permanent marker. Front right pocket -- keychain with Milspin door opener (hangs outside pocket), 4 keys, Acme slimline Tornado whistle, Nite Ize Doohickey multitool; slim billfold for cash and a few papers; RFID-proof card holder. Front left cargo pocket; Google LG Fenix. Shirt pocket or hanging on front of shirt -- reading glasses and/or sunglasses. Everything else goes into the backpack.

    A tool might be 'TSA Compliant', but if you're flying international the tool might not pass inspection in another country. I don't care to donate any of my Leathermen tools. You go through TSA going over, but coming back it's that countries people doing the inspection.

    • @JasonStPierre
      @JasonStPierre 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yup TSA compliance is only defined by the IQ and attitude of the TSA goom.

    • @Al-sf3dw
      @Al-sf3dw 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I would not carry any type of tool onto a plane. Not even a TSA Friendly tool. Tools and my Victorinox Cadet go into my luggage. I always hope they are still in my luggage when I reach my destination.
      I have a leatherman brewser and my keys in a orbit key. I would probably take that on the plane.

    • @johanbertilsson2213
      @johanbertilsson2213 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes TSA compliant only works in the USA, i lost my first Leatherman Style PS on Arlanda, Stockolm 2018 when i was flying too Tallin. Because the file looked like a knife and could be threatening.I said that it was TSA complaiant, the answer i got was that i was in Sweden and not in USA. But the funniest thing was that i have forgot that in my wallet rested a Victorinox Swisscard with a real knife ant that passed throu xray and security without problem.

    I bought one of those RFID-blocking card-holder minimalist wallets, and I wasn't sure how much I'd like it. A year later, I can't live without it! It slips perfectly in a pouch on my EDC shoulder bag.
    You're probably tired of people saying "why aren't you EDC-ing guns?" I mean, there are plenty of prepper channels talking about guns, you're talking about plenty of things people who don't have easy access to firearms are able to buy easily. I'd say 80% of my prepper items are bought on your recommendations!
    I got the Vertx Gamut 2.0 on your recommendation, and currently it's transporting my Mavic Mini drone. Awesome bag! It might become my EDC bag, but we'll see. The drone is cool too!

    I carry a key chain, the top has the belt hook, the car/bus keys, a Coghlans whistle with compass and magnifying glass, a true utility firelight and a kiss of life. The bottom part inside my pocket has my main keys, Victorinox Fieldmaster and tic tool. In my wallet i have one of those cheap cardtool (free gift from my outdoor store), a glasses tool, a card with duct tape and wipes (alcohol and cleaning). In my shirt pocket a tactical pen and bandaids. In my jacket a lot more stuff.

    THE EDC FANNY PACK. YES!! 👊 I started using one because of you (I wear mine like a crossbody sling haha!) and it's been so useful to have quick access to all my stuff without having to reach into a backpack. Definitely gonna look into getting some kind of clean key as well. Thank you for the update!! 👌

    I love your lists. I am a grandma and also carry a little food in my edc/purse. I have dried fruit, small sticks of jerky, and 3 halloween-size mini packs of peanut m&m's, which are useful in canada as they have survived in my car supplies for months in temperatures from 30C to -30C. Other items i carry not mentioned in your list include sunglasses that go over my prescription glasses, a tiny container of anti-bac, some advil, a small roll of Tums, a small pack of tissue, 2 tea-light candles. In winter i add a hand warmer, in summer I put in small containers of sunscreen and bug repellent. This actually fits in an over the shoulder purse no larger than a waist pack.

    Thank you, Sir! Great video, as usual. I must say, I do appreciate the level of organization to your kits and your videos. Many times I have printed your pdfs to compare to my own kits and have often tweaked my kits to include something or other that you mentioned. This time it's the dressings in the billfold. I too, carry the older style of wallet in my back pocket and the photo/card carrier separately in my front pocket with just my debit card id/ccw and any folding money. Works well for me and leaves plenty of room for gear in the wallet.

    Here’s a little tip. Take a rubber band and wrap it around the base of the red button on the lighter. It will keep the butane from leaking. It would suck being in situation where you need to make a fire and your lighter is empty.
    I won’t do the fanny pack lol. I have put together a small sling bag to carry if I’m going to be somewhere for an extended period of time and has some useful gear in it. But usually I wear cargo pants to carry my basic edc stuff in. I am interested in that ferriday bag though! I didn’t know about them!

    I stumbled across this video and am glad that I did. I really enjoyed this video and like your Three tiered approach towards EDC items. I learned several useful tips, which I’ve never seen discussed in other EDC videos I’ve seen. For example, the brass tool which you used to open the bathroom door is brilliant, and I like how you described some tools as being TSA friendly. That’s very useful info. Anyway, very nice job on putting together this informative and interesting video on your approach towards EDC. Nice job!...Ed

    Personally I find keychains annoying and takes too much space in my pockets so i've got something like "KeySmart" (but from Aliexpress) to fold most of my keys (unfortunately my car keys can't fit in) also they are always clipped to my belt, that way they just fall in place straight in my pocket, easier to reach them, more space to grab and put back my phone, less clutter in the bottom of my pocket.

    I love your videos, there's so much great info. There are two items I've never seen you include, which I wonder about. One, when you showed the paper map of Seattle in your messenger bag, I realized I've never seen you mention a compass. Phones have them of course, but a paper map is backup if the phone's down, so a backup compass might be good. The second item is some kind of compact binocular or telescope. Very handy to have if you see something that, well, you want to see better. Thanks again for the great videos!

    I've been a subscriber to your channel since 2011. I've learned a lot, and while I make some different choices, our basic principles are similar. All that being said, let's go beyond gear and talk more strategically. Here we are in the middle of a pandemic, mass unemployment, climTe-relared problems (fires, hurricanes, etc) and a long-overdue and contentious reckoning with racial injustice. How will we know when the S is really about to HTF? I live in hurricane country, and I know the difference that 3 day's warning can make. When do we do that level of SHTF preps in terms of social unrest? In my state, guys are carrying firearms on the state capitol steps to demand re-opening. In my 67 years I've never seen the like. So I don't think I'm being paranoid. Let's have that dialog: when do we drop normal life and get ready for real trouble, just like we'd do for an impending storm or wildfire?

      Here in Seattle, protesters have been assaulted by the police and white nationalists. This use to be a city where promoting civil liberties was a safe thing to do, but so many outsiders have moved here to work at Amazon and suddenly saying BLM will get you tear gassed. It's sad, and it's difficult to prep for what a crazy country this has become.

    For tier 1, I would also carry a cheap travel bag on me folded like a socks roll or fold. Most of the men should adapt to this plastic ban regulations. By replacing it with pillow case or cheap travel bag its far more better than carrying a tote bag, but modify them to make a waist strap its far more effective.

    Looks good :) ... way more stuff on you then i have, but like you said, each situation differs. Some things surely are the same though (besides the normy stuff like phone, wallet, keys): MiniMedi, Whistle, Knife, Flashlight, Lighter, Xtra Cash. Which to me are basically the bare minimum of items i would need to get myself home over a few days, and/or to signal for help, plus some items from the minimedi to deal with minor injuries.

      I wonder if a $5 Walmart multi-tool would pass with the blade(s) removed.

    Why use a Faraday bag over airplane mode or switching the phone off?
    Phones use more battery when they can't get a signal, using airplane mode or switching off, not only does not use more battery than usual, but even helps conserve some

      @TheUrbanPrepper  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your phone is still tracking you even when in Airplane Mode or off. There's some good (and kind of creepy) videos on TH-cam that show how that still works. I have now been putting in airplane mode in addition to the faraday bag, for periods of time when out and about.

    So you had a really good review of the WE Banter knife, such a convincing review I'm about to finally pull the trigger on it (so to speak).... But here you a featuring the Bugout 535. After using the WE Banter for a while, have you decided the Bugout is better?

    If you want some stronger scales for the bugout, check out flytanium. I’ve got some on my bugout and I love them. They have carbonfiber, brass, and titanium of course

    Cliff, I like what you’re carrying. Not sure if I’m ready for a fanny pack though. Love the Olight. I’ve got the S1 and S2 baton II. I’ve also recently started carrying a clean key type tool. I’m still getting used to it.

    I’ve been debating on getting a fanny pack for months now, but still haven’t pulled the trigger. We all have so much crap to lug around now, & for me there’s 2 options. There’s the dreaded man purse, or a fanny pack, & there’s no way I’m getting a purse lol. Backpacks & messenger bags are just overkill for me.

    Stop carrying plain mini BICs they have let me down too many times gassing out or flint disintegration.
    Instead EDC Scripto Clic pizio safety lighters, both issues are eliminated. If you smoke then you cycle out lighters much faster but if you don't please adapt to more reliable gear.

    You don't consider your glasses as part of your EDC?
    You may have talked about it in another video, and I missed it, but where and how do you have redundancy for your glasses?
    Have you found a good, durable, case that works with the other items in your various kits and systems?
