I almost didn't listen to this because of the sound quality...it would have been my loss. This is an incredible performance - the music shines thru the mud. Poor Manfred; this must be the one that got away.

Keith getting back together with the 'Belonging' band (as Leslie Nelson suggested) would be like the Beatles getting back together back in the 70's, as Lennon said back then, it would be like re-heating an omelet. Even if he wanted to, he could not re-create his greatest moments, you cannot be 20 again when you are 70. I liked his album with Gary Burton better than the Belonging band anyway, although the Windup was a great piece.
Yes I take your point Russ, it was a fanciful notion on my part and written in the heat of the moment. Miles always resisted looking back to past achievements and I guess he was right.
Sometimes getting back together is a bad thing. It's like lightning hitting the same spot. It's better to record because there is no way to recapture all of the love, all of the gestalt of that moment you want so badly. Before you hit play and record make sure you're spiritually alive then you'll be satisfied to leave the moment where it is.
Keith takes himself very seriously but there is no doubt about his artistry. Sometimes I think that his musical tastes are somewhat narrow and limited, I would like to hear him play in a band that offered a greater challenge than his rather tired present trio; getting back together with his colleagues from the "Belonging" band would be a good start,
He is just very comfortable (like Paul Mcartney?HA! oops sorry! i couldn't resist!) usually at his age, jazz artists are forced to hire younger musicians, to keep their costs down (working like serfs for the opportunity to have the experience & resume), at the same time, (like Miles,Diz,Blakey) they keep themselves fresh. Any number of youngsters would jump at the chance. Jarretthas his ECM situation, is well overpaid, spoilt testy finicky ass kissed. He won't move an inch before he passes.

Spiral dance was a great piece
Except the very beginning, it seems that most of the improvisational material is coming from the Facing You album. Nice

Fantastic. Was this recorded at the Molde Jazz Fest?

I have never heard this before. Was it released on album at some point?
waar is het origineel van Keith Jarrett Koln concert ik wil zo grrag de oorspronkelijke versie terug al die ander klonen bakken er niks van.
Starting around time index 22 you can hear the Dollar Brand/Abdullah Ibrahim influence although Keith would not likely admit that.
I'm at 33.11 and it still works, try ctrl + F5
Jan Granbarnek? hahaha
定期的に、いや言い間違えた、不定期的にここに帰省します。まあ故郷みたいなものです。
that was unfair to Paul. he did a decent job, and stretched a bit covering some jazz standards.

nice bootleg.
