SCX24 new stock electronics: No CH2 out - why did Axial do this?

    I asked a professional now, new blue board has been mapped by oscilloscope for signal: With the new, blue ESC/RX unit it is not possible to use an external ESC. There is no signal on any spot on the board, which could directly be used by an ESC, no matter if brushed or brushless (as many of us did or do in Blade mCPx, NanoCP brushed or Eflite UMX boards). Seems Axial does not want us to use upgrade ESCs.

      @@auggysimcity The days of radio shack are well behind us, it sucks. I'm getting very irritated about things like this. The only thing it costs the company is a lot of frustrated customers who, like me, bought the vehicle and furitek esc beforehand. Every other video review or demo I've seen of the furitek ESC never quite explained this odd incompatibility for just this one specific model of the scx24.
      I don't think I'll ever go near these 2 companies again 😮‍💨 and certainly not for this kind of money.

      I don't really see why it's a big deal. The new setup works amazing and isn't expensive at all compared to aftermarket units. If you want to use an upgrade ESC just buy one of the old V1 units and plug in to that.

  • @auggysimcity

    All valid points in comments section..I'd suspect that Axial will be making their own step ups of receivers and such with bluetooth etc.. lock the customer into Axial, like Apple does with their products..

    I feel like furitek is giving the Oem axial esc a bad reputation.. in a way but also furitek is charging a good bit of $$$ in some cases. I paid 100 cad for Eguana pro.. & don’t forget the brushless kit is 130$US>CAD 164$ 😳 that’s almost a new axial product 😉 see where the problem is…… they are almost piggy backing off axial lol that’s my opinion

    This is actually pretty funny timing, a Reddit thread started on this very topic like 4 hours after you posted this video.
    IMO the v2 ESC is SO MUCH BETTER than the v1 that the lack of easy ESC drop-in is an acceptable trade-off. Now you already get very solid low speed torque and I suspect that dropping a MofoRC Torquebeast 2 or Injora 66T will provide a proportionally MUCH cheaper, satisfying upgrade than having to buy either that same motor+Lizard or brushless+lizard.
    I also suspect they'll continue to offer the V1; so far only the Jeeps are going to V2 and I kinda think they have a TON of Deadbolt stock they're still trying to unload around the world.
    If you have a V2 JLU, could you maybe do a comparison video between a completely stock V2 and a stock V1+Lizard? I suspect the results will be shockingly close from my own time with the V2, and if that is the case, I personally MUCH prefer being able to drop a $10-35 USD motor to get this crazy low end torque than having to ALSO spend a MINIMUM of $40 USD (and in almost all situations $80 USD for all proper connectors and BT connection)

    • @rolandepascua1900
      @rolandepascua1900 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I agree the new esc is superior. Better low speed control, especially paired with injora 66t, also with dual steering setup the channel 3 switch can be toogled by your left hand thumb.

      Dont mind the jeep myself, but to each their own. If I already owned an scx24 I wouldn’t buy another. They are all essentially the same (I know I know what am I saying). Maybe if I had different uses say one trail one rock crawler. That’s the thing in this hobby so many variables-back in the day everything worth having was a kit and you put in your own electronics etc to get what u wanted. Now most are r2r and u need to upgrade everything to get there.

  • @999benhonda
    @999benhonda 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I can get some being bothered by not being able to plug in their own ESC, but the stock ESC had such low resolution that you basically HAD to use your own ESC in order to do any scale crawling. So many times you'd be up against a rock, and the throttle response was either load with no tire movement, or the truck lurched forwards. The real issue here is the companies shaving cost by having 2-in-1 units, as these are always worse than having a seperate ESC/Rx. As far as a stock ESC combo unit, it is still technically better than the V1 in terms of how it works out of the box. And that is technically how a RC company should sell their models, looking at how they will operate out of the box.

Then they may release upgrade radio with no ch2 out, for those that invested in esc and locked themselves in Axial environment.

    Um people this is a Horizon Hobbie issue not Axial. Remember that Axial is now a Horizon brand, it was done as a cost saving thing. The more platforms using the same equipment (notice the HR in the part number? stands for Horizon) means less over head in parts and man power to keep those parts organized, not to mention cheaper production cost of parts. Simple economics, no big conspiracy to lock people into using one brand
