Imagine being Frank and having to hear this. Absolutely gutting. I think any man would be able to understand. I don't think Frank is as appreciated as he should be, even despite his obvious flaws as a husband.
@goby jo 1) he actively cheated on her and barely hid it, despite having the opportunity to end the relationship first, a chance Claire didn't have given the whole going back to 1700s thing. Claire even offered a divorce before he eventually asked for one. He chose to stay for as long as he did, more for Brianna's sake but it was still his choice. 2) He didn't trust Claire enough to know she isn't cruel enough to keep Brianna away from him. He couldn't trust that she would never have done that, even when she told him she wouldn't outright. That mistrust is probably why he refused to divorce initially, but still, it is a flaw. Adding to that he was planning on taking Brianna across an ocean which would have meant taking Brianna entirely away from her, like he didn't trust her not to do. 3) He never did truly accept the possibility that she might not be able to start over after Jaime. He was the one that proposed a clean slate for their marriage, and she agreed to try, but Frank couldn't accept it when she failed to actually move on. That's ultimately the root of all their marital problems, he didn't consider that she might be unable to love him again like she once did, he simply expected her to be able to do it and grew resentful when she couldn't. All this isn't to say Claire isn't to blame either. It takes two to tango and Claire's faults definitely played a part in their marital woes too. And Frank did do the decent thing by taking Claire back and raising Brianna with her, nobody is denying that. But they were both such different people from when they first got married, that it was irreconcilable really.
I didn't particularly care for Frank in the books. Didn't hate him or anything. He just didn't interest me that much. The tv show Frank? Tobias transformed him into my favorite character.
Frank is a so beautiful man He loves Claire anyway she does no other man has take back a woman who is desapear for 3 years and from one day to another she is back, and her husband shall take her back so as nothing was happend. But Frank this beautiful guy does it without anything but love for her. He is so a tragic figure in this series and always a loser and at the end He stand with empty hands. i loved him from the beginning because He stays so massiv to his wife and Claire is in many ways so unfaire to him and often a real beast. Poor Frank.
(regardless of Tobias' unique acting, which unfortunately was less seen in this series), but Frank's character was an idiot. The writers should not have shown him so weak and awkward
Incredible acting by Tobias in this.
Great acting from Tobias Menzies and Catriona Balfe.
I know its already being established, but can we give a stand ovation to Tobias for his magnificent performance
What a great actor this Tobias Menzies!
